    National Hockey League (NHL):
    the NHL has many teams,
    each team has a name, a city, a coach, a captain, and a set of players,
    each player belongs to only one team,
    each player has a name, a position (such as left wing or goalie), a skill level, and
    a set of injury records,

    a game is played between two teams (referred to as host team and guest team)

    In 3rd qn, shouldn't team_played be a unary relationship? Because a team plays only with another team, right? If done so, we could remove Opponent attribute from MATCH entity and add Opponent_score as another attribute in team_played relationship.

      Look for this solution in 4th question. In 3rd question er diagram is made for your favorite sports team only so oppenent score and own score should be maintained.

      Yes sometimes it is neccessary because we cannot add it into some entities and we have to represent in relationship only.

    can we have an policy table with policy id ,premium in 1st question.?
    car has policy?

      Definitely one can have a policy then only he/she can claim the insurance amount but that table is beyond the scope of this er diagram. It should be stored in insurance company database.

      For designing the db you need to understand the whole project that requires software engineering SDLC concept..

    What will be the cardinality for the entities shown in the ternary relationship in question 2?

      Mapping cardinalities are shown in only binary relationships and not in ternary relationships. Because for mapping binary relationships into relational tables have 3 rules but mapping ternary relationship into relational table only have 1 rule.

    hello sir, last question mai student enrolls course offering mai apne course offering mai double rectangle kyu banaya hai? agar aapne course offering ko weak entity liya hai toh enrolls bhi double diamond mai hona chahiye ,

      Every weak entity set is always associated to one identifying entity set through a identifying relationship so that relationship is represented through double diamond box not every relationship is identifying relationship so thats why i have not drawn it with double diamond box

    question no 2 mein jo turnary relationship bana hai us mein cardinality and modality kiya hogi

      We will not represent cardinality on ternery relationships or in others words in every er diagram ternery relationship always represent many to many relationships and participation is always partial.

      Yes today driverless cars exist but we do not consider it for making the er diagram.

    sir koi khadi gaadi ko bhi to thok sakta hai , in this case there is no person inside the car, suppose he parked his car for 2 minutes for toilet and other car hit the car then this also a case

      Ho sakata hai but database me esse koi fark nahi padega accident hoga to claim to person lega hi na agar insurance karaya hai toh..

      It is a rule of identifying relationship that identifying relationship is always one to many from identifying entity set to weak entity set.
      Course offering are many but one course offering belong to only 1 course that is why it is 1 to many from course to course offerings.

    Accident total participation mai nhi hoga kya?

      Accident ka total participation rakh bhi sakate hai but usase koi fark nahi padeha kyunki jab er diagram to relational model me convert karenge to participated relationship ki table banegi hi kyunki wo ternary relationship hai. Total participation and cardinality ratio hamesha binary relationship ka hi dekha jata hai kyunki usme convert karne ke alag alag steps hai kabhi relation merge karna hota hai kabhi relayionship ki alag table banani hoti hai but for ternary relationship hamesha alag hi table banati hai so cardinality ratio and total participation ka koi importance nahi hai usme.

      No according to er diagram question students should enroll to course offerings which is offered within courses. So ultimately students enrolled to courses though course offerings.

      It is dependent on the region, here in india people learn with local language but for communicating with outside world it is required to speak english thats why study in english...
      So for teaching the concepts here we used mixed language i.e. hindi + english..
