Something that I think most people wouldn't realize: If you use Awaken The Woods with Omo, you can put two everything counters on them, but they will not be considered every creature type. Omo's second ability says "Each NONLAND creature with an everything counter on it is every creature type". They will still be considered every land type. It's very easy to miss, so I wanted to point that out. Same goes for Ashaya, since it turns your creatures into lands.
11:57 This is the rule, not the exception. In a deck that can reliably cast Apex Devistator before the game is already over, you will have a ton of ramp to support it, and thus you will get a ton of ramp on your cascades.
ITS FINALLY HERE! REJOICE! Edit: Just wanted to mention that I think Bilbo's Ring is a very unique/cheap/effective include in this deck. Turn 3 play Omo with an everything counter on them, Turn 4 Bilbo's ring and it equips for 1 since Omo is a halfling. It gives psuedo hexproof but more importantly allows you to get free unblocked attack triggers with Omo while also giving you a card every time.
Something to consider, get cards with "walk" island walk, forest walk. Because the everything counters can be put on your opponent's lands, not just yours.
Ehhhhh, I don't think that's worthwhile building a deck around. Landwalk effects tend to overcost creatures, especially in Blue, frequently adding 1-2 mana on top of the vanilla cost. I'd rather pay extra for more reliable evasion, like Trample or Flying, or useful activated/triggered abilities. The downside of putting everything counters on your opponents' lands and making them into all land types is that you're color fixing for THEM. Not worth it for being able to sneak in some damage, imo.
28:00 People are sleeping on Sage of the Maze's second ability Often players don't want their land to become creatures because it makes them susceptible to removal, but that ability mixed with the last one is really powerful: If you control 2 gates you can make a 4/4 and tap both gates to untap the sage and make two more. With 3 gates you got 4 6/6 creatures in total. It's not an ability you should use very often in early game, but its definitelly an endgame option to beat players out of nowhere.
Enjoyed the upgrade video! Ended up upgrading my precon with roughly $100 of upgrades and turning into a creatures' matter deck. Slivers, merfolk, cats, dogs, knights, etc. Been enjoying it thus far.
March of Velis Vel is like.. the best card in the deck, it is insane. The "trick" is to make 7-10 copies of Avenger of Zendikar, then play a land drop. You'll be giving all of your stuff +10/+10. Acidic Slime can take out someone's entire mana base. Apex Devastator is enough to win the game. This is by far the most fun precon I've ever played. I am actually not going to upgrade it. It may feel inconsistent at times, but you have such explosive power, and the deck plays completely differently every time you play it because one game you end up going into Deserts, another game you get the Urza lands, other games you're doing Gates. It's crazy.
Your entire premise is wrong bc Avatar of zendikar is an etb. If you turn a land that's always on the field into a copy of it, that land doesnt count as "entering the battlefield," since it's already on the field and is only changing its type. it didn't enter the battlefield, so it doesn't activate its ability to create a plant token.
@@D-AVG it still does work with Avenger of Zendikar in the sense, that if you already have a bunch of creatures out, playing March of Velis Vel and land will still trigger a bunch of landfall abilities, you're still very like to kill a player or two with this. The Issue is, you played Avenger of Zendikar, basically everything combos well with that. Could be a beastmasters Ascension, a Scapeshift. Like, it's not really all that difficult to Win a game the turn after you played Avenger of Zendikar.
Omo reads : nonland creatures with everything counter have all creature types, having ashaya in play this stops working since they are land creatures instead. So while you gain +1 locus for every nontoken creature you also lose hexproof from lord of the unreal. Also hard disagree on cutting march from velis veil, its like the best card in this deck(other than cloudpost) in my experience. You make your 20/20 flying indestructible token and then you play this to give like 5 of your lands 20/20 flying indestructible and oneshot someone or copy rampaging baloths, attack with 6 of them while also making +6 beasts from a single landfall, then you flashback next turn to kill another player.
Good call on the nonland creature part. I built the lords' lords version and was going to include some creature lands to take advantage of the buffs. I guess it would have been a little too ridiculous with dryad arbor and inkmoth nexus.
Marit Lage is a legendary token, so if you use velis veil to copy it, you would have to sacrifice each of those lands to the legendary rule, but it's great with any of the landfall creatures or some non legendary big beaters
@@andresfeliperodriguez2651 Yup, you need Mirror Box or Sakashima of a Thousand Faces to get you out of jail on that one, or by making a non-legendary version like Irenicus's Vile Duplication or Spark Double (though, at that point, you should have enough Merit Lage's to win the game already).
I understand the cut of Vivien Read here, but in my build she’s one of my best wincons. Making a big board with stuff like Awaken the Woods or Scute Swarm is pretty easy here so you can protect her until she hits 8 loyality counters. With getting that emblem, she turns your defense now into a massive army to overrun your opponents. And I put even more land animation in here with cards like Tatyova or Jolrael. And even more so, by animating the lands you get even more value out of it. With the emblem the animated lands now not just get bigger but they also get indestructable so the risk to lose them in combat is pretty small. And after combat these lands can still be used for mana because of vigilance. That‘s fantastic. Animating lands in an Omo deck isn‘t something I see recommended a lot but imo it‘s solid plan B for this deck because of the huge amount of lands it has. And for this, Vivien Reid is great. Great upgrade btw, Manascape Refractor and Gatebreaker Ram are two pieces I didn‘t really think about but which I would love to include… Guess I need to check my build again!
I'd like to suggest Helm of the Host for this deck. Not only is it a very thematic include, it also gives you more Omos, which will generate 2 more counters (ETB and attack) on every combat phase. And having more copies of Omo makes it much more difficult to remove the effect.
It was the very first card I thought about! Kinda disappointed that it wasn't in the deck out of the box, to be honest. Lots of people advised me against it, but so far it's working wonders: targeted removal is almost useless if you have it out
I'm just upgradaing my precon deck and this was like the first card I thought of, not only to copy Omo but to copy Mary Lage token too! And Mirage Mirror can copy the Helm itself for 2x extra copies of any legendary creature-token you want to copy! Man, this deck is so funny!
I rummaged thru my other precons and grabbed Koma, Cosmos Serpent and Xolatoyac, the Smiling Flood as some big creatures to spend mana on. I also grabbed Asceticism for protection which was huge in my first game at a table. Also grabbed some Elf and Merfolk lords. I found the biggest problem in the games I played was finding ways to get in attacks with Omo. I suppose once you get your mana going, you might not care a ton about having to recast her. I def got overrun by people with flyers tho. I had a Marit Lage to block, but they had way more than one flyer.
I was just looking for this, Ashaya is good if you build Omo as a man-land centered deck and focus on making your lands the attack force. But otherwise think she just sets you up for a boardwipe you'll never recover from

Yeah, I would’ve cut the backup commander instead. If you haven’t cast your commander by the time you get him out, you get no tokens, and you’re not running enough land creatures to reliably get value from his combat trigger.
Am i alone in thinking Spelunking would be a home run here? Your taplands come in untapped. Draws a card and lets you put a land into play on ETB. And gives you a small bonus for choosing a cave too? (though it occurs to me that the Cave synergy isnt that good cuz it only triggers on Caves that you play....)
Multiclass Baldric. Only 29 cents. Only 3 mana to cast and equip. Omo on the battlefield + one everything counter on a creature = equipped creature has lifelink, deathtouch, haste and flying (you still need at least four creatures to have a full party)
I had pulled an Omenpath Journey from an OTJ booster box. I was looking through some of my cards, and realized that that card goes pretty crazy in this deck. I think it's fairly cheap as well. Also slotted in my Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger to make the entire table hate me.

I’ve been really debating this one. Found it in my bulk box and seemed really good for Omo, considering her low casting cost. Allows for a lot of triggers for sure.
Why include Goldberry and not Nesting Grounds? Grounds is a land, meaning it’s harder to remove, and it can move one counter per turn, as opposed to Goldberry’s one counter per two turns. Also, regarding your section on the Tron lands: You don’t need all three out in this deck. Having a single everything counter is enough to turn the Tron lands on, as it is checking for land types, not names. Urza’s Tower checks for a land with the types Urza’s and Mine and for a land with the types Urza’s and Power-Plant; it doesn’t care if they’re different lands or even if they’re lands that aren’t Urza’s Tower. Put an everything counter on Urza’s Tower and it’s now an Urza’s Tower Mine Power-Plant.

Small critique/suggestion: I know, that you are always finding very cool cards to put in, that are not seen in every deck, but awesome in the deck you are upgrading, but I personally would also like to have a small section with a list of cards to put in that are maybe total < 5 bugs or something, that belong to the "boring vegetables". Would be cheap and helpful for beginners. Just absolute save-calls that beginners maybe couldnt tell. Maybe just one/two drawpieces, one/two spotremovalpieces and one/two ramppieces (Depending on what the deck needs most). The section could look like ypur honorable mentions.
The Eldrazi Incursion precon would be a good home for the Apex Devastator that’s being cut from this deck. Cascade into an Eldrazi, trigger Ulalek, copy the remaining cascade triggers, repeat until you run out of mana (or add Basalt Monolith for infinite mana with Forsaken Monument)
A very fun card is "Absorb identity", it is very flexible in either turning your entire board into your opponent's biggest threat or protecting your board from a board wipe (making your creatures indestructible if a creature on your opponent's board is indestructible)... etc. Have not played it yet, but it seems fun.
I love this deck it’s so fun finding the lines to go off I’ve managed to create 3 copies of cloud post in a game with each one tapping for 80 thanks to two mana reflections
You said there is probably a way to break Deadeye navigator in this deck, i found a funny four card combo with a fifth being a payoff while goldfishing earlier. Hope you enjoy this as much as i do. If you have Ashaya in play it gives your nontoken creatures with everything counters every land type including gate. If you have deadeye navigator paired with the commander (with an everything counter on it) and you untap with sage of the maze. You can activate sage of the maze tapping the commander to untap itself. It can then add two mana to exile Omo and return it putting an everything counter on Omo and another creature or land becoming a gate again. Since it enters untapped, this allows you to repeat this process any number of times. Below I talk about payoffs With mana reflection, you net infinite mana. With scute swarm or rampaging baloths, infinite tokens, with tatyova you can draw your whole deck if you want (NOTE, NOT a may ability). Finally, Avenger of zendikar can pump a plant infinitely (note with ashaya in play itll probably have to be a token unless the card is a plant naturally)
Wait, how does Rachel not like Zucker? He was one of the most in-demand villagers to have back when New Horizons first came out, and he's just a little takoyaki octopus!
I loved most of the upgrade videos, but I can't agree with the other includes aside from manascape and oracle of mul daya. Why hasn't anyone thought of adding legendary rule nullifiers and token doublers? Marit lage is such a funny token, just make a tone of marit lage! maybe even double their power and give them trample.
I'm building her as part of the 99 for my WUBRG Sliv-drazi deck. Rukarumel or Ulalek for commander with stuff like hivestone and maskwood Nexus to make everything into everything. Esika with world tree and tyrite sanctum so once all my Sliv-Drazi are also Gods I can tutor out my entire deck.
@@benbresnan5325 nope the first part says nonland creatures, so by turning them into lands they are applied with the second paragraph of text but not the third.
A great X spell to put out a bunch of Everything Bagels at once would be Dopplegang. I pulled an etched foil Omo and am so tempted to build her. Probably throwing in some legendary copiers (ie spark double) would be good so that even if they remove omo you have another
Path of Ancestry was an odd card for WotC to not include in the deck, considering it will see Omo as having all creature types if she has an Everything counter. Nice to have an extra scry every turn.
You say jyoti wouldn’t give you any tokens if he’s part of the 99 but it doesn’t say he needs to be the commander. If you play him before your commander gets out there then yes no tokens. Still would work otherwise.
Those are much more classic changeling decks, and they were explicitly going for exploiting the land types, as that's what's unique about this deck. Like, most of the benefit from Herald of Hoofbeats disappears when Ashaya hits the battlefield. Also, with the Mana this deck generates, you might as well go Sun Quan and then even creatures without the everything counter have horsemanship.
@@ChristopherSmithGPlusAshaya doesn’t cancel that out though. The card specifically states “in addition to their other types.” It doesn’t make them lands and take away all other types.
@@benbresnan5325 Ashaya does cancel it out because Omo's ability says "Each *nonland* creature with an everything counter on it is every creature type." They still have every land type, but that doesn't help with abilities that check for creature types.

It sucks that by the time this came out all the upgrades are almost 2x the price now lol
Lord of the Unreal is $4 now. It more than quadrupled in price.
Rachel, my daughters are also playing Animal Crossing. You are not alone. 👍🏽 Awesome video. Omo is my favorite commander from the precons.
A very fun card is "Absorb identity", it is very flexible in either turning your entire board into your opponent's biggest threat or protecting your board from a board wipe (making your creatures indestructible if a creature on your opponent's board is indestructible)... etc. Have not played it yet, but it seems fun.
Velis Vel is most certainly not a cut. Use it to copy any of your Big Mana™ creatures
Now the REAL question: How do I upgrade my Aesi simic landfall deck with this precon??
Lord of the unreal is hard core not .75 cents anymore lmao
Xolatoyac is awseome in this deck!!!! Same with Hakbal!
I love this deck it’s so fun finding the lines to go off
I’ve managed to create 3 copies of cloud post in a game with each one tapping for 80 thanks to two mana reflections
elvish champion goes HAM in my deck
Omo's last ability doesn't work with land creatures, Ashaya is a nonbo with Lord of the Unreal and Joraga Treespeaker.
Works great with Embiggen from the unfinity set
@@j-dubz2349 it doesn't actually
@@psy_p it does actually
but ashaya and magus go infinite
I've gone lord effects with my build, and added snow lands/permanents for Marit Lages slumber for extra fun.
Saw y'all @ Magic Con this afternoon! 🤘🦁🤘
In every deck upgrade command zone recommends the same thing take out the biggest hitter from the deck even if you have a deck filled with lands.
That one hair bro
It's bothering me so much
What?
YES!!!! I've loved this deck since I preordered it and I'm so excited for this upgrade!!!
Below I talk about payoffs
With mana reflection, you net infinite mana.
I rebuilt her to be a gates deck with a Lord's subtheme and it's quickly becoming a favorite
I went landfall with a gate sub theme. Hoping to get some inspiration from this vid.
@@TheDanteBootsClara Oswald, shhhh…
Wait, how does Rachel not like Zucker? He was one of the most in-demand villagers to have back when New Horizons first came out, and he's just a little takoyaki octopus!
Access Tunnel for sure, and yes, then things with landwalk.
Jordan's shirt is looking absolutely Floriferous today! 💐🏵🌺🌼🌸💮🌻
I loved most of the upgrade videos, but I can't agree with the other includes aside from manascape and oracle of mul daya. Why hasn't anyone thought of adding legendary rule nullifiers and token doublers? Marit lage is such a funny token, just make a tone of marit lage! maybe even double their power and give them trample.
just back from magicon! great show guys was awesome to see you in person!
I'm running Jolrael, voice of Zhalfir in my Omo deck. Just slapping people with the bird lands has been so satisfying.
When talking about typal cards to run why do they show Sage of Fables? That effect doesn't interact with Omo.
That's a good idea. I am working on a Sliv-drazi deck as well.
Love the thumbnail rachel, looks like you have some huge hits in this one!
It’s finally here 🎉🥳🎉
Ashaya s a bit of a nombo with Omo. By turning creatures into lands, they are no longer changelings.
It still says “in addition to their other types”. It absolutely works.
@@benbresnan5325 nope the first part says nonland creatures, so by turning them into lands they are applied with the second paragraph of text but not the third.
March of Swirling Mist would be a great protection piece for this deck :)
Druid's repository get it this is Clif with a shout-out AKA Clifton Davis you guys Rock
I would consider dark depths a land in this deck since an everything counter lets it tap for mana
i actually put a murkfiend liege and march of the veil on that is spectacular
Blossoming Bogbeast is another one.
Brilliant!
I kept Vivian with a Shifting woodlands and repeatedly shifted into her from the graveyard to have a constant way to destroy enchantments and flyers
The only inspiring precon of the bunch.
Finally! Now I'll actually watch wizard of barge and dismuke's videos after this
weird one - precon - but also, it can explode to be bigger then anything you imagine. Last week I got more than 150 mana to spend XD
A great X spell to put out a bunch of Everything Bagels at once would be Dopplegang. Copy Omo, and a couple other lands or big creatures, enchantments or anything gets you at least 2-3 Omo ETBs, and imaging having 4 copies of Mana Reflection, or a bunch of Uro triggers, or basically anything else in the deck. 4 Cloudposts?! Sign me up!
Zucker is an AWESOME Villager!! Haha how could you hate him 😢
Interesting idea with Omo is to put it in the 99 of a Gor Muldrak deck.
I pulled an etched foil Omo and am so tempted to build her. Probably throwing in some legendary copiers (ie spark double) would be good so that even if they remove omo you have another
Druid's repository is a alternative to losing you commander or even your lands base as it makes mana of any color
the new Dryad of the Ilysian Grove art should have the quote "Clever girl."
FINALLY!!! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!😂
I put slivers and shrines in my Omo deck to take advantage of the everything counters
Worth noting: shrine is not a creature type.
@@ChristopherSmithGPlus that is so weird! Thank you for letting me know before I made a fool of myself lol. I’ll take them out now.
@@Skyy_A Understandable mistake. I'm glad you didn't have to deal with the "feel bads" of finding out during a game.
Path of Ancestry was an odd card for WotC to not include in the deck, considering it will see Omo as having all creature types if she has an Everything counter. Nice to have an extra scry every turn.
the post credits scene 😆
This needs more upvotes so people don't miss it.
You say jyoti wouldn’t give you any tokens if he’s part of the 99 but it doesn’t say he needs to be the commander. If you play him before your commander gets out there then yes no tokens. Still would work otherwise.
Didn't they say just that?
Prayers were heard 🙏🏼 thanks
Just for the extreme wackiness of it, I would love them to make a card with Urza'swalk sometime.
The new Thirst-Trap Dryad is Elijah Wood 😂😂😂
Early Harvest, Turnabout, Rude Awakening and Hurricane and/or Squall Line...
Oops! It's a Draw
No mention of Spawning kraken and herald of hoofbeats is wild
Those are much more classic changeling decks, and they were explicitly going for exploiting the land types, as that's what's unique about this deck. Like, most of the benefit from Herald of Hoofbeats disappears when Ashaya hits the battlefield. Also, with the Mana this deck generates, you might as well go Sun Quan and then even creatures without the everything counter have horsemanship.
@@ChristopherSmithGPlusAshaya doesn’t cancel that out though. The card specifically states “in addition to their other types.” It doesn’t make them lands and take away all other types.
@@benbresnan5325 Ashaya does cancel it out because Omo's ability says "Each *nonland* creature with an everything counter on it is every creature type." Ashaya makes all your creatures land creatures, so they *don't* have every creature type from the "everything counter". They still have every land type, but that doesn't help with abilities that check for creature types.
There are some cool domain cards that I added to mine.
Field of the Dead is obviously very good in this deck.
Love your precon upgrade videos
that nail polish is amazing
Don't know if they bring this up but CLARA OSWALD from dr who precon will double all your creatures triggers with eveything counters since they are doctors (not to he confused with 'the doctor')
Springheart Nantuko from the main set is underappreciated for this deck. You start cloning your creatures and/or creature lands...
I know you don't like messing with the mana base, but Baldur's Gate is right there, and still somehow cheap, and you mention it so little...
Brilliant been desperate for this
Nooooo not the Zucker hate i love the little problematic sentient takoyaki octopus
deadeye navigator plus ashaya and something like chromatic lantern goes basically infinite you just need something doubling your mana and then just toss down a scute swarm and make a million scutes then figure out how to give them haste
Druid's repository is 3 mana enchantment
Lets get maximum domain in a simic deck
My includes would ne Nesting Grounds and Blossoming Tortoise.
descendants' path is great in this deck
I just bought this deck. Seems like they are wrong about Ashaya, soul of the wild and Awaken the Woods. OMO cannot put everything counters on land creatures. It's kind of confusing because you could put in everything land counter on but Omoclearly states that you can only put and everything counter on a non land creature. Can someone help me out with understanding this?
