I don’t have a Saturn yet because I’ve always worried about how expensive it would be to collect for. Now this really makes me wanna find a system so I can explore the library of games. Great video! Thanks for sharing.
This is super cool! I just started collecting for the Saturn and there's lots of games that I never thought I'd be able to play until I saw this video.
Looks awesome. I have the Terraonion MODE and its great too. But I do have another Saturn that I've kept stock, so I can still play disc based games. The good thing is that the drive I took out of the MODE Saturn, is now a spare CD drive, in case the other drive dies. The Saturn I use the MODE with had an issue with the CD drive thinking it was open all the time which previously made that Saturn unusable, but with the MODE and the option to disable the CD drive switch detection, made it a working unit again. (the open drive issue is not related to the lid switch, its all working and electrically fine, its a motherboard issue). The Satiator looks like a really awesome unit and definitely worth a look.
@@SeeJayAre Yeah, got one for my PS1 as well (One for my Dreamcast too.... took me 3 years, I bought 1 Mode each year to cover all 3, too expensive to do in one hit lol) Its great on the each of them, I don't think you'd regret it on the PS1.
The Satiator is great. It’s what I have, and it’s perfect for me. But, don’t be offended or feel bad if you bought or prefer something else - the awesome thing is, there are several options for ODEs on the Saturn, which open it up to more people and grows the Saturn community. Put it this way - if us OG Saturn fans were gatekeeping, and the only way to be accepted into the community was to own an original copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga - then the Saturn community would be forever doomed to ~20,000 people or less. Fortunately the Saturn community is awesome, and even those of us who were there back in the day realize that hurdle is basically impossible to cross for most people. Also, there’s an amazing and healthy Saturn home brew scene, which in many cases meets and exceeds commercial games from back in the day. That would be nearly impossible without all the ODE options.
Yes its pricey, but if you look at the library of games it allows you to play and what THAT would have cost to get even a few of them, then the $260 doesnt seem as bad. I only got a Saturn for the 1st time about a year ago, and I was 25 when it came out, but never saw one for sale back then. Alot of awesome games I want to play on the saturn so Im thinking I will buy this device, and sell some other video gaming items to offset the cost, then be able to have the entire library that Im interested in playing right on the system.
Cool freaking video. Just came here to see how to add 2 games to my satiator but enjoyed the whole video. I'm a new Saturn owner but I been putting some $$$ on software and hardware and it's been a gem to me.
Just ordered one. I got back into Saturn collecting in 2009 and my Japanese console has a mod-chip but my own burns are so hit and miss. I have a good legit collection of NA and Japanese games but it's just so expensive to go the legit route and I'm done with messing with burns. I just want to play the full-breath of the Saturn library, so stoked for this thing to arrive. Also got the component cables on order, 2023 is gonna be ballin' outta control. lol.
Great video! Just a word to the wise: every time you insert or remove your action replay from that cartridge slot, it damages the actual internal hardware a little bit, and if you do it too much, it'll just stop working
Do you mean the Video CD Card port? The Satiator uses the VCD - which is particularly great because basically no one used that. Also it's not an action replay, that's a separate thing that goes into the top cartridge/memory slot of the Saturn. The Satiator is primarily a CD bypass and drive emulator. Lastly, even if slot wear is an issue, the Satiator only needs to go in once :D
@@newblor Pretty sure he was talking about the flimsy Saturn cart port to insert the Action Replay cartridge for extra ram and, not the VCD port with the Satiator.
I loved the sega saturn, had tons of games for mine in the UK, but had to sell it in the 90s to pay for my car to be repaired would love to be able to play the games again 👌
I have a Fenrir for my 21 pins Japanese Saturn and it is not perfect. Some games takes more time than with the CD to load and there is some bugs with the music in some games. Will buy a Satiator instead.
Prof Abrasive completely screwed this up. Thought he had it all for himself and took years to develop whilst getting his patrons to pay up for development updates. Then out of the blue the Terronion Mode and Fenrir got released, that lit a 🔥 under Abrasive’s ass and got him to release it but everyone ended up buying the Mode and Fenrir.
That's kinda how I saw it, too. Didn't Abrasive's initial video about his research into what would be the Satiator come out in like 2016? I didn't know even know he had a patreon. Anyhow, which of the ODEs would you recommend?
@@Sega_Dreams Yes, to me it they played it that the release was “around the corner - and just sorting out the bugs” not 4 years later. I got the Fenrir, love it, it works, its the cheapest and freely available.
How is the capability. I read a post that it kinda low in capability. It was kinda old post. Maybe a update fixed and made it better. Hear it also acts like a mod chip ii think. How is the capability on that? Was following his twitter. almost forgot about this. Just using the mode. holds a big drive so it fulfills my needs. but loose cd drive. It's a easy install.
I feel bad for anyone who pays the asking price for Albert Odyssey and expects some kind of gem, it's not worth it in the slightest. I say that as someone who has the game and also had it as a kid. The game is very dear to me and I love the art style, and translation from Working Designs but the game has terrible loading in/out of battles and it's like an entry level JRPG. It's underwhelming even compared to JRPGs that were on the SNES and AO:LOD started as a SNES game before being transitioned to the Saturn.
The Satiator is a lesson on why having the better product doesn't matter. Being first to market and being available to buy are more important hence why I have the MODE.
You’re not really mentioning the fact that you can burn any Saturn game onto a disc and simply play it using one of countless cheap eBay pseudo carts. You’re speaking of this satiator cart as if it’s either this or you can never play these games. Just sayin.
Dude love the vids but the notion that we should be buying games from the eshop so the $ can go to SEGA is kinda out of touch!!! Meanwhile our games keep getting more and more expensive yet less and less complete at release, constant delays, etc… SEGA doesn’t need my money dude
Look, I was just saying that if you were worried about the whole pirating thing it makes more sense to just pick up a Sega game elsewhere. Do what you want...
Man, I've been collecting Saturn's games for ages. Over 20 years. My 1st Saturn console doesn't works anymore but I still hold it dear. And still have it's box/manuals/stickers/cables. I'd definitely get all these ODEs If I lived on US, JP or any other country. But here in Brazil they are way too expensive.

ive never understood why some say that the saturn has always been difficult to hack or to play backups. Mod chips exists since the 90s.
What a great setup, what audio options do you have to trick things out?
I would like you make a video trying multi disc swap games. I want to buy the satiator but I can't find anyone showcase multi disc swap.
Guys make sure you replace the capacitors in your Saturn, they don’t last forever. Just a little maintenance and your console will outlive you.
Great device and I like it, however, firmware updates are extremely rare and there are some bugs. Once these are fixed it would be incredible.

how long did it take to get to you after you ordered it?

What is the smallest size SD card that you can use for this?

It does. Have 1 myself.

is there a max size for the SD Card??
I think 1TB
