My OG 2311 is the best-shooting handgun in my "collection". I ever so slightly prefer the ergonomics of my Staccato C and CS (mostly because of the grip texture), but the 5" 2311 is a much more pleasant gun to shoot (unsurprisingly). Thanks for the review.
People talk shit, but I’ve got a compact 2311 and it runs like a champ and is accurate. I’ve got old STIs and have shot many staccatos and can definitely see this sticking around. Looks are subjective. Some like it some don’t.
Im curious to see if they announce the new grip at Shot Show (im assuming this vid was recorded before the new grip was teased). Honestly i dont understand the hate this gets from some people. I personally think it looks great and has a ton of cool features. I genuinely hope it survives and continues to get improved.
Lots of guys try to inform us about guns … I just feel like you are more in depth when it comes to weapons and their pros and cons … keep doing what you are doing and I will keep telling people to check out your videos if they really want good information or a specific weapon
Yes, I watch all of your videos. Here's my average guy, never done a shot timer or measured my groups with a ruler in my life. I AM THE TARGET MARKET. Love shooting, not rich, have the bills paid and enough extra I can buy what I want but don't like overpaying because I have a wife and a bunch of sons and they need and want stuff, too. I'm very interested in the 2311 or 2011 pistol. My strategy with pistols is watch mavens like this guy, keep up with the trend and when the dust settles what I want will be half the price and twice the benefit. Wouldn't surprise me if someone like Canik or Walther comes out with a 2011 in two years and disrupts the market like they have with the striker fire market. I've got 7 designs on Stealth Arms I really like because all of my other pistols besides the PPK are boring and proven technologies. It's the 007 pistol, come on, everyone wants one of those even though it's largely useless.
The polymer around the steel frame on a Glock mag reduces potential capacity or makes the grip thicker, also leads to the magazine to stick in the frame. Objectively the Glock mags sucks and comes with way more negatives than positives. The only reason you should want a Glock mag 2011 is because of commonality with your Glock firearms. Outside of that I’ll take a p320 mag any day.
@@Jez-p9kExactly. I think the polymer covering on Glock mags was a stupid decision on Glock’s part. While I have lots of Glock magazines and they are cheap, the thinner wall of a steel magazine is a better choice.

Never use plated ammo with ports! Cci blazer used to be my thing until I got shrapnel imbedded in my forehead, heavily fouled barrel, and reduced accuracy. Ports are worth the recoil reduction for a minuscule 3-5% less velocity.

@@davidmoore1998 it's worse on the X Pro models than just the dot ones. And the lens does have a fair amount of distortion that I don't love - but again - the price is 2/3rds of what a good value play optic costs.

There weren't' that many manufacturers making them , and most I think were targeted to the competition crowd. Staccatos (STI) focused on the duty market, and are $2500-4000 depending on model. Lots of steel and milling time. But, like anything else, competition and variety brings down prices. Prodigy and Tisas are some 'inexpensive' 2011s, relative to the mean. There will be more lower cost options in the future I think.

Wouldn't a port ejecting gas up also act in a similar capacity as a compensator? I'm a little confused that you make it sound like it's just the act of bleeding the gases that helps, not the direction the ports point. That seems counterintuitive to physics.
So if you watch where the pistol lifts - it's when the slide travels all the way to the rear - bottoms out - then rotates up. The bullet + gas exiting out the muzzle creates the energy sending the slide backward - ports divert less gas than a comp.
I was hoping the 2311 Pro fullsize had the grip stippling that OA defense advertised at last year's shot show. Now, with Bul Armory coming out with their version of The stacatto XC....I may just have to pass on the OA pro. I love my 2311 Compact Pro, but I'm not sure if it's worth getting the 2311 Pro full size.

commander 2011 style gun steel frame. GP Arms Patriot, Bul Armory Tac, Staccato P. At that price point you're getting a work horse that's high end machine fit.

I have handled the compact, and i didn't like the grip. It was ugly. But i like 320 mags. I'd they could come up with a better grip design that didn't remind me of the stick on a scar i would be interested.
Ports and compensators basically do the same thing functionally.. How they perform at reducing recoil\muzzle rise is dependent on the layout/orentation. Comps also slow down slide velocity as it's pushing the barrel down reducing the tilt speed. Some threaded comps also have side ejection ports, they're not all top ejection. And some porting is top ejecting only, not just V porting. The main difference between the two is ports are obviously integraded into the barrel and expell gas before the muzzle. Comps are integral devices that redirect gas after the muzzle. Because of this, porting reduces velocity due to gas escaping before the projectile leaves the barrel. Comps dont suffer from velocity loss because the projectile has already left the barrel
@TheHumbleMarksman comps slow your slide appreciably. Ports, typically, do not. Ports only push the barrel down, and generally don't bleed enough gas to dramatically affect recoil.
Yeah not for these prices. I built a badass m&p 9 2.0 and upgraded everything on it and it shoots like a dream. I’m talking insane groups at 25 yards with an upgraded barrel and built it for cheaper than the 2311. Make the 2311 more affordable and then I might bite! Also built a custom Glock for $750 that I was super impressed with as well. P80 lower and zaffiri precision slide and barrel. I wish people would stop paying top dollar just for the sake of being a little different.
I just bought the 2311 compact pro. For holster support qvotactical makes some quality holsters for some guns odd guns that you might have in your collection.
9mm is lame, though. More 2011s should be made in .45ACP. And the magazines should be higher capacity too since the Para Ordnance frame magazines are all 14+1 or 15+1 flush fit with slide lock followers.
Hot off the press we need a review of the 2311 pro elite, this variant kinda trash. The ports seem bigger, lightened hammer, and a better grip/magwell.

The only thing this gun did for me is introduce me to real 2011's. The vemon customs and atlas of the world, but if you go this route the Platypus is the better option.

For me it is no different then buying a suppressor year two ago. You would literally buy the suppressor and tax stamp then have to wait 6-12 months for the ATF to approve it. Just gotta have patience. Buy and trust the process.
I shoot a P320 and have been wanting to get into the 2011 market. I was interests when I first heard of this since I have a ton of mags but, man that thing is ugly. The grip ruins it for me.

I was excited when this came out as I have P320s and not a single Glock. A guy at the range has one and loves it I can’t get past the look. It’s not an attractive pistol
I still think it’s horribly over priced for what it is. I don’t want an aluminum frame. I don’t want cerekote. I don’t need 5 more mags. I don’t want that chungus magwell. For what it costs I’d buy a staccato P

They should make the thumb rest as an add on like a plate. Some people might not like the thumb rest ...just a thought on it

I’d prefer the Glock mags over P320. But I’d still rather have a p320 mag over a 2011 mag

HK paddle release is the best form of ambi mag release.
I had a couple HKs with the paddle release. I have to say, having used them, that the HK paddle release is a terrible design.

I like that you run Cyelee red dots, I thought I was the only one. I have never had any issues with mine and my guns get used and abused.

Thank you for addressing the holster issue - my first reaction when I saw that thumb rest / gas pedal was that holster support would be an issue.
It looks like the barrel can be installed from bottom of slide and at least 4 parts are no longer needed.

I held one of these at my LGS...the side grip panels dig into the webbing of your grip hand. Hard pass for me.
