    Thanks for posting this video. I was not a reloader but got a wild hair up my ass and bought an 8.6 blackout 8" AR-10 barrel from Faxon and it snowballed into me going all in with a new upper, new suppressor, and a full reloading setup. I am very interested to see how it performs once I get some loads going. I found that, amazingly, Hornady 300gr A-Tips were the cheapest of the heavyweights at 83 cpr, so I bought a boatload of those. I also found that Hornady 230gr ELDX bullets were by far the cheapest bullets at 43 cpr, so I bought a boatload of those as well for supers. I probably should not have started out reloading a wildcat but fuck it, full send.

      I didn’t put a adjustable gas block on my so shooting supers it will not cycle. I’m shooting 300gr sups with no issue with the 8” barrel.

    With the 700’s supposedly you csn jam the lands and get tighter groups. I’d like to build one but on the cheap they’re still around $1k

    My wife and I really want to add a bolt action 8.6 into the rotation. She really likes the weight of the Q Fix.

      @Bluegrass all I can say is short stroke piston on this and suddenly 300blk is no longer a thing because this can still be suppressed AND reliably cycle the bolt while it's on silencer

    G’day mate , appreciate your videos on the 8.6 & practical attitude. Ultra fast twist barrels & those specific ultra long bullets just aren’t practical for a average guy in Australia.
    So I’m going to try & do something similar based on a Lee Enfield 303 . Using a full sized 303 case & 1:9 twist barrel or faster .
    Most likely using 180-225 gr conventional projectiles mostly , with some ability of using high bc 285-300gr even down to subsonic levels. I think a custom bullet mould & soft lead & mabey some trickery to the bullet nose , might make for a more cost effective option. If you can think of anything that may help please share your thoughts. Thanks subbed.

    Already started on the 12"build. Ammo will get better but not by much. Not tell brass prices fall.

      It's a shame ammo prices are still so terrible for 8.6. If only SAMMI would clear it so the big companies would pick it up.

    I can hear the sonic boom echo off the trees. Your barrel is too long bullets are going supersonic, making the suppressed shouting louder than it needs to be.

    I'm deciding on a good all around...self defense...range gun....and CQB RIFLE.....WOULD A BLACKOUT B GOOD? OR GO WITH .556 ? GINNA GET BOTH.... BUT I can't find a single channel that agrees....I know it's good to about 300meters...but

    • @Dan-gs3kg
      @Dan-gs3kg Год назад

      The blackouts are intended for short distance engagements. You can get away with further with the 338 blackout (the 8.6) due to the high spin rate, iirc you have issues past 100yd on 300 blackout but don't quote me on that. People do hunt with 300 blackout, they probably know a way around that.
      Both in subsonic are intended for suppressed use. Both only really need a change of barrel for use assuming you have a receiver that takes the cartridge.
      300yds is the bottom end of DMR usage, I'm willing to argue you'll be fine in CQB. From there, it's a matter of what you build for. The 338 blackout's Q-Fix is a scout rifle, very light, very easy to transport. You can probably find a way to get that for your 300 blackout.
