Have you read the Qur’an or Hadiths? Because if you did, you would know that the Qur’an basically puts The Bible in simper form and, while they see Jesus as being hugely important in terms of Faith, they don’t see him as God. They see Jesus as the Prophet before Muhammad. Even the Hadiths teach virtually the same teachings of morality as Abraham times. Muhammad even warned of the fanatics and said they were basically evil and of Satan. ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Taliban, etc, Muhammad warned true Muslims about the rise of such groups and said they would tarnish Islam through their fanaticism.

Which set? Not all Christians use the same list. The catholics take out the "graven images" commandment, for example.
So you can make people of other religions "have no other god before Christian God" that isn't even theirs? So that means Islam can impose their rules on us with the same reasoning.
It is amazing that they talk about being American and the importance of teaching history, yet never acknowledge the constitution is based on the Ten Commandments.

As for the 10 Commandments, I'm not religious but, I did like those as a guideline.
However, I also just go by the golden rule of "Don't do things to other people that you don't want done to yourself."

Honor your father and your mother.

The words "separation of church and state" do not appear in the U.S. Constitution. Freedom of religion is not freedom of morality.

Yall are mistaken. Freedom of religion is necessarily the freedom from religion. If your religion says don't sit in a shrine to another god and you're forced to go into a DMV with Krishna all up in there, the lady got a little mini altar at the window you're standing at, your right to free religious expression has been violated.

I grew up in a time when we still prayed in public schools. It wasn't part of my religion. I didn't know the words. I asked my parents about it and they told me to just copy everyone else's posture and remain silent for a moment till they finished. No big deal.
But these days, it's considered preferable to have picture books in elementary schools that teach sexual actions than for a list of: universal laws (murder, theft, adultery, & perjury), great advice (honor your parents, keep one day of the week holy, & avoid jealousy), & a few ambiguous religious rules that could be applied to most non-Christian religions.

I think it's a silly thing to focus on. Raised catholic in a protestant family (religious schooling and college), I'm an atheist that goes to church for for the conversation. I don't see anything WRONG with the 10 commandments being in school- i mean most of the kids i knew in cathokic schools ended up either atheist or agnostic because they simply didn't "preach". I think as a general rule, the more information, the better. I'd only draw a line if certain politics or religions were forced into the curriculum. We have a separate class for that here, RE aka religious education where we learn about all 3 of the major faiths

So? Even more atheists disagree. They don't allow you to defend yourself or loved ones with deadly force. You wouldnt be allowed to lie to troopers looking for Jews in attics. As an atheist with strong morals, I respect Christians and all beliefs. I often let anyone who's religious babble on about their views on their belief and I listen. Why? Because it's respectful and good.
There are a lot of things through the Old and New Testaments that I agree/disagree with, but I still don't support the idea of a supreme deity that rules us all, because of my personal experiences.
My best friend/Brother (a devoted Christian) often jokes that I'm the most Christian-Athiest he knows, because I follow the commandments and act/live with holy/religious aspects yet I refuse to accept/believe. I'm strange, I guess.
I love listening and having conversations with people about various topics because I love knowing more than I did know.
The View may think they're religious but they are hypocrites of the Bible.

God is Just and merciful…his judgement is righteous judgement as should ours be, judging righteously is what keeps us safe as families, individuals, and society. God loves and forgives on condition…and that condition is faith and repentance on the Through his only begotten Son!

I understand the fact that they are people in this world who are not Christians and do not believe in what Christians believe in. But there are also people who are not Buddhist and do not believe what Buddhist believe in. There should be an opt out if you don’t want to learn about it, you don’t need to. But quite honestly what is the big deal with the 10 Commandments being displayed in the school system. There is no question. Some of the commandments are to be taught their good things to teach kids that she’ll not steal Val shall not kill. some of those things should be taught a good thing to be to.
Jojo I would suggest that you look into the history of how the Ten Commandments were in the school system but during the 1960s a person named Madame O'Hare fought to have it taken out.

I’m not a Christian as I would define myself as being more of a Spiritualist who believes there is wisdom to be found in all, major religions, however, I have no problems with teaching the The Ten Commandments. Not because it’s religious, but because it teaches ethics and morality. Nothing wrong them being taught.
The only issue I have is that it depends on how someone teaches them. My nephew had a bad scripture teacher who basically made him and all of his classmates feel that they had no hope for their future because he basically taught them they would never be worthy and are already on the path to damnation and will be going to Hell. When you have a teacher like that, it’s not going to be good. But if taught the right way, it can teach the kids to think about their choices because their choices have the power to affect the collective.
I guess it really comes down to how the message is taught…
Love your videos but needed to clarify something in regards to Christianity. It’s not God sending us to hell if we don’t obey the Bible or believe in Jesus Christ, it’s doing those things that will allow us to enter heaven. We were headed to hell ourselves and couldn’t earn eternal life, it could only be granted by a loving God
The Holy Bible is simply instructions and directions not the word..The Heavenly Father is the word.

I have had friends of all religions.
People without a soul require someone to tell them what is right and wrong. Only one rule, the golden rule.

It's always Christianity being targeted because of the majority of Christians in this country. If you were from another country you would have a different religion and everybody around you would be complaining about that religion. Say you were born in China you would probably be a confucianist if you were born in many places you would be a Muslim or a Buddhist.
You just happen to be born in a Christian country. But you still have the option of exploring and studying and worshiping any religion you want. Because this is America. We do things differently are so we like to think.

There's actually 613 commandments. The "Ten Commandments" are only the first 10. They were intended to guide people to be kind and civil in a time when there were not many governments around to create laws. The ancient peoples who chose to accept and live by these commandments governed themselves by these laws. I wish people would do this on their own today too and we could "love thy neighbor" and stop fighting all the time.

I think you've hit the heart of this debate. The first few are specifically religious laws for monotheism. The others eventually became the basis for modern civil laws. Should we only teach religious law? Or perhaps also teach U.S. law and how to be a good citizen and good person. I think there's room for both.

I cant condemn another religion just because they dont belive what i belive. Islam, Christianity, Judaism are all different and belive differently. Do Christians actually think Jewish people are going to hell for not believing Jesus was the messiah? Do Muslims think Christians are going to hell because of what they belive. There is nothing wrong with the tens. Well as an atheist, i have to say,most of them. Those saying i should believe in god i do not agree with but the ones saying I you should be kind and so on are easy to agree with.
But still, leave religion out of school. We can teach the kids to be good citizens without religion in school.

It's not as if they are written in stone... oh, they are!!!! Apart from those directly concerning god, the others are basic societal ideals to live by. But yeah, keep religion out of school, that is why there are places of worship.. or teach ALL religions and their branches. I always saw the passage about Jesus telling his disciples to buy a sword as symbolic especially as he is not happy when they use their sword. I guess my main objection is how politicians use religion to gain power. Sadly it's a world wide issue and people start to worship or fear the politician or government more than God.
