Thanks Stef. And a big thanks to Air Services Australia. We know how security would make it nearly impossible for most of us. So glad they reached out to you ❤. We would happily watch more. Cheers.
Stef, I watch a lot of aviation channels. What stands out to me about yours, as a low hour (200-300) SR22 pilot, is how much you teach us all, through your humility and exploration. No wonder your channel has overtaken some other entertaining, but "look at me" aviators. You've got the real "wings" mate.
Awesome video! Very informative! It is great to see how ATC works around the planet. This was the first tower video ever that I have seen from Australia! Cool!
Sydney's tower is definitely one of my favourites! It's so unique and recognisable, take one look and you'll immediately say "Ah yep, that's good ol' Sydney!".
Another Great Job Stefan, Those guys at YSSY are great guys, we landed on a 172 first time early this year, the Sydney tower personnel were so helpful and extremely kind to accommodate us (GA pilots) to flight in and out of Sydney. I hope to flight to Melbourne soon and other major cities in Oz as soon as covid goes. PS I can wait to see you flight around the world keep us posted.
Very interesting and informative. As a young airport engineer, many years ago, I spent quite a bit of time in Control Towers. More recently my flying school organised a visit. Despite all that, I continue to be amazed. Great learning for all pilots. Cheers Stefan.
“Wangled” haven’t heard that word in a while hahaha but on a serious note excellent video Stef! Really gives an insight to student pilots and experienced pilots to what life is like on a different side of aviation! Loving these contents!
Thanks Stef! Really enjoyed seeing inside the tower and how they operate. This is my dream job, but unfortunately at 46 years old, I think it's a bit late for me. Not to mention having to train in Melbourne when I live in Perth 😕
and pass all tests requested by air-services and airways (NZ) which I did during last 4 weeks , really tough ones and require quick reaction and quick calculations and good 3D orientation.
@@AndrewPa Being able to plan & do those time distance speed calculations are very important as well as knowledge of your local area if working in the visual control room so you know what direction they are flying for conflict resolution.
Thanks Stef, I enjoyed this video. It's always good to see the face behind the microphone. I hope everyone is doing ok during these lockdowns. Please stay positive and happy.
Really good video. One signature structure that has always fascinated me driving past any airport is the rotating radar dish. They always seemed to be moving 30% faster than a huge metal contraption like that should be. Like a fairground ride where the operator has slumped over on the dead-man’s lever.
Epic video Stefan! I got to go up into the Darwin Control Tower years ago and watch both commercial & Military aircraft take off and land! Such a great experience! Hats off to all Controllers around the world!
Stef, I don't know if I have already written it... I am getting old but better late than never: Congratulations to reaching 100000 subscribers! You seem to be famous for getting asked about the visit of the SYD tower. Thank you for sharing your video with us.
Hey Stef, another great video! As a YMMB pilot, can you do ATC @ YMMB? I would love to see the faces behind the voices I hear in my ear on a regular basis.
Awesome! I’ve been up at the Melbourne Airport Tower at night when I was studying for my CPL licence. The view is incredible and the people up there are so cool and calm. Myself and a colleague flew over from Moorabbin in a Piper Turbo Arrow. It was great to see everything from that point of view. Landing at Tullamarine as a hoot too!
My heartiest congrats , you should be very proud of yourself, 100K 👍. You , me and the controller all long to get back to our homelands , let’s hope there is light at the end of the tunnel . Cheers mate
Great vid Stefan, my son Matthew works as a supervisor on the field at CLE here in the states and he was able to get me into their tower. Similar experience. Loved it! Keep up the great vids, I watch them all.
I live right near this and go past it every day (at least until lockdown started!). Ever since I was a kid I always wondered what was in there. And it’s nice to see because whenever I do fly back to Sydney, I see it and I feel like I’m back home.
What a view! It sounded very relaxed during the video, and fun. If I didn’t want to be a pilot this certainly would have been a job I would take. Great video Stef, hope you have a good evening :)
Great video, I could never put myself under that pressure to do that job, you really do have to respect those who do that job! Great insight, hope your doing alright in lockdown!
I like that guy he has the same name as me lol, also a very good insight into Sydney tower so thanks Stef. Congrats on the 100k! Keep up the great content and hope your doing well in lockdown :)
I've visited several towers and an ARTCC. The people who work there and the work they do always impress me. Last time I was in Sydney the plane landed on 16L. I was watching out the window as we flew on and on and on and was starting to wonder just where we were landing...
Lucky bugger. Still miss the days of being able to visit the cockpit… had a friend get to sit in jump seat on descent and landing into perth back in the 90s.
Hey Stef, congrats on 100K !!! Great video as always, did you get any pictures of the Antonov by any chance because at 1:53 on the map I saw ADB333F which is actually an Antonov 124 and later on in the video to you showed it quite briefly ?
I was looking forward to this one, quite an interesting tower design.
Yeah i know
There's a lot of this kind of aesthetic in Sydney. Late 90s early 2000s because of the Olympics ^^
6 mins ago!! dude!!!! As a private pilot I know you have already heard the chatter on the radio but being in the ATC tower is a whole nother level!!
Thanks to Airservices for inviting Stef, thank you Stef for taking us with you 👍
I also enjoyed your video with ATC at Hamilton Island as well 😊
Loved this one Stef! It’s great to see the behind the scenes work in the tower!

As a teen. I got to see the ATC tower . It was amazing, but I loved the radar room even more!
Fabulous! Don’t know how the hell they do it. Too much going on! I’d be happy sitting up there all day watching movements. Thanks Stefan! X
He could never work in the USA as I can understand every word he says.
yep for sure
That’s because he’s speaking with an English accent, not an Australian accent. 🙂
So what are you trying to say?
He can get a job in the states
Or he can't because you can understand him?? I don't get it
He’s being sarcastic - implying that air traffic controllers in the US speak poor English. 🤪
