On his death. Tom Selleck said, "Jim was a mentor to me and a friend, and I will miss him." Sally Field said, "My heart just broke. There are few people on this planet I have adored as much as Jimmy Garner. I cherish every moment I spent with him and relive them over and over in my head. He was a diamond. Cllint Eastwood said, "Garner opened the door for people like Steve McQueen and myself."

That’s not much of a recommendation for him for me because I think they Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen were so of the worst womanizers around. However, I’ll have to say that Clint Eastwood said that he loves women. Steve McQueen loved his children but he had been cruel and abusive to his women, at least that’s what Mr Google said. 😊😊😊😊😊

I met James Garner in Orlando Florida, while I was playing the piano at T.J Murphys ( a golf club and restaurant Bar ) in the early 70's he came over to me and said, he enjoyed my playing, couldn't believe my eyes, he was wearing a GoodYear overall shirt then went to finish his lunch and simply walked out the door and nobody bothered him... Classic example of how great artists, great professionals. Make the people around them better. The rocket scientists who fired Jimmy ending the show in 1980 when jimmy’s body broke down? Imbeciles. In some ways, a crime they should have lost their jobs over.

What a lovely man. He reminded me of my father with his square jaw, and the way he wore his hair.
When James Garner died it was like losing my dad all over again.

He's so right about Spencer Tracy. He was a natural which was rare during Tracy's time. James Garner is one of a kind. Such a natural actor. I never felt that Brando was a natural actor. He had a style for sure but I never viewed him as a natural actor. Love Garner!

He was nice, but didn’t let Hollywood cheat him. He sued several shows for accounting practices and such. He won too!

What a down to earth man. Joined the Merchant Marines but suffered from seasickness so joined the Army. Korean War veteran wounded twice, and came from a Cherokee mother that died 5 weeks after he was born coming from humble beginnings in Oklahoma. Naturally the media hardly said a word whenever he passed because he wasn't keen on their agenda and general 'Hollyweirdness'. Garner was very versatile and you never saw him-just the character that he poured himself into.

There was no Cherokee blood in the family, it was just a myth. People have looked into his family tree and his mother and her family were all white.

Whoever posted this did so immediately after Garners death.
James Garner passed in 2014. He was one of the smoothest actors I've ever seen. He could ad lib without effort and it always be 100% gold. 💕

I grew up watching Maverick, and so when Jim Garner was one of the celebrities at a local golf tournament, a few friends and I - about 12 years old or so - went. Jim was as warm and gracious to us as possible. He and Danny Thomas were the most relaxed and real people there that day. A wonderful actor - the movie “Maverick” was pure delight.

Born in the '60s and watched Mr. Garner throughout my childhood. The Rockford Files was the first detective show I watched and truly understood, as a young kid. I love the fact that in this day and age we can stream old shows, and I am able to not just watch re-runs of him, but watch season 1, episode 1 and watch the series in its entirety. I don't watch every day/night, but when I'm jonesin' for some Jimmy, I know where to go...
