What great stories! I recall another story of when Peck was filming some of "MacArthur" at West Point. He and his wife saw MacArthur's portrait. She turned to Peck and said "Gregory, he looks like you."
Gregory Peck played the controversial General McCarthur in a television miniseries a few years after this interview. The whole miniseries was so outstanding portraying the genius of General McCarthur and his many flaws. It also closely followed historical facts too. I read thick military history books about the Pacific in WW2 and Korea so I have studied the real General McCarthur in great detail. Gregory Peck performance brought history to life. Gregory Peck was a truly outstanding actor. The average actor can't do the roles he brought to life in the manner he has done them but only the great ones can.

Peck had the presence and the gift of what all great actors have. Their craft come first. Actors of today could learn a thing or two from the older actors from the 30's -70's.....And, of course there was Johnny....enough said.
I also like the way he waved goodbye to the audience prior to him going out the curtain. Unlike other guests that have been on the show. A true gentleman.
Great actor. You can see he was very nervous and not comfortable doing this, but pushed through admirably. A true introvert, but exploded on screen with his acting.
Genuinely classy gentleman, and a fine conversationalist, addressing himself not just to Johnny Carson, but also to Doc Severinsen. He shows dignity and a certain humility, unlike so many actors. Of course, Gregory Peck left us so many good films, including “To Kill A Mockingbird” and “The Guns Of Navarone.” But one of my favourites is one of his later ones, “The Sea Wolves.” It was good to see “The Omen” (which he is promoting here) give his career a real boost.
In my younger days I'd watch The Tonight Show from time to time. Now looking back I really appreciate how good the shows were. Still funny and the template for a successful late night program. There will never be another Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon and definitely not a Gregory Peck. The tough thing is they were with us for so long...such a part huge part of a whole generation's life❤

Wonderful reverberation in his voice
Class ... Peck literally oozes class.
Absolutely!
Gregory was one of the best actors of all time
The only thing that's aged is the set. Johnny and his guests are timeless.
Wassamatta? You don't like that awful mid '70's décor? LOL
In my younger days I'd watch The Tonight Show from time to time. Now looking back I really appreciate how good the shows were. Still funny and the template for a successful late night program. There will never be another Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon and definitely not a Gregory Peck. The tough thing is they were with us for so long...such a part huge part of a whole generation's life❤
Gregory Peck -- in "To Kill a Mockingbird" --- was TERRIFIC!!!
Gregory and Johnny --- RIP!
Gregory got more handsome with age. Compare him here to his appearance (which was also great) in Roman Holiday. What a talent and a fine man.
Looking back to these classic interviews you could see why these iconic actors where successful. Class, talent, humility, down to earth. They connect with the audience on a level that actors can only dream of today.
Great voice and everything else Mr peck you've come a long way and will go further
My favorite actor, bar none.
Also a former President of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
I never saw Peck in a bad picture. Boys From Brazil, To Kill A Mockingbird, Big Country, Guns of Navarrone…classic.
The Gunfighter ,Moby Dick😢
My favourite The Guns of Navrone. Master piece. Forgot how many times I watched !
Class. Pure class. ❤️

Great humanities in those actors from the era nobody can come close Gregory peck one of the all time greats 👍
Peck's not only handsome and talented, but he's charming and amusing too. Damn him!
