  • Hunter Biden's laptop holds untold evils that would take down the whole Biden Administration. But where is it? In this episode, Jordan Klepper sits down with Deputy Director of Rapid Response from Media Matters For America, Andrew Lawrence, who breaks down the beginnings of this conspiracy theory. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) from the House Oversight Committee also joins to discuss his approach to the Hunter Biden investigation, and journalist, author, and former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross offers her ideas on how the media should be fairly and accurately covering this case. #DailyShow #JordanKlepper #Podcast

    Corrections & Clarifications:
    - by State law, Hunter had 1 year, not just 90 days, to pick up the laptop, 9:51
    - the shop owner had no Right to access the data files and rummage thru them, since they were private intellectual property of Hunter Biden, 10:07
    - Mr Isaac had no Right to make copies of the laptop data files, 11:13
    - there is no way to verify the "copied" data from the laptop was not altered
    - Mr Isaac had no Right to distribute the illegal copies of the to anyone 11:15
    - Giuliani and Bannon received stolen property illegally, 11:15
    - Bannon committed fraud when presented his hard drive copy to the New York Post since he knew what he gave them was unlawfully obtained (theft) and unverified (fraud) 11:26
    - the events at Burisma did not happen while private citizen Hunter Biden was working with them,
    - Joe Biden had left office and was a private citizen at the time of the Burisma events,
    - none of the events on the data were illegal at the level that would be prosecuted 19:22
    - (not mentioned) Trump's children working in his administration accepted improper advantages from China, Ivanka got 24 business licenses there), Saudi Arabia, Jared met conditions needed for his later $2 Billion management fund, Qatar, money to buy our from under the Soho debacle, the US, Trump DC Hotel, Germany, Deutsche Bank loans, among other goodies not available if they were not associated with Trump's Presidency,
    - Republicans in Congress did not vet the legality or accuracy of the data which had no verified chain of custody, 22:31
    - all claims against Hunter Biden were speculation, 23:40
It goes off the rails from there

One of my foster daughters introduced me to the concept of saying something over and over again, as if it is truth, knowing the whole while it is BS. She was caught in a lie, and after about 20 denials, and then presented with the hard evidence, admitted she'd learned, while in various institutions, that you could turn a lie, into perceived truth, by repeating the lie often and consistently enough. And it usually works. For example, most people still believe we were attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin which led to us getting into the Vietnam War.

Even if this was a physical laptop he got, there are still some potential legal issues. Because he may have had legal recourse to claim the hardware, but does that give him free range to use Hunter's accounts? Because these were Apple products, you don't just have access to all the data without getting in the accounts themselves. Did Hunter even give this guy the info to get in these accounts? Or did he hack them? And then you start to get into the incredulous nature of some podunk old computer repair dude hacking Apple accounts. Sounds a little out of his league. Pretty on par for a government though...

As for other instances it is both a moral as well as a legal responsibility of the repair shop to report to proper authorities of any suspected criminal activity discovered in the legitimate process of performing repairs, film developing carries the same moral and legal responsibility to report suspected criminal activities they find when developing rolls of film.

I would have thought that he, the shop owne was obligated to wipe the thing clean and not even look at it, much less release the information to anyone except maybe law enforcement?
I'd say that IF there was truly information to prove crimes were committed, especially High Crimes and misdemeanors were committed then giving the info to law enforcement would be ok. But, just giving it to Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon should have been a crime in itself?

The big question is how the laptop got there in the first place, and whether or not the data on it was tampered with before it was taken to the shop. Some of the data has been authenticated, so it seems more and more likely it is Hunter's laptop, or at least the data on it came from Hunter's laptop.
