$1900 for a tenth of a second? Ouch.
Fr😭
Plus the lifetime added cost of premium gas.
so weird to hear and see the whipple name without the actual supercharger!
My same thought.
Ford can tune the 2.3 to 310 hp for $800..
And it doesn't voice your warranty
Where can you get that
Great review and install video like always!
Pretty underwhelmed by the results. Bang for buck, there’s tunes available that do considerably better on the dyno and on the street without an antiquated K&N filter and pointless FMIC replacement. Back to the drawing board, Steeda
antiquated? oiled reusable filters are still the best way to go for high air flow and longevity just because K&N filters have been around a long time doesn't mean they are outdated. In fact it means they are proven time and time again especially if you take care of them like you should.
Dino oil has been around for longer than K&N filters. Leaf springs have been around longer than K&N filters. Does that mean they are the best? A K&N uses outdated technology and while it does flow more air, it does so by also flowing more contaminants in that air. There are many aftermarket options that use synthetic media and flow more air while filtering to a smaller micron count when compared to stock paper and yes, antiquated cotton gauze and oil media.
@@brianchoate7917 that's about the dumbest comparison I've ever heard. I didn't say they were good because they were old, I said they are still good even though they are old. They do not let more contaminants in thats what a prefilter cover and the oil is for. They are excellent filters for atv's/dirt bikes in high dust/dirt environments but talking cars/trucks most people don't even get into that type of environment so even if they weren't good for that, which they are, the point is usually moot. You keep your restrictive synthetic filter if it somehow makes you feel safer just because it's "newer"
Hahaha. You couldn’t be more misinformed if you tried. yOu NEeD a PRefIlTEr foR YoUr filtER. Give me a break. Try doing just the slightest bit of research and you’ll learn something. Or keep your head buried in the sand and keep praising a company that puts zero R&D into any of their products beyond “it fits”. Enjoy that K&N marketing kool aid.
@@brianchoate7917 zero r&d LOL since youre gonna say ive done no research i gotta tell you i've been a powersports mechanic for almost 2 decades building race engines and trying all kinds of different brands of just about every performance part out there using not the seat of my pants but expensive tools including a superflow dyno which i kinda doubt you have access to so im thinking you dont know shite. I never said you need a prefilter but if youre gonna be in high dust/debris areas or in snow its good to have one. just because you think your favorite air filter is the best doesnt mean it is. you sound like one of those guys that had an old abused K&N filter and were too dumb to realize it was bad and now thinks all of them are like that. pretty pathetic bud.
2020 Ranger XLT 4x4 - 5 Star daily 91 tune,aFe intake, aFe down pipes 0-60 5.7 sec @5000ft. Cost me about $1,200 for everything. I also have a 93 performance tune, but I haven’t run it in the truck yet. Thinking, maybe 5.5 0-60 🤷🏻♂️
You forgot to change the trash hot side pipe for the Ranger. It needs it for that Intercooler to be useful.
$2k for 1/10th faster 0-60? Lol.
Exactly. Way overpriced and underperforming kit
Bogged the hell out of that second launch lol Should have done it again instead of making one pass. Seems like someone wanted to head to lunch early hah
Or you can just buy the Ford tune and get the same hp but cheaper.
And full warranty
Why bother, just get a real tune like Livernois
@@Travisj9935 Livernois writes the Ford performance tune. But a custom tune will pick up far more.
@@elliottloomis4383 Livernois does, but their own tune provides more power, obviously without the warranty though.
Should have done a timed acceleration run at higher speeds to see the real world power benefits. I bet there would have been a more noticeable improvement from say 30-80mph
Run a stock ranger on 93 octane and you will see an increase in both HP and torque. The intercooler is an expensive upgrade when all of the heavy lifting is done by the software upgrade. Is the new intercooler a nice product? - yes. Is it really needed?, no. Thanks for sharing.
A tenth? I wouldn't have posted this video...
Would love to see this for a 2020 + 2.3 Explorer.
i didnt know they still made the exploder
Does this mean that you're gonna have to now use the expensive gas?
For this calibration, yes. Whipple recommends 91+ octane. -Chris
TY. But, I trust Ford Motors engineers and scientists. Won't be messing up the Ford product.
Underwhelming.
1st, stock intercooler is pretty beefy, the best improvement is to change the intercooler pipes. It's a shame the Whipple kit doesn't include intercooler pipes.
2nd, just go with the Ford Performance tune over this Whipple tune.
Or if you actually want to make power, go with Livernois Motorsports, who make the Ford Performance tune, or Tory at Unleashed.
That $$$ intercooler won't really shine unless you do back-to-back dyno runs, simulating heat soak.
(Or run for an extended time under boost.)
For that kind of money, I'll be installing a Methanol injection system.
Much cheaper than that expensive intercooler, REALLY lowers IATs, lowers EGTs, plus it cleans the intake valves on a DI engine.
So you confirmed that your tune and parts are slower than just a bone stock truck with FPP warranty tune. Thanks.
There are plenty of other tuners that will get you in the range of 300 to 320 HP with nothing else but the tune. Come on Whipple....do better.
Perhaps, but CARB Approved and 50-State Legal isn't easy while gaining this much power. Hope this helps! -Chris
@@steedaautosports ford performance does 45hp carb legal and no mods
@@steedaautosports Ford Performance tune... Keeps the factory warranty, gains 45 hp and 60 ft lbs, plus is 50 state legal.
Why doesn't the tube delete the limiter?
I saw a 93 tune added 50hp and 50 trQ
Can they just put the damn 2.7 in the Ranger… I have been waiting to buy one hoping they put a 2.7 in the ranger.
i have a 2020 ranger XLT with FX4 that speed limiter stops it at 110mph and my thing is if i tune my truck will it also change my over all top speed also cause tuning for better and higher performance but keeping top speed the same is pointless to me
Don’t forget your tires are rated for 112 mph max
It hurt like hell saying a tenth of a second faster didn’t it?😂
Seems kinda lazy compared to the livernois tune
Unleashed tune only in my 21 lariat fx4 supercrew is faster......
Can that same kind of kit be installed on the 2.3l mustangs?
Whipple has a kit that's designed for the Mustangs you can find here -> www.steeda.com/whipple-eb-8000-mustang-ecoboost-stage-1-kit
torque is way more important than HP especially in 1/4 mile runs. more torque you will need a factor more in HP to beat me at the end of the track. the price tag for all of this is way out of line for the performance gain. lastly its a truck and again torque talks and hp is along for the ride.
why didnt you show the torque numbers? ah just watched the end. seeing horsepower is just a reflection of torque im not sure why you cant get torque numbers but im sure you know what you are talking about.
We had issues getting a solid RPM signal off of the coil pack of this Ranger. Because we couldn't get an RPM signal, we couldn't measure torque. Hope this helps! -Chris
@@steedaautosports oh yeah that makes sense i missed where you said that!
Why wouldn't they put the 2.7 or even the 3.0 in this truck? The 3.0 would have been amazing. Gas mileage would be so much better too. The weight difference isn't much compared to the power
Lol, my untuned 2021 Lariat is already fast enough, can think of better ways to spend the money.
Seems like a weird mod for a small 2.3 L 4cyc?
No make sense for me . All that job a don't see huge difference. I did intake , bov and exhaust with factory tune and gain 44 hp at the tire
Waste of money!! The ford procal is 600 bucks will gain a full second 0/60 why would you do this for 1 tenth lol 😂
🤔🤔🤔
$1,900?!?!
Weird it only gained 50 HP with all of that when just tuners are claiming to get that with JUST a tune. 👎🏼👎🏼
Someone should do an electric fan kit for these to really wake the truck up.
California won’t allow it as of today
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 STOP IT!!
too costly for the actual driving gain.
Ford tune is cheaper and faster
Yea.. no thanks!
I think ford sells a tune for 800 that gives better gains.
Blue Oval has it for $600 👍🏼
Haha
Eww.
Yeah this is stupid lol
Just a tune can get 0-60 of 5.4 to 5.7 lol this is a joke and waste of money.
So sick of fail videos.
What a joke...
