Thanks for this, very helpful. I followed your example and got one for use with my Ridgid 5 HP shop vac dust collection "system". Works great. I did drop the remote too many times and the shut off function stopped working. On still worked so I removed the battery cover, tweaked the battery contacts and reassembled it. It works fine now. Though this info might be helpful to others. Thinking of getting another one just to have two remotes.

    Great find!
My wife actually had one laying around from last year after she put her x-mas tree away and when she saw me going back and forth to my shop-vac to turn it on and off she took off upstairs and came back with something similar to that. I can't remember the brand but it's function is the same.

That dust collector is 20 amps according to the specs. Has it burned out yet?

They will go on clearance after the season as well. Picked up couple two years ago and did the same thing.

@@termitewoodwerx5896 works great! Use one for my shop lights too. Have a switch on the wall for basic lights but have line run for shop lights like at each bench too. So if I’m not in there to get work done I only need little light.

You might be able to grab a few more and they might be on the same frequency so you can use the other remotes at other tools. They might also have dip switches for frequency setting. Just set them all the same.

I'll open it up later today and see if there's dio switches. Good idea!

If they are cheap cheap then they might not be frequency agile but that wouldn’t matter to you. That would mean they’d all work on the same default frequency.

Just opened it up. There's not much in there. (The remote. ) Two buttons, one integrated circuit of some sort, a couple diodes, and a crystal oscillator. Can't change anything.
I'm guessing I could buy another one and solder in a new crystal of the same frequency. Not sure that would work. I didn't study much of the radio aspect of electronics.

You might get lucky then in just trying another one. They all are likely on the same frequency for cost. Might be worth another $10. You can always take it back 😁

    The specs say 1/3 hp.......

I saw that. But that makes no sense.
3/4 horsepower equates to 560 watts.
15 amps on a 115v circuit equates to 1725 watts.
      So, which one is it?

@@termitewoodwerx5896 You don't understand the difference between a rating for resistive loads vs inductive loads. This item is way underrated for your application.
