LOL, Ananda at the end...toddling away and Aorn bringng him back. What you call candy floss we call cotton candy. :-) Those Thai sausages make my mouth water every time...so many varieties you've shown us. Thanks for another great vid w/ your fam.
I was wondering if anyone would notice that :). In Australia we actually call it "fairy floss". I started using "candy floss" because I thought that was the universal name, it seems it's the British name. You might see it referred to as "cotton candy" in the future ;). Yes, I do love the Thai sausages, there are so many different types, I tried another new one way down south on an island near the Malaysian border on Wednesday. Videos from that trip coming soon :)
I just love your videos I wish I could come to Thailand and try all the food that you show on your videos it all looks so delicious I wish there was a Thai restaurant where I lived that served the food you show I would eat there everyday. Keep posting your videos I never miss them
New subscriber here and currently binge watching through your channel, really great content and an absolute god send for food lovers who are heading out to Thailand in the future!
Thanks Darren love your videos. Me and my wife are going to Phuket in August and I wouldn't know what half this stuff was without watching you. Cheers mate.
It's just before 6pm here in Perth and we usually watch your video every Wednesday just before dinner. My wife and I now call Wednesday night Thai night. Your videos certainly give us a great Thai appetite. Thanks Darren Haha
Thanks Peter! Yes, there’s always plenty of sweets at markets in Thailand, it’s a great country to visit if you’re a sweet tooth. We’re all good thanks, I hope all is well in Sydney too!
I love all your beautiful video love to watch your cute son eating he is very good boy thank you for sharing Bless you all have a good day. 4-1-19: Thanks.
The big spring rolls are called Popiah Darren, they usually have jicama, boiled egg, beansprouts and a spicy sauce. They're a Hokkien/Teochew speciality and are really tasty.
Thanks for your videos! My partner and I are travelling over and staying in Patong in a few weeks and we found one of your videos now we watch regularly 😊 I do have an idea to save us getting our converter calculator out, maybe you could put prices in AUD also?
Hi Nicol, thanks for watching, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos :). Most of my views come from the USA and the US dollar is about as close to an international currency as the world has, that's why I include prices in $US. Unfortunately I don't get that many views from Australia, I get more from Malaysia, India, Singapore and the UK and I also get requests to put prices in the currencies of those countries. If I were to include all of them it would take me hours and my videos would have a lot more text than I want, so at this stage, unfortunately it isn't going to happen. It's pretty easy to convert Thai baht to Australian dollars. 25 baht is roughly $1AU, 50 baht is roughly $2AU, 100 baht is roughly $4AU, etc. Another way to think of it is 5 baht is roughly 20 cents AU. I hope that helps.
Thanks for the reply ☺️ I totally understand! I thought there'd be many more viewers from Australia. If you are around Phuket from the 8th to the 23rd of July we would love to meet you or have a meal with you somewhere. Can't wait for the next video 😊
Nice one darren. Your son might have given the candy floss a go. Im not a fan of it as its too sweet for me but im sure Ananda would have liked it. All the best to you and your wonderful family. greg
Thanks a lot Greg! Unfortunately Ananda has become a bit fussy over the last few months. If he doesn’t like the look of something there’s no way he’ll try it and he didn’t like the look of those roti sai mais. All the best to you and the family too!
I've been to BKK recently and it's true what you're saying; street food there is not only a substantial part of tourism but many locals purchase food on the "street". It would be fantastic to try and organise it, but banning it without offering alternatives would end in disaster.
Sure, street food is an important part of Bangkok’s food culture. I believe that the actions are just restricted to Bangkok. Here’s an interesting article from a couple of days ago about the latest developments: www.bangkokpost.com/news/general/1237218/
At the end, I saw your son and had to smile, off exploring like his father, till his mom scooped him up.

Fascinating is grape sea weed indigenous to Thailand? Is this cultivated in tanks anywhere? Do you have any more information?
Besides how it tastes unfortunately I know nothing about it.
What actually is that sweet orange shredded stuff that's always popping up?
It's sweetened shredded coconut.
Pán nemusí jíst, je vyžraný dost.
What about fried insects?
I didn’t see any on the day I was there, but most markets in Phuket do have them.
hei Darren, is it true that Thailand is planning on banning all street food across the country?
just in bangkok apparently
I've been to BKK recently and it's true what you're saying; street food there is not only a substantial part of tourism but many locals purchase food on the "street". It would be fantastic to try and organise it, but banning it without offering alternatives would end in disaster.
That'll affect tourism, and that's the city's blood
