- Comedian Jay Leno is the proud new owner of Seafair, a majestic oceanfront estate in Newport, Rhode Island. Here's a looks at the $13.5-million property.
The crescent-shaped house sits on a prime six-acre plot in tony Newport.
It's located on Ocean Drive, which the Boston Globe calls "among the highest of Newport’s high-rent districts."
Built in 1936 by architect Jame Mackenzie, Jr., the home has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.

I have loved this house in Newport for over 40 years and always drive by it when in Newport! It also was offered at $19 million, so yes he did get a bargain! If you know the history of the house, it has tragically flooded with the ocean coming in the back, through the house and out the front door. Lives were also sadly lost. I hope that Mr. Leno can have engineers create some kind elevation, wall etc. for his safety and to protect such a magnificent home. Just finished a book on Newport and one of the homes former owners and her history were noted in the book.

Closer to the road it looks like there's a beach. At the time google satellite took pictures it appears that would be a tough beach. Looks like lots of wind.
Its hard to imagine that homes less than alot of Manhattan Coops,cost wise.
The funny thing is that he has a single car worth more than that mansion.
His McLaren F1 is worth 14-15 million, although prob much more being celebrity owned

@@SpiderPigggg Yes that's an epic story! I've told that story to others. Also, my sister-in-law used to work at a place near LA called "The Rock Store" as a waitress. One time she was the waitress for Jay and also a real a-hole customer who then didn't give her a tip. She made a quick comment to Jay about the other guy being a jerk, and Jay went over to him (I think he was outside by then) and shammed the guy into giving her a tip and apologizing to her. True story. Good guy (well, maybe not what he did to Conan, but in his personal life) :)

I hope when the sale took place disclosures were made regarding the flooding problem. I know Jay love cars salt water and cars don’t mix. Lovely house with one of the best views of the ocean in RI. I am a Rhode Island resident and my favorite city is Newport.

@@SLKAMG1 Actually, a house is a very accurate barometer to judge a rich man. Right up there with choice of cars and watches. But if it dries your tears any, I'm a huge fan of Jay. Nothing wrong with not being such a regular guy, it's just odd he has such a strong reputation as one. He's a GOOD guy, but far from regular
@@ikigai47 Well. he worked hard to get where he is ,the guy used to be sleep in real estate homes. People always looking at envy of the rich instead we should take risk and be persistent like a lot of them to get that same position.
Who ever suggested Leno was a "regular guy"? He has a net worth around $500M (probably more), so he's hardly a "regular guy" by that standard alone.

its a long way from andover. hard to picture a guy in jeans and a denim shirt inside but so be it.
I live in providence, RI and trust me homes here are extremely cheap when compared to others out of state, 7M dollars here can get you about 3-4 acres, a 8K square foot home and with a above average ocean view unlike in NY 7 million would only give you a high end apartment most of the time lol
$7M buys you a lot pretty much anywhere in the world, except for a select few world class cities. Personally, I'd rather have a place like this, out in the country and with some acreage, away from the noise and hordes of the great unwashed.

I saw an interview with Leno who said he lived off his stand-up money earned and never touched his salary from doing The Tonight Show. It's a bit hard to believe this as this is just one of his homes.
just read, in 2020, this mansion is 5 condos, and Leno bought four of the 5 together, so he'll have a very close neighbor/housemate lol
Only things missing are a private zoo and Elephant Man skeleton. Wonder how much staff it takes to keep it going? Would feel like living in a hotel to me, BUT, to each his own..

I once read Jay Leno's garage was in Blackstone Massachusetts.
He has a 115,000 sq. ft building in an industrial park in California where most of his collection is, he probably has a building in the vicinity of this house for his east coast cars, he owns over 150 vehicles.

@@jrcwwl as soon as I start stinking I take a hot bath. anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, just depends on how active i am. Uou know in the early 1800's people thought taking too many baths was bad for you, and I agree. currently, it's only been 10 days so i have a while to go before I need another bath. Also the food you eat affects how much you stink, I eat healthy food, not a lot of meat so I don't stink as quick.
