I've been listening to Valter Longo (creator). He doesn't promote this as a weight loss diet, although it does that too. He claims it is designed to affect healthiness and increase longevity. If followed, as a periodic, fasting-mimicking-diet FMD, the diet puts you in the fasting state. This allows the body to fix itself. It's also designed to help you feel sated, thus helping you complete it successfully. Weight loss is a byproduct. I'm on day five and feel both better and different. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the great review. I didn't realize we were supposed to sip the L drink! Whoops. The FB group also has helped me a lot. Other tips were to use more water than the soup calls for so you can feel fuller longer and to split the kale crackers up for two meals...most people did 2 at lunch and 3 at dinner. Also, apparently you can have a small Persian cucumber if you get really hungry. And someone else said that the staff said you can have a stalk of celery and some apple slices if you feel weak. I'm finishing up day 4. I'm glad I did it because I needed a reset...I have insulin resistance...and will switch to 5/2 moving forward. So far, down 4.2 pounds and I confess, I cheated a bit. I had a lot more cucumber with my meals and some Benefiber in my decaff coffee. (like you, been decaff for a long while). Cheers!
@@FunAtico100 not really. I thought it was working because my weight was fine. But in September I found out my blood sugars had gone from 120 to 180. I then started 36 hour water fasts twice a week. In 2 months, my sugars became normal back to 110, I lost 10% weight, lost 2” on my waist. So FMD is great to get you started but it’s useless to reverse diabetes or restore your long term health

It was really easy to follow, the food was good, and I lost a few pounds. I am definitely going to do two more rounds. One in February, and one in March. Great review. I am on day 3 currently and I feel much the same way. Definitely not as hungry as I was expecting to be. I agree all the food tastes great, there just isn't much of it, especially on day 3. I was worried about how it would taste and was very pleasantly surprised. The daily coaching Zoom calls with ProLon and other participants has been tremendously helpful. Getting the tips has definitely made things easier, like today when I ate one cracker for a snack after my L-Bar, then another with my lunch soup, another for an afternoon snack and two with my dinner soup, which I also have about an hour before bed so I don't wake up hungry. Switching which soup you have for lunch and dinner is acceptable too. You can switch things around as long as it is in the same day. No switching different day foods.

I completely understand. When you get hungry drink more liquids, like black coffee or tea. If you ever get to feeling unwell during it then you should stop and call them. They have a very generous refund policy if it makes you feel sick or unwell.

I just finished Day 2 of Prolom. I felt quite energetic throughout both days. I did Intermittent fast for a couple of weeks before starting with an eating window of between noon and 7 pm and continued the same window for during the first 2 days of Prolong and will continue through day 5, which is probably why I didn’t feel hungry until noon. The intermittent fasting allows for larger Prlon meals for the rest of the day. I ate1/3 of my food ar noon, 3 pm and 7 pm and didn’t suffer energy wise either day. I look forward to day 3 tomorrow 😮.

Great review and one of few people to be so positive about this plan. People have complained that it's powder food but at the end of the day they are trying to get this into hospitals to assist people who have chronic illness. Those people may have never heard of fasting and may struggle with the thought of it. Putting food in an easy to follow package form that's non gmo is a great way for them to start the healing process.
Patients in hospitals may also be on a liquid diet for reasons of illness. Like being tube fed. So, I am unsure whether I should be impressed that hospitals like it.
I’m on day one ~ and am pretty happy. But ( for me anyway ) this is expensive. I’m going to try to mimic these meals so I can afford to do this again in the future. The L-Drink might be the hard one to mimic.
I had to make 2 changes. The LDrink (glycol) was horrible. The small amount gave me gas and diarrhea- didn't play fair! Tossed that. The nut bar had to much sugar and on the 3rd day for breakfast put me into diabetic shock, I substitute it for 1 whole egg and the yoke of another for breakfast. I would do it again with my modifications. I lost 6lbs. It's a great way to jump back into a better eating habits that I fell out of. My stomach shank so I get full very fast now.

It is not the L-drink. When your body starts using Ketone bodies, they are also a strong appetite suppressant. Many people who water fast for long periods really don't get hungry after day 2 or so.
ProLon is not intermittent fasting! It is fast-mimicking. That is not the same. And weight loss is a side-effect but not the goal of the FMD. Please read Valter Longo’s book!

Does anyone have advice for handling how sweet the L bars are? I’m on day one and it was so hard for me to eat it in the morning for breakfast it felt like I was waking up and eating dessert🤢it’s sooo sweet to me. I know I can eat it later in the day but man it’s hard to choke down
I quit eating sugar about three years ago. I just ordered this for the first time and when I get it, I may figure out something else to have for breakfast, as I too would not be able to handle the intense sweetness.
God I'm jealous that you like the taste of this. I'm on my 6th round now and it hasn't gotten easier for me. I have to give my mom all the olives because they make me want to throw up. And the soups I can only eat some of them. I've tried both recipes and agree the original is better but still hard for me. I like the l bar and l drink though. And I feel great still.

Seriously, people? This is Dr. Roy Taylor's low calorie protocol. But its only five days instead of 8-12 weeks,but same idea. Ironically, this is a keto , or low carb diet. You could also try carnivore ,but, keto is easier to start out with. Hunger will go away after 3-4 days, then intermittent fasting , which is what prolon is imitating, becomes much easier. And guess what? It doesn't cost an arm and a leg, just some discipline! The key is that less eating shuts down the hunger signals, carbs are what multiply hunger signals, that 2 hours and I am hungry again feeling!

The ingredients are listed on the back. Why say you have no idea what made tomato soup so tasty? It would have helped if you never rattled package. Buying the kit is to help research. I would rather buy ingredients & make my own as with most people. Another video that gave almost no information of what the kit is.

It also produces a feeling of satiety/full stomach - thus the admonitions to drink it slowly thruout the day. Glycerol can be bought from Amazon or other outlets and added to your drinks during the day in small amounts to produce the same effect.

They’re taking something that is beneficial and using it’s branding to sell junk that will make people fat and hungry after trying to live off of soup and granola bars. Stop eating, your body is made to survive. Add some salt so you don’t get the keto flu, eat some healthy fats and protein, and save your goddamn money and health people.
No more water bottle as of 2024, food has seed oils and natural flavors. DIY it instead. It’s expensive, toxic space food that tastes awful. I would take a hard pass.

It's actually 10 soups :) The idea is that they are formulated specifically for the purposes stated on their site. I agree, it isn't for everyone, but it worked for me both times that I did it.

I’ve been doing this since 2017. It’s really the best alternative to fasting.

@@FunAtico100 strongly recommend doing 36 hour fasts. There is an exponential benefit from extending the fast by additional 12 hours

@@priscaseras you can also add a herb tea to change the flavor if you don't like it.
I would try to follow there macros. It’s low protein. So maybe some nuts is better if you can’t eat the bar.

if I go travling,, I will try this product. Every travelling I have to quit exercise and eat a lot of resturant food and gain 10 lbs.

Not when I continued a fasting diet and only eating unprocessed foods, when I went back to eating junk food and processed foods I did.

I don't think one cup of non-decaf would hurt.
Blood tests would’ve really shown the real benefits beyond your 5 pound weight loss.

Correct, it is not a fasting diet, it is a fasting mimicking diet. This just means that it mimics many of the effects of fasting.
Prolon will not cancel my subscription. I’ve emailed several times. The food tastes awful.

The idea is that they are formulated specifically for the purposes stated on their site. I agree, it isn't for everyone, but it worked for me both times that I did it.
Totally worth the money. Health is number one. Don’t be cheap. Do it!
It’s not a joke. You are free to put together your own version with the recipes, but for some folks, it’s a wonderful option
