My favourite kind of podcast episodes are the ones where genuine conversation just flows and becomes so insightful and eye-opening and literally almost feels like everyone involved just had a therapy session by the end, and that's exactly what this episode just gave. Tegan and Sara were brilliantly and compassionately articulate in giving voice to the harmful effects of the parasociality we often see with specific subsections of queer fans and why that happens etc. and Shannon keeps just improving more and more as a podcast host each time in helping to facilitate this natural flow of engaging, thought-provoking conversation. Great job all around from everyone! Great episode! ❤
Love how the whole podcast were pure and genuine conversation which a lot of people can relate on, especially with social media. 💖Also Tegan and Sara were my whole teenager era, so its nostalgic at the same time. They really helped me with all their music to understand myself better💝
As a social worker and Tegan and Sara fan I was so intrigued by Fanatical. Boundaries are so important in every space and are SO CHALLENGING but people in public figure spaces have a unique challenge in setting and maintaining those boundaries. I appreciate their openness and transparency in talking about something that needs to be talked about more. So many of the things I see arise in the communities and organizations I work with is the need for digital boundaries not just real life boundaries. Great chat!
I relate to the crooked teeth thing. I have an overbite and my teeth are a lil imperfect on the bottom row because I never went to the dentist as a kid (couldn't afford it). I was just talking about this last week. Every now and then I contemplate getting adult braces or veneers in the future but then I remember how much I like my smile as is. Honestly I think there is charm in having an imperfect smile.
I loved this episode. The conversation about them having parasocial relationships with their stage selves was nice to hear. Tegan and Sara's self awareness is refreshing.
I wish Tegan and Sara would have their own podcast. It’s so scary that someone impersonated Tegan online. I watched the documentary and felt shocked by the ending.
I think being around your family grounds you. With us you know you’re loved to your core. Can’t wait to see you this weekend.❤ Loved your guests and the conversation.
"Every album is a failed relationship." Hahaha, too real. Also, another delightful episode, I may be late to the party, but I'm officially a fan of Tegan and Sara!! This was such a lovely and candid conversation among the three of you. 💖
I actually only know tegan & sara through you talking about them so this is the first thing I’ve really seen of them and I loved the conversation in this episode! they are both so well spoken and funny- their vocabulary is impressive too haha. also I realize someone else can tell you something all they want and you only believe your opinions on yourself, but for the record, I think imperfect teeth are so endearing! they are part of what makes you you.
Listening to this made me realise just how heinous online discourse can be, and at the same time, it gave me such hope for the world. I think being online a lot can really make you see the worst in humans, and hearing your compassionate, thoughtful conversation healed something in me and reminded me that there are many people like you three out there. Thank you!!!
What a great show with Tegan and Sara! I was so excited to hear that they were going to be on your show. I saw the documentary and it was mind boggling and infuriating but also to see Tegans compassion towards the person who catfished her was very humbling. I’ve been catfished before and now I see that person differently by watching the documentary.
I love tegan and sara so much and I genuinely don’t think we’ll ever see two people so authentic and wise and insightful again in the public queer space
Ohh, Tegan and Sara!!! That makes me so happy🥰 I once suggested months ago that you should get them as guests on the pod (in the one with Raven and Miranda )but I didn't believe this would actually become reality. I'm really looking forward to the new studio! I always feel like in this set, the guests sit soooo far away which makes it a bit more professional/less casual😅 (The episodes are still great though)
Hoping to fix the “algorithms “….by my comments! I’m a Canadian, born and raised in Chilliwack, B.C. an hour away from Vancouver B.C. I’ve followed your music for many years! Seen you both in concert, and understand the way you both built your careers!
53:38 It's funny to me that Tegan didn't understand why people were mad that she had a girlfriend despite wanting lesbian representation. They were mad because Tegan, who they wanted to date, was now taken! Fame's such an interesting topic and it seems like there are blind spots on both the fan and artists' sides. Regarding online hate, I would say that famous people don't usually interact with fans for the most part. If I leave a comment on an artist's instagram or youtube or wherever, I really don't expect to get a reply or a like. So, it's easy to feel like you ARE in a private group chat with other "civilians" and the "stars" won't see it. I'm sure that if people knew that the celebrity was reading their comments, they would be nicer, but when there's no acknowledgement from them, it's the easiest thing in the world to feel like they're not there. Famous people often say fame is terrible, but they never really go into detail, so it's cool to finally see behind the curtain a bit.
PS: Learning about the Emy breakup is heartbreaking, I just went through something like that and can't imagine having everyone being on the other person's side when she's the one who left :(
Okay Shan hear me out, Sky Felts as a guest. I had a dream about it and I think it is necessary! She was such a huge part of my coming out story, watching her videos and your videos were life changing. Im not sure how active she is on the internet, but if you could get the scoop on her and Karin's relationship even??? GOLD Anyways Tegan and Sara is a huge slay
Okay I really loved this episode but neither of them got to ever finish a story?! They just keep interrupting each other!! Like what was Sara gonna say about her ex Emy?
wait had shannon & becca only been together like 2 months when they announced it? i guess this was probably recorded a while ago so it's not actually that they've only been together 5 months and they announced it 3 months ago
next step is getting Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey on this pod (and Shannon on theirs) can you imagine??
Omg!!!! THIS!!!
Literally anyone from
The L Word!!! Yesssss
I WOULD DIE!!
pretty, pretty please someone make it happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leisha Hailey is the bomb! Been a Murmurs fan since the mid-90's!!
I am in love with the room decor! Also, I cannot believe you got Tegan and Sara!! My teenage self is screaming

I've never clicked on anything faster
I am absolutely not well, I have loved Tegan and Sara for years and I am so happy they’re on this podcast

Still so human and true, you're such an angel in my eyes, Shannon ❤
i’ll never forgive you for not having tegan and sara in your bed.
After their stalker stories, I cant say I blame them if they declined the bedroom set💀
They probably were not comfortable with that but I know what you mean
They weren’t in the bedroom because that set is not ready lol not because they “weren’t comfortable”
I hate the bed set up tbh 😢😢😢😢 I woul hate to see THEM especially uncomfortable in a bed ahahah this set up is greattt!!!
I love Tegan and Sara. They're my birthday twins, and my name is also Sarah. 😭
I love tegan and sara so much and I genuinely don’t think we’ll ever see two people so authentic and wise and insightful again in the public queer space

Podcast goals: An episode with all your exes in one room together.
Great, great convo! Thank you, all!!

bear's little outfit!! 😭❤️❤️
knew this would be good and it exceeded expectations. such a good, important conversation.
I love it when the host of an interview is an actual fan of the people being interviewed
PS: Learning about the Emy breakup is heartbreaking, I just went through something like that and can't imagine having everyone being on the other person's side when she's the one who left :(
Love! Honestly too many feelings to even say anything of significance so just love 💕

I live in London these days & it depends where you go. Still try get converted but Soho is always a win. Recommend Hampstead Heath ladies pond 🥰
Tegan and Sara cut each other off for an hour straight
Omg I admire this 3 humans ❤

But..you can clearly see the sibling rivalry.
This was absolutely amazing 😍 love tegan and sara they are both queer legends they both look so young still ❤🏳️🌈
Always interesting to see and hear what Tegan and Sara have to say

Sorry....Tegan and Sara?! How? Oh I'm here and locked in.
This video should be called “Tegan and Shannon” lol Tegan hardly lets Sarah speak
Okay I really loved this episode but neither of them got to ever finish a story?! They just keep interrupting each other!! Like what was Sara gonna say about her ex Emy?
Why am I up😭🤧
hi bear😂
Can someone please tell me what sara's haircut is called?
5:00 Start
Okay side note but how do you fumble Sara 😭 people truly shock me.
Such a great podcast episode! You should have a queer author in a future episode!
wait had shannon & becca only been together like 2 months when they announced it? i guess this was probably recorded a while ago so it's not actually that they've only been together 5 months and they announced it 3 months ago
No they are official since may. Becca told about it in her podcast
They are dating since Jan
Now I really want to know what álbuns they don’t think are good
I think it's their first 2-3 albums. They've said before that they don't see those as their strongest work
Kee to Bala hat? Is that stolen from your Toronto bff?
Could we get renne rapp !!
you are all beautiful whatever any1 else says.
💞
The table is so huge .. the guest is so far from you Shannon!
Shannon is a beautiful woman, glad she is trying to lose the ball cap...

This is awesome! I can’t believe it 🥹💖 made me go back to my middle and high school days!
I have a ton of empathy for all the fake old men sex predators pretending to be women now truly.....
#pride🌈😊✌️ ps t + s are so funny + talented
I know you’ve talked about how getting Ashlyn Harris would be a dream for you but any chance we could get Ali Krieger as well? 🫣
