I am a sis genx straight woman and ive been crying in public all week. I needed this laugh. On election night i kept trying to find a news outlet that i wanted to watch. Local news, cnn, the bbc even. Then early on in the night i stumbled upon Bob the Drag Queens live. Let me tell you i have never learned and actually understood MORE about how the process works and how the electrical college works. Yall im 43 and they explained it so well. I got it! I have nwver felt more calm and comforted. I have never laughed and cried so much. I had such a gentle place to watch that nightmare unfold and i am forever grateful for Bob and guests that night. With this podcast obviously its recorded months weeks ahead and i really dont expect them to like make a serious statement at all. I expect they will have remarks and opinions slid in there in the future when episodes air. But THIS on a Tuesday morning is exactly what i need to forget for an hour. Im scared for my friends. Im scared for my kids. Im scared for myself. But just for 1 hr i can laugh and breathe and thats what i need today.
@@AlainDeeThere is indeed joy to be had, but really, dude. Do not ever tell a woman how to feel. We’ve been hearing it all our lives and we do not want to hear it again. I cannot believe I have to tell you this.
The fact that Mae was shown Rocky Horror at five years old explains everything about them. All the love to their parents for setting the groundwork that became our beloved Mae.
I saw it when I was in 4th grade! I loved everyone in that movie! My friends Moms gave us props to have the most fun! Toast! Water guns! Rain ponchos! Pbbbbttt so great! 😂
My grandparents took me with them to go see Hair in the movie theater when I was like 6 - first on screen full frontal nudity experience. 😆 Shocking to say the least! I'm grateful to have had liberal grandparents, tho my experience of my childhood with my mother (their daughter) was pretty much awful 😢
We need an entire Handsome pod video where Fortune fully sings her favorite songs for an hour and Tig and Mae play the appreciating audience. I love Fortune’s singing voice !! 🎶🎧🎸
Team Handsome thank you sooooooo much for mentioning WNC! I am hailing from Asheville and there are a lot of fans here. It means a lot for y’all to keep talking about us as we recover! Also thank you for mentioning Beloved Asheville - they have done so much work. Also the Grassroots Aid Partnership kept so many of us fed! Plus Chef Bailey - a huge fan of y’all- traveled around and fed folks throughout the region! We love you!!!
memorable monologue from Julia Sugarbaker comes from the episode “Killing All the Right People,” where she fiercely responds to a client who makes disparaging remarks about a young man with AIDS. Julia stands up for compassion and acceptance, and the monologue has resonated for its powerful message. Here’s an excerpt: “I’m saying, if God was giving out sexually transmitted diseases to people as a punishment for sin, then you would be at the free clinic all the time. And so would the rest of us! I think picking out who God thinks is immoral is the Lord’s business. I think that He can handle it himself. And I don’t think that you or any other human being should be passing judgment on anyone else!” This scene captures Julia’s unwavering sense of justice and her determination to stand up for others, especially in moments when compassion and understanding are most needed.
Will never forget being at an all day concert mostly drunk and under some influence, sitting on a low wall off to the side of a main walkway in between bands when a group of dudes walk up and say "hey mind if we hack here?" We were like sure. These dudes went for it and we just sat there watching for the longest time and it was the funniest thing. For years after we would randomly say "hey mind if I hack here"😂 probably one of those had to be there thangs lmao
FORTUNE'S CRUSH ON SANDRA BULLOCK IN WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING IS SOOOOO RELATABLE! ❤️ I watch it every year and I feel like this might have been an eye-opening realization for me 😂
Is this the post-US election pod or maybe recorded beforehand? Happy to be here, either way. I’m hoping the Handsome Hosts will address it at some point, even briefly. So much LOVE to everyone in this chat today! ❤❤❤🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💙🩵
Yes, it's a bit confusing as last Tuesday they were encouraging everyone to 'vote today' and this week there's been no mention of it. It seems that this one predates the last one. I think the other poster is correct and the eps are just out of order, which seems a bit bizarre if you don't realise it.
@@booker4629 exactly. that's why I was wondering and hoping. I know it will come up in the pod at some point. I didn't realize the order wasn't chronological. I appreciate you and the other poster pointing that out. 💖
I work in water pollution prevention/management - after a rain, the reason you don't want to swim in lakes/rivers/oceans is because it's gross af. Facts, write it down.
Tig's "These are good sayings, let me write this down" bit cracks me up! Funny also to imagine how many people hear that and don't realize she's doing a bit.
I'm telling you - Fortune and I would have been besties had we known each other growing up: Joe and the Button Factory, Designing Women! FYI, Designing Women is one of the best shows ever made! I loved Julia's soapbox moments, but Mary Jo was my lady ❤❤ Also, thanks for the new phobia, guys. I never thought of relaxing in bed and being hit by a meteor, but now . . . I shall!
Before any answers were said, I thought of my celebrity crush and new it would date me....then Tig said mine!!! but it's john travolta as vinnie barbarino. Seen and Validated. I love listening to this podcast.
Dixie Carter, Annie Potts, Jean Smart and Delta Burke were the ladies of Designing Women. (Surely the name Jean Smart resonates with you today because of Hacks?) I was in my mid 20's and adored that show. To me they were the woman I wanted to be in my thirties and onward. Next to Golden Girls, it was one of the smartest funniest shows about and with women. But I am also with Tig in having a crush on Urban Cowboy vintage John Travolta
FORTUNE! If you’ve never seen Monet X Change and Jinkx Monsoon lip sync to Julia Sugarbaker’s “the night the lights went out in Georgia” monologue on drag race, stop what you’re doing and watch right now
Why are people in the comments asking about the election? Why would Tig, Fortune, and Mae need to comment on politics? That's not what this show is about.
Casey Kasem was also the voice of Shaggy on Scooby Doo. Zoinks! I’m a 62 year old gay man and my early celebrity crushes were Jack Wilde on HR Pufnstuf and Dave’s Jones in the Monkees. And also Mighty Mouse when I was quite young. I fantasized about living with Mighty Mouse in the tree where he lived underground.
Tig! My 1st crush was “Sissy” from Urban Cowboy. Lord have mercy on my little gay heart! On a side note, I used to give John Travolta his daily “wake up” calls back in the early early 90’s. He was the sweetest man. Very handsome! I did get to work for Debra Winger for a few months back then as well. Those were the days. Young and care free.
Yes Mae! I was really young when I saw Rocky Horror too, & I was (still am) obsessed with Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry)!! My very first celebrity crush was Drew Barrymore when I was 5 years old…& she still is…& then a few years later I was all about Corey Haim!
Older gay guy here. My first celebrity crush: Lee Majors circa 1969 in The Big Valley. This is 25 year old Lee Majors. My ten-year-old self saw handsome cowboys rip off their shirts and get physical. I had feelings.
Seriously? I absolutely loved Designing Women…I began rewatching the series (I really don’t follow entertainment news, but I feel Jean Smart’s longevity and appeal, especially on the small screen, isn’t acknowledged enough…this is not necessarily the norm in the television industry). Can’t believe Tig has never even heard of it…and I’m sorry, but you cannot call “spoiler alert” on a movie that came out more than 25 years ago 😆🤣 Love this group of Pretty Little Ladies!
I had to think hard on this one..first crush was John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard era). Now I tend to crush on people like Drew Carey. Lol. My tastee have changed.
Similar for me: had a crush on Joey from NKOTB and Donnie's Lil bro, Marky Mark with his Funky Bunch. En Vogue was in constant competition for my attention too!
I have been GAY since birth. I NEVER had a crush on a gilr. I remember being 4 in the early 60's and having a crush on the animated Spider Man! AND the live action Batman AND ROBIN!!!! with Adam West and Burt Ward! WOW!!! Then I thought Charlie's Angels were beautiful as a teen, but NEVER wanted to touch them. Just thought they were beautiful. Maybe wanted to do their hair or something.....
