"Hello, my name is Joe...and I work in a button Factory. I have a wife, 3 kids, and a family. One day, my boss walked up to me and said "Hi Joe, are you busy?" "I said no" he said "Turn, the button with your left hand"... And on and on until it's like "Sit down!" 😂😂 👍

My favorite part of these podcasts is when Tig says "Fortune!" in that surprised/dissapointed mom voice.

Nope. Everyone is not neurodivergent. Not everyone has ADHD, not everyone has autism (not that those are the only categories of neurodivergence) - the vast majority of people are neurotypical. The definition isn’t “thinking you’re different from others.” It’s “your brain chemistry literally being different from the typical brain.”

OMG I died when Fortune started singing about Joe and the Button-factory. I am from Norway and we always sang this song in school, just a bit different in Norwegian.

  • @thewonkypenguin

I've bookmarked this episode for when I'm having a bad day. The way Tig and Mae try to hang with Fortune when she starts her song and then reality sets in that THIS is really it is my favorite moment in podcast history.

I’m 20 minutes in on the audio podcast right now and I can’t breathe. I’m literally crying with tears coming down my face, trying to catch my breath from their reaction to Fortune’s button factory “rhyming” song! 🤣😭💀

  • @rebeccajames1970

Joe and his button factory were a huge hit in NC. The best was at the end when you had to push the button with your tongue while continuing the song. We see you Fortune 👆🏼

I heard a different version of the bird story. He forgets to fly south, and he's frozen in a field and can't fly. Then a cow (horse? dog?) takes a massive dump on him which horrifies him and convinces him this is the end. But he realizes he's now warm and comfortable and can move his wings again. He's so happy he lifts his head up and starts singing, which attracts the attention of a cat who promptly comes over and eats him. The moral of the story is if you find yourself in a shit situation but you're doing OK, keep your head down and your mouth shut...(I'm pretty sure when I heard it it was in the context of a corporate/office situation...)

Love how in the same pod you went from button factory to the depths of what forgiveness is/might be. Good stuff

Mae's face when Fortune is singing about Joe the Button maker is priceless!

  • @anniegargia

Mae and Tigs faces when Fortune started singing were soooooo funny!!!! 😂

  • @LeeleeBoo141

I’m a music teacher and I use the button factory song with young kids. It’s an action song and the words create rhythms that can be easily remembered. It’s a good teaching tool and a fun song!

  • @meganhuntz

Yes, Fortune!! Joe and the button factory - perfect camp song. Please tell Mae and Tig about "Going on a Bear Hunt"

  • @julieberns1474

I grew up with “hello, my name is Joe” THANKS for pulling that out of your hat

  • @thekatiemae85

The Joe song is a song I learned from Sharon, Lois, and Bram on “The Elephant Show” in the 80s! It’s definitely “a wife and a dog and a family.” Thanks for posting a podcast on MY BIRTHDAY and bringing back so many good memories as well as giving me new laughs! ❤❤

I need you to know that the chaos of the "my name is Joe" song was the hardest I've laughed in a Long time!

  • @heatherntucker

YES, I forgot about that song! We sang it at camp and bible school. The adults wanted us to burn off energy. I am neurodivergent, diagnosed ADHD. Suspected autism but I haven't gone through with the tests yet. It is a big difference than "thinking differently". Being NeuroSpicy is amazing. I wasn't dx until 40 and it has changed my world for the better.

  • @andreabellavigna6172

I’m dying because my version of the Joe button factory song in childhood… his name was BOB.😂😂😂

  • @aprilk569

I learned the button factory song at camp when I was a kid 😂 Not speaking to its value... just it's validity lol. You Handsomes have me cracking up while shoveling a foot of snow off my driveway in -9° weather. Thank you for that 🙏

  • @leighv1026

Joe and his button factory was a total banger when I was a kid. We see you, Fortune! You're not alone!
