I picked up a Hexmod for the boy to play with our mini-z's. They aren't that comparable. But it has the rechargeable internal battery. It is significantly louder moving around, I think just slop in the diff. But the front lower bar to the steering pops loose from the wheel with almost any contact. But you get a lot for less, upgrade parts, neat rubber track barriers, lot's of cosmetic items..

Try the WLToys K989 1/28 scale cars and trucks, the hoonigan copy truck comes with a radio that has dual rate throttle trim so beginners can go slower on a small track like this. Personally, I have made a 'drift skidpan' out of 3 office chair carpet protector mats, which is about the length of your track - and I drive the K989 on it during coffee breaks.

Turn on car, hold throttle trigger full turn on transmitter wait for light flash 10-15 seconds, release. Out of trainer mode. You will then need your 30 shore front and 20 shore rear tires. The triple As are awesome when you consider the runtime they give you. Plus the weight is needed. I have 7 mini-Zs and an RCP mini-96 track and an easylap timing system. If you do decide to step up to brushless the EVOs can be fun but beyond 5600kv is kind of pointless unless you have a lot of long straights in your track layout. There are fully custom chassis available but stock classes keep it cheap and fun for everyone!

    • @gauravdey2335

These are completely different tiles. They have 2 different surfaces based on the kind of tire compound you are using in your Mini z and give you a ton more grip than the Harbor Freight ones. I’ve tried going the cheaper route and I only ended up buying these and losing my money that I spent on cheaper tiles.
Harbor Freight tiles are okay if you are trying to make a drift track but not suitable for racing.

Wouldn't expect too much out of them in regards to drifting though, even with the gyro installed they're extremely difficult to drift. They do so much for upgrades too, I've seen people convert them to LiPo also, so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibilities. Kyosho are far better built than the xmods. I have nothing against the xmods, I own a fleet. But there is no comparison. Xmods also cost way way less. The thing that was awesome about xmods is there was a large community that modified them and installed lithium batteries and faster motors. The reality is with an xmods, there is no need for lithium batteries. Standard nimh AAA and the brushless motors can make them a rocket. Far faster then makes sense for an RCP track like the one in this video.

Looks like alotta fun for those rainy days. Thos lil Mini Z cars have been around at least maybe 20 years, maybe that's why they use the AAA battery format, as back then, LiPo tech was still fairly new in the hobby world. An updated car, with a nice LiPo setup would be nice, but I think you can get LiPo AAA cells nowadays maybe?

Definitely something fun for a rainy day. But space 😮. Either gotta have a big spare room or garage. Cost is one or two good outdoor rc's so for indoor fun suppose it's comparable. Maybe 3 rc's if ya go big 😁🙂. ⚓⚓👍💛💚💜👍⚓⚓.

Hey, guys. WLToys also have a similar-sized car - K969 and K989 models. Maybe you should try them on the same tracks!
I myself got the MiniZ AWD that I am trying to learn to drift.....

I would love to see IndyCar or Formula 1 vintage cars, then build one of the many Grand Prix circuit tracks like maybe Willow Spring? I don't know, there's so many.

Wl toys has a bunch of small scale cars that are about the same size as the kyosho for less than $100. I have a couple of them and they are great for indoors. My cats hate them lol. I would love to see them on the track up against the kyosho in a race
