The extended tax deadline for paying your taxes in the US is now May 17th... are you ready? Comment below!

I think this is super important. A lot of people are jumping into e-commerce without fully understanding the laws and liabilities around it. Sure, you can spend 10 minute setting up your shop (as I see so many RUclips videos saying), but no one wants to talk about the nitty gritty of any commerce. It gets a little more confusing when you’re selling online because you’re not limited to the location you’re selling in.
It’s why I don’t sell internationally right now. What a headache that must be with the new laws and tariff stuff.

I have just started selling on Shopify. I told them that, at the moment, I am only interested in doing US sales (where I am) until I figure out how the whole tax and shipping and handling thing works here.

@@gina72916 yeah I haven’t started Shopify yet. I plan to in the future, for now I’m on Etsy which I know fees suck but they handle all of the taxes and shipping for me. Once I grow bigger I plan to use Shopify lite on my website.

I no longer needed my store so I just let my Shopify subscription lapse. Shopify apparently “froze” my account. Now when I go to do my taxes I cannot see any sales information at all. They want me to pay for another month of service before they will give me access to my own sales information. Is that even legal? It feels like they are blackmailing me for critical tax information.. any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

im a little confused granted im only 16 so i can't exactly start this yet but, theoreticlly couldn't i put everything down as a buisness expence so i don't have to pay taxes. for example if i wanted to buy a car with the money i make from my business could i say well its a work vehical its for my business, therefore making it a business expence so i don't have to pay taxes on it. or is that illegal like is said im only 16 so im a little confussed.

@@mrs.quills7061 only to people who buy in your state. Shopify automatically does this, all you will have to do is keep track of what they charge save it and pay it on time. • @mrs.quills7061

Yes, that’s considered your “nexus” from my understanding. Basically, your home is where you do business and thus it’s taxable income.
