This was my first Mario Kart and (Don't throw all my reasons out the window as soon as I say this) this may be the best Mario Kart. The track design is great, the soundtrack is awesome, it has the best Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Roads, it was the first game to include retro tracks, and it was much more advanced compared to Super Circuit which was pre-rendered models made into sprites. A close second-best game, in my opinion, is Double Dash, then 8 is third. (Yeah 8=3, wrap your head around that.)
How did you do this!? I'm struggling so hard to get gold! Do you have any recommendations for who I play as and what kart? I keep trying with Yoshi DK and Toad, they don't work!
Try yoshi with the cucumber, if that doesnt work go dry with the dry bomber, even if your not snaking it's still really good and let's you get so many drifts per turn
Most of the items are sprites but Mario Kart 7 was the first portable one to include exclusively polygon items (Unless you count the Blooper but it's hard to decide if you should count the ink or Blooper itself because the blooper is kind of 3D since the texture for the 3D models hit turn black).

It should had been on Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe) instead of a lazy port of Mario Kart 7's version of SNES Rainbow Road. Score: 10/10 DS Special Cup score: 31/40
You know what pisses me off no waluigi in mariokart 7 but they have a waluigi track on the game that's the only reason I play mariokart ds more than mk7 is for waluigi

Snaking is definitely much better if you do it right. Egg 1 and the Dry Bomber are seen as the best karts for it.
