Join me on this 4.5hr adventure from United's main hub San Francisco SFO to another hub Newark, onboard the carrier's Polaris Business Class offering. The flight is operated by their longhaul 777-300ER, but how does their transcontinental experience compare against Air Canada's offering? Watch my review to view my full experience!

UA used to serve Ribeyes steak and prawns for business class, those were the days. As of today date, you pay more , the food provided just like the old days economy class
back in those days you also had to buy your way into first class or business class. no complimentary upgrades.
I've been lucky to have flown United's Polaris Business twice LAX - Narita , two of my best travel experiences. United really impressed me as I've flown many Top rated Asian carrier's as well. Definitely worth looking into on a long trip.
Glad to see the Duvet is back!
#Polaris for the win!! Such a great product. Now for better food…. Love #UnitedAirlines!!
Nice video, and makes United look pretty good. Rare these days! Good job.
I was thoroughly impressed! Such a lovely crew 🫶🏻
No lemon in the G&T? Always ask for ice and a slice old boy. Great video, thanks for sharing your experience.
great video!
Glad that you had a nice flight, especially on United. 🤣 They should at the least, show the menu on the IFE screen. I was not impressed with the meal service, very similar to an international Economy Class meal. The "breakfast" was blah. I would at least add a mixed fruit plate. This is after all a transcontinental flight. I will stick with JetBlue Mint service for transcon flights between Newark/NYC and the West Coast. Have you tried them yet? At least you enjoyed an excellent cabin crew. Maybe, just maybe United is finally getting rid of their grumpy flight attendants and bringing in new crews with great attitudes. Kudos to them. Hope that this will be a new trend. Take care and have a pleasant and rewarding weekend.
Haha yes! I’m hoping to try out JetBlue next time as well :) And bonus points to United for getting rid of grumpy FA’s 😉 cheers!
Nice review as always. I'm potentially going to book Polaris for return flight from Europe next year (currently have TP A321XLR booked but at a measly 56k for J), if anything for the Away amenity kit 😆. Apparently some people go through some lengths to steal the gel pillows lol.
Haha I will definitely choose airlines to grow my amenity kit collection 🤪 omg people try to steal the gel pillows?? That’s so wild 😝
Just returned from a NJ/London trip. The lounge in Newark was fantastic. The one in Heathrow was awful. There were fruit flies all over the food, the food options were very limited, and only soda available but no bottled water. Also Heathrow bathrooms were not well maintained. The Premier check in/security enhancements were a definite time saver and the seats were wonderful as far as comfort. Food was generous but just alright. Flight crew service was good. Worth the $8K price tag, not sure unless company is paying.
$8K for NY-London seems quite steep... But yeah! The lounge at Newark is such a nice lounge! For LHR, did I think Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge is a good option. Is that the one you went to?
@@TraverseFlightReview cost seemed like a lot to me too. In LHR, it was the United lounge. Disappointing.
@@JamesBond-qv2ht oh i c! Give the Maple Leaf Lounge a try next time at LHR/FRA! Heard they're one of the best 👍
I think AC signature transcon offers much better meal options.
Real paper menues, 4 entrees, separate appetizer, principle, cheese, and dessert/coffee/port wine and cognac service at the end on every YVR-YYZ routes. Plus very good bedding, mattress pads.
Wow i didn’t know about the cognac! Will have to give it a try for my flight today. Thanks!
How much did you pay for this flight? just wondering for a similar transcon Polaris trip from LAX to EWR
I actually bought it as originating from Canada for much cheaper. It was just over 2300CAD for my flight entire itinerary YYZ-SFO-KOA-SFO-EWR-YYZ. It’s so unfortunate that United charges nearly double for EWR-SFO legs alone.
@@TraverseFlightReview all of this in J? Or did you eUp some segments? That’s a great deal for $2300 CAD.
The food AT BEST was int'l economy level.
And to think this is better than Air Canada... they might as well serve crackers! Jk XD
The amenity kit is a bit basic considering it’s business class, no? I’ve seen nicer kits in premium economy
The amenity kit looks cheap. What happened to their hard case amenity kit?
So on longhaul flights they still provide those hard cases, but on transcons they provide these plastic ones that otherwise would be provided to longhaul premium economy passengers.
The children meal didn't look good at all
Cannot believe how different it is - in a bad way - to the mid/far east airlines offering. If you ever get to experience Qatar airways Q suite then you will see how bad that Polaris was !!
food looked lousy
Drinks were alright
