- Oops, this video is two months late. So Final Fantasy XIV savage raids are some of the most difficult fights in the game... But can the denizens of Abyssos overcome the might of an angry lalafell?

Once I understand a mechanic the rest of the party gets about three attempts before I'm yelling at my monitor about how easy it is.
This is a problem, I know it, I'm working on it.

"none of them can count, none of them can read, and none of them know left from right" that just sounds like me and my static. Just missing the "colourblind" bit. Mega props for PFing it, it was hard enough clearing the tier with a static and quality callouts.

The fact Cider cleared the first three on week 1 amazes me.
Been doing prog this tier via Late Night PF and um.. yeah. I am still on Harvest Prog on P7S. Have now been on the Yokai Tree longer than on the Cursed Carbuncle. If I actually clear this tier before the next tier drops I will be amazed. Hope springs eternal, eh?
Man, I cleared P5S and P6S week one pretty easily. I think P5S was with my static, but 6 was pf. Decided last two days to try for 7s. Got the fight down pretty early on and then spent more time in clear parties then I did progging the fucking fight. Week 1 PF was trap party after trap party after trap party. Decide to go for one last try just before lockout. We form and get in instance in time aaaaaaand.....consistently fail to even hit harvests. I was so mad, I had that fight down so well for so many hours and couldn't get my week one clear of it because for some reason pf cannot do even the easy parts of that fight.
well, we are on w15 now, so next week everybody got two sets of bis and gear will start to trickle to everyone who goes into savage at all. And the fights are so much easier even on 620 than on full crafted (p7s w1 was pretty well doable if you don't wipe on harvests, now you'll usually skip 1-2 harvests; p8sp1 w1 was cursed, but this got nerfed and now you'll skip the last two mechs, and p2 basically doesnt exist like cider said - that is once they figure out their timings for the na's :D)

I think you VASTLY overestimate how many people clear week one. Most likely a lot more people are still progging then people who will have cleared week one.
That said, fights are much easier now even for groups still progging as casual groups have been gearing up this whole time from earlier fights.
clearing 7s on week 1 was a gamble but generally the quicker you are the better
Being a healer means you get much more of a choice of parties no matter what week it is; so you can pretty safely bail from any party you don't like and be able to find another: of course, the quality of any group is always suspect, but the fact of being able to find more means you can eventually hit the jackpot of a competent group. Of course all this breaks down in P8S because even with 628 item level everything can one shot you without enough healing and mitigation and of course basically every other mechanic requires everyone to be alive and be consistent which is too much of an ask for even static parties.
"Surely P8S will only take one or two more weeks, right?" -- big mood. My first static cleared 5 and 6 week 1, then 7 week 2. The static fell apart after like 5 weeks of P8S prog, and I regret to inform you, I'm still stuck in P8S hell all this time later.
Edit: I am happy to inform you all I have cleared, and have thusly been freed from the hell of prog and may begin to enjoy the game again
My static had a huge blowout after devour.
New team is much better than before though, so Im happy.

my static couldn't even remember the name of it so my raid leader was just referring to it as "the diamond weapon thing" luckily we knew what he was talking about lol.
Ya know what's really funny about it? The original move was actually called Fundamental Synergy! I have no idea why it got called Limit Cut, aside from that being a different move the same boss did.

Clearing raid tier in FFXIV in party finder was a magical experience for me, to be honest. Really showed how different the community is, but that was also like, day 1 raiding, when no one knew the mechanics anyway. Finding that group of random strangers that are all dedicated enough to stick to the end and learn together was really something.
HAHAHAHA this described my experience so well it hurt. That happens even in a static, only benefit is you all eventually learn together and don't need to deal with PF insanity XD

ok but id unironically watch a full set of guides like this, the funny helps me remember the mechanics
I PFd every fight this tier and boy did it take a long time. P5 I was able to do the first week, 6 the second week, and 7 the 4th week. I only managed to clear 8 last week. I waited until November to start attempting to learn 8. Learning and clearing 8 in PF was tough but I got it done.
This and the P8S video are pure works of art. You, my friend, just earned a sub.
There’s an absolutely delicious irony that you got your P8S P1 clear the same day this released.
Imagine this group trying to clear Savage Criterion Dungeons:
- Cider Spider, the Angry
- Pint, the Ascian Black Mage
- Denmomchugestrong, the moustache
- Zepla, the raid mom getting Mcdonalds
While Floor Inspector the Cera watches on nodding sagely at each wipe.
Add Josh "mostly I'll press 1, 2 and 4, but sometimes I'll throw in a 3" Strife.

honestly though, zepla can be pretty good. i'm not sure how pint or denmom. . . you don't clear that last ultimate which is easily the most difficult of them all so far, without some degree of skill.

Only now rewatching this video I noticed you creating the PF as a Lancer, every second of this video is pure gold.
Every time I see someone on the FFXIV forums complaining that they feel unfulfilled and unchallenged because Savage raiding is too easy, I can't help but think that they need to try out the PF experience. Kudos to you for demonstrating it!
Those are stereotypical neets living from their parents pockets so they can dedicate their life to the game. After no lifing for 8k hours they finally get good at game and call it too easy. I would teach monkey how to play on their level in half of their playtime.
That doesn't actually make the fight any harder for you though. The only hard part is waiting for everyone else to learn the mechs.

We did P5S - and ohh boy i loved the healer-job so much.
We got almost to the end -
Sadly half of the fc didnt like the pressure in Savage and we quit.
If it doesnt make fun for all, it leads to bad vibes.
After long thinking - i will probably seek in january for a static that needs a Healer XD
Yeah, this convinced me im never doing any Savages ever. Even with the explanations, the video and not having the stress of actually doing the stuff, i still have no idea wtf is going on.

Don't knock it 'till you try it.
It's a memorization game at its core and how well you can press buttons. There's not a lot of variation or randomization in them, mostly just one or two variations and I'll just say; it's really not that hard at all.
That's why you raid on EU so you get macros telling you how everything works in a text box that's bigger than a PF info box.
You might one day if the rewards interest you enough.

honestly i enjoy the chaos of PF. as long as you clear within the first few weeks, you can typically have a pretty good experience. clearing late into the tier can be quite challenging since most of the people who haven't cleared by that point are there cos they suck
i just have too random of a schedule to commit to playing in a static
I did this tier on release in party finder. It wasn't that bad until p8s. I was ready to clear p8s second phase by week 2 or 3, but finding a group in party finder even capable of getting to phase 2 was nearly impossible... and when we did actually clear phase one, we would immediately disband over natural alignment. It was so rare to even get practice past the first mechanic. I didn't clear until week 4.
It got to the point I had to check people's logs when joined. People would join phase 2 clear parties and not even have a phase one clear.
I took a break this tier for month clear p5 on week 2, cause static was slow then i left static cause of work, stop playing came back cleared p6 and p7 in a 24 hour window of prog to clear. was nice then break again manage to prog p1 in a week, then too a break XD and finish p2 in about 6 hours of prog, I been pretty lucky with my pf groups.
No wonder boosters have such a great business, lol
The true challenge is P2 NA prog ngl, snakes is just the beginning of the end.

Lmfao. With your week 1 PF clears I felt a little sad that my static spent till 3rd week on Tree ( and I had to switch to SMN to paint by colors cause RDM doesn't do enough damage Q_Q).
Now we're on High Concept in the fabled part 2. However, my raid static has mostly all lost motivation. It's holiday season. That means reps! That means reps from other statics. Reps from PF occasionally. Reps Reps Reps! And sadly, sometimes, the Reps already cleared or are farther than we've been! So we get to look like extra special dunderheads in front of strangers!

My PF experience was: Week 1: 3 days to get P5S down, Saturday for P6S, and Sunday for P7S. Each one got progressively easier, I think as the heard thinned out.
Week 2: Rest.
Week 3: P8S P1 prog.
Week 4: P8S P1 clear and should have got P2 but couldn’t find an A2C group that could clear, or even get to P2. 200+ pulls total.
Week 5: P8S P2 clear on reset with a reclear group that couldn’t find a tank that already had the clear.
I was lucky enough to get smooth clears for both P8S P2 and P4S P2 by asking to joining a reclear group after so many failing A2C groups the week before. At that stage I knew them backwards, just needed a consistent group.
Of course, I am on Materia, where we use macros like civilized people. 😛
NA is just too smoothbrained for macros
And materia carried over that macro culture from JP thankfully \o/
In EU, everyone has this one raidplan link going around for P2, there's too much for a macro in it. I've only seen a macro used like once for P8S-2 and I honestly didnt know what I was looking at nor did the rest of the party as someone was like nah, lets not and linked the raidplan. lol
@@DEMONArekkusu Our original P2 macro was 5 macros! 😅 6 if you count the Dominion mitigations. They weren’t all the full 15 lines, but still pretty long. There was one for each HC, but they tend to get left out now.
The Materia raiding discord is now down to 3 macros + 1 for mits.

P3S was like that in Aspho for me. Party be like "FoA prog to clear" and we'd wipe to that one mechanic like two minutes in where you gotta drop ads and then stack up in pairs based on numbers. I've barely touched this tier but I'm glad to see the old tradition that PF cant fucking count is still holding strong.

pf works fine if you know how to find the right party . most just yolo it and expect good results. must set clear expectations and hold people accountable when needed, more importantly be ready to perform. ive cleared several tiers of savage in pf ahead of static groups of friends.
Also need to be willing to do what needs to be done and either disband the group or boot people who are holding the group back. This tier however it's easier said than done because people don't want to spend an hour filling for p8s only to disband after 3 pulls, and trying to rep a weak link usually means you'll lose half the party in the process.
This is only my third tier raiding and I also cleared them mainly in PF, but I've had friends who are like you that have used PF since HW or even ARR, and they've even said they've never seen the PF situation as bad as it's been in Abyssos.
THIS WHOLE TIER IS A TOILET FULL OF SNAKES!! Oh and a tree apparently.
Having completed this tier, this brings so many "good" memories
This was my first tier, reached to 8 with friends, then we started having issues with getting all of us together (some of them with university, others work), reached the end of phase 1, then spent a week trying to clear it to begin phase 2, only finally breaking through when over half the party was my static
Proto Carbuncle is the very defination of your party getting shitted on
One thing I love and hate of FF14 is that is requires coordination of a group of strangers. When it works in beautiful. When it doesn't work is hell.
P8S being snakes is 100% true. My static is on the fifth week of reclears, and the snakes still prove to be a challenge sometimes.
Legitimately understood some mechanics better after looking at this. Please do another for Barb EX.

Harvest is because it's the same setup as the Forbidden Fruit mechanics (harvesting fruit), and they're named after three out of the four horsemen of the apocalypse (conquest, famine, death, war).

My static still has not cleared Swol we had a brand new raider and getting him up to snuff was rough so we started very late. But we are finally on target to clear Swol this weekend and from what we have seen we can clear the next one quickly.

Very accurate lol. I've been enjoying progging on pf though it does have its difficulties. Was pretty relaxed, cleared p5 week one and p6 week 2. I was planning ahead like, hmm at this rate I can clear p7 in a week and p8 in about two weeks! Then p7 took me two weeks and I got kind of burnt out lol. I just started p8 a few weeks ago and it's all been... snakes.
