I found a Book of Mormon on the ground one day. I tried to read it, but could not understand it. 2 days later, the Missionaries came knocking. I said that I would be interested in learning about their faith. I was baptised 3 months later. Heavenly Father was leading me to the Church. It is true, as is Joseph Smith. I know that Thomas S Monson is a Prophet of God, and the Church is True. In Jesus name, I say amen.

Brother i had a similar experience...i was living in a farmhouse in South east TN and there was a big garage with a shop in it and the landlord told me i could have anything in the garage i wanted exept his horse saddles so i was in there early one morning rummaging around and the sunlight bore thru a crack in the roof and shined down on this table in there underneath the table was an old military chest i opened it up and laying right on top of a bunch of papers and things was an old book of Mormon with a couple of the pages not able to read I didn't know very much about that faith i had only heard a bit about it by other people before so i opened it and fanned thru the pages and stopped at Moroni the name just grabbed my attention and my eyes went straight to Moroni 10 and i read that and i said aloud thank you God...it really spoke to me and i thought there was only the Bible but those verses really gave me such a wonderful feeling and said to me that our heavenly father still speaks to us..ive always believed in Jesus but i found this at a rough time in my life when i thought he wasn't interested in talking to me...i kept the book and a couple years later i received a new book of Mormon from two wonderful missionaries...im halfway thru the book and i love it!.. its all about JESUS!

I was raised a Catholic, in the past 2 months I have doubted the very existence of God and turned to atheism, but deep down there was a part of me that couldn't let go of the thought that there very well might be more to this existence than meets the eye. Just recently I had some Mormons knocking on my door, and I asked them for a book of Mormon. I told them the next time I met them that I was an atheist but I would check out the book anyways. I am only on 2 Nephi and I must say, Joseph Smith was either a really great story teller and con artist extraordinaire or he was actually genuine in his revelations because when I read the book it feels like I am reading something that should have been included in the bible. I have read from sources that he plagerized from other sources, but a whole book? And then to go and die for it? Doesn't make sense to me. So I am left with one option, it must be a genuine revelation. This is a great video considering I am not even Mormon, there is just something about the video that makes me want to believe. Thanks for uploading and my apologies for rambling.

What I can say to you is, if you reach the end of the book, follow what is promised and pray. When doing so, remember what it says in Proverbs 3:5-6. More than just the words of others and of yourself, trust in the feelings you get from the Holy Ghost. Those feelings will tell you the truth of those words and the answers which you seek. This applies to everything you encounter in your life. Trust in Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost who bears witness of them. In all times, pray and trust in them, and they will never fail you.

I was on the fast road to atheism ( but in the back of my mind I knew Christ was real) I guess I was just angry and disappointed in my life choices, I see that now. Anyway, long story short I read the Book of Mormon and found it to answer all the questions I had and the spirit bore testimony of the truthfulness of this book and the Prophet that translated it. The lord uses imperfect people to do his work but besides their imperfectness they do a perfect work. I love the LDS church and my family has been deeply blessed for what it has to offer.

I love the Book of Mormon and know it is true but believe that reading of the life of Jesus Christ in the the New Testament is the same, it is not less than any book. The quote you referenced says, "Concerning this record the Prophet Joseph Smith said: “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”
The precepts in both books are the same.

It's rather sad how people choose not to accept such a simple concept - that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that the Book of Mormon is true - and rather turn to what the world/Internet has to say about it. Our message is not complicated, never has been, never will be, but it is true nonetheless, and no unhallowed hand can stop this work from progressing.

    • @johnharvey4448

AeroRanger100 I’m not sure it’s sad how people choose not to accept such a simple concept - that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God that the Book of Mormon is true - and rather turn to what the world has to say about it. As, I’m not sure it’s a concept. I’m not sure it’s a simple concept. I reason that for those who believe in God and that God can answer prayer that it’s a simple concept as they can just read Joseph Smiths testimony or the Book of Mormon and ask God if they’re true. I agree that it’s rather sad that there are those that would RATHER turn to what the world/internet has to say about it. As, I reason : if you want the truth you ought to go to the fountain not further down stream where the waters are muddied. And, that there is truth in the saying that if you want to know something ‘go to the horses mouth’.
Note : I don’t doubt it’s true that no unhallowed hand can stop the work progressing. And, that It’s God’s work and He will keep it progressing.

What are you talking about? This stuff is very complex. Your talking about a theology based on a man who “translated” a book the same way he dug for treasure which no one talks about. You want me to believe in a book that is based on some plates that no one saw with their physical eyes. A book that is based on the true gospel passing away and needing to be restored. Jesus said His word would never pass away. Mormonism is a false gospel that is works based to the core and you can prove it. It is truly an impossible gospel.

Moroni 10:4-5 - "And when ye shall receive these things I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things."
Read the Book of Mormon and take Moroni's advice. I have done so, and the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon has been made known unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost. The Book of Mormon has largely impacted me, and I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be a member of this wonderful church. Two young men gave me the Book of Mormon and asked me to read a few sentences. I told them I would be reading after they left. That night I sat up all night reading from it's pages. I felt the same spirit I felt when I read from the Holy Bible. When I finished, just before dawn, I locked myself in the bathroom, dropped to my knees and asked God if this book was in fact from Him. I knew at that time it was from Him, and when I heard the story of Joseph Smith Junior, I knew in my heart he was a true prophet for God. There is no way I will ever deny these facts.

It did not come overnight; but today, because of this book, a light is laced so deep within my soul that I cannot, nor would I dare, ever deny it. I'm a college professor and consider myself a convert, so my testimony did not come without much study, anguish, and prayer. I got an education and despite my origins and challenges of life. I learned about God. The world has been teaching hate, racism and others. What I learned almost 30 years ago has sutained my life and released me from so much pain. I now see and know for sure. I do not believe, I know. The book of mormon is true. Joseph Smith was a prophet. it is true. What I learned hasn't change a bit from the very first time I heard it. The world? you can look with your eyes, if you can see.

If you ever get the chance to visit palmyra , NY, please visit Grandin PRINT shop. Take the free tour. To know what it took to print the first 5000 books is over whelming. The tiny print keys placed by hand to make words, that were later made into pages of text. Or the 8months or so it took to hand print and 17months to bind. Knowing this there is no reason why this would be fake. Joseph Smith was a teen when this all started,14 to be exact, the hell he went through to protect the plates should say enough. I was raised a Baptist, with a loving and supportive family, my dad was a youth pastor and a deacon, and I have always had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. However, four years ago I began to read the Book of Mormon, and from the moment I read only a few pages I knew that it was true.
I would read it in secret, meet up with missionaries in secret because I was afraid how my parents would react. I didn’t want the parents who have been so good to me all my life to be disappointed in me.
Well Junior year of high school came along, and I stopped reading the Scriptures, and started partying with “friends”. I replaced Prayer with Weed, Fellowship with doing MDMA with other kids, and God with Acid. I went a year spiraling out of control, I was living too fast and I didn’t care.
It was senior year. One morning at 5 AM, I came home tripping out of my right mind from a party I just left from. I knocked on the door and my dad answered and he was confused, as he had no clue I snuck out let alone did any sort of drug.
I got in a crazy argument with my dad and he knew from my pupils I was on drugs. I went to my bed and talked to myself thinking other kids were with me still. . . By the time I sobered up, I felt such a wave of sorrow and disappointment. I couldn’t even pray anymore. What fool had I let myself become?
After weeks of guilt, I gave up my sons to Heavenly Father, I said I just can’t take this anymore. And he told me, “Go now and sin no more.” And I felt joy again. At that moment, sister missionaries reached out to me and invited me to visit with them. So I did so, and little by little I felt God changing me into a man, the man that he has desired for me. After 2 months of lessons I committed to baptism and joining the Church. It was THE GREATEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE.
The hardest part was the opposition that came my way. My long term girlfriend broke up with me, my family felt distant from me, and people just didn’t understand. But I have been blessed with such a joy and a peace unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can change lives, it certainly changed mine. I testify these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

The Book of Mormon is an additional testimony of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone, the foundation, the living soul of our religion. By him and him alone, we are saved. The Book of Mormon, the Bible, and all other true scripture teaches nothing save it be of Christ, either pointing to the Christ who is to come (before he was born), or the Christ that did come (after he was born). No prophet has teached or prophesied save it was of Christ.

The founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon (henceforth abbreviated as BoM) is an ancient native-American record written on golden plates. Smith claimed that he was guided to these tablets buried on a hill and that God assisted him in translating them from Reformed Egyptian into English. However, the historical and textual accuracy of Smith’s work have become increasingly doubtful. This is the case despite Smith’s declaring the BoM to be “the most correct of any book on earth and the keystone of our religion”. Today, historians and scholars reject Smith’s account for the three reasons we will briefly note below.
The Problem of Text and Language
Smith claimed he translated the golden tablets he found into English from a language known as Reformed Egyptian. On the contrary, historians argue that there is no evidence of a language known as Reformed Egyptian and that literary devices (language, phrases, and names) in the BoM provide strong evidence that its text is inauthentic. Further, according to the Mormon Church, the BoM claims that some ancestors of Native Americans came from the ancient Near East and specifically from the Jerusalem area. However, linguistic scholars have discovered no Native American language, whether spoken by the Maya or Aztecs, to be relatable to languages from the ancient Near East.
Textual critics do not view the BoM as a particularly impressive or unique work of writing. Professor Grant Hardy, a specialist in history, language, and literature, says that “If the primary purpose of the Book of Mormon were to function as a sign-as tangible evidence that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God-that mission could have been accomplished much more concisely”. Further, the fact that the book has received significant revisions, especially in its grammar, is a challenge to its divine origin and its revered status as being “the most correct of any book on earth”.
    The Problem of Archaeological Corroboration.
The BoM proposes that real people existed in specific times and places in history. It attempts to show itself to be a historical record of God’s revelation to humankind. The book claims to be an “account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from whence they sprang” . By making this claim, the BoM opens itself to being tested. One of its claims is that the world the book’s occupants lived in was an hourglass-shaped landmass. This land consisted of a ”land southward” surrounded by water except for a “narrow neck” of land connecting it to a “land northward” (Alma 22:32), a necessary detail to know if a researcher intends to engage in archaeological work. Despite some theories concerning the true location of this area, much remains uncertain.
The traditional view is that this land includes nearly all of North and South America. According to Smith, a party led by the prophet Lehi from Jerusalem arrived in the New World on the coast of Chile. There was also a battle between the Nephites and Lamanites that purportedly took place in Palmyra, New York some 6000 miles away from Lehi’s location of arrival.. The Nephites and the Lamanites are supposdely descended from a group of Israelites who, under Lehi’s guide, migrated to the Americas around 600 BCE. The Lamanites are also believed by Mormons to be the ancestors of the indigenous peoples found in North, South, and Central America. The traditional view is that the landmass included nearly all of North and South America. These lands constitute the two bulges of the hourglass that are connected by the “narrow neck.” The narrow neck being Central America. However, two difficulties confront this traditional view.
One difficulty is that according to the BoM, the Nephite and Lamanite civilizations were located somewhere in Central America (the ”narrow neck” of land) and that they did battle at Hill Cumorah (Mormon 6:1-6). Hill Cumorah is thought to be located in New York state, well over a several thousand of miles away from the respective Nephite and Lamanite bases. It seems unrealistic that these armies traveled such an extraordinary distance to engage in battle.
The BoM also proposes that native populations of North and South America are the descendants of small immigrant populations including the Jaredites (arriving at some point between 3000 and 2000 BCE, and who later became extinct themselves), Nephites, and Mulekites. However, this is rejected by historians. For example, archaeological research provides evidence that the lands were populated well before the BoM says these peoples arrived. Archaeology has provided evidence of stone tools showing natives existed in the Americas as far back as 13500 years ago. Further, around 10 000 BCE east Asians migrated across the Bering Strait. These migrants are the actual ancestors of the American Indians . The DNA evidence supporting this ancestry is strong. Native Americans possess DNA markers similar to the DNA of ancient people from the Altar Mountains in central Asia.
No evidence, archaeological or genetic, exists in support of the claims made by the BoM. This had led historians not to view its contents as a work of ancient American history. Scholar Michael Coe says that, “as far as I know there is not one professionally trained archaeologist, who is not a Mormon, who sees any scientific justification for believing the foregoing to be true, and I would like to state that there are quite a few Mormon archaeologists who join this group” .
    The Problem of Anachronisms
The BoM places a number of historical artifacts and cultures in the wrong era. This includes portraying a Nephite civilization with a metal industry (metal swords, breastplates, and coinage) in Mesoamerica despite the fact that the area is known not to have possessed such industry at the time . The BoM presents the Nephites as a people who produced wheat, barley, flax (linen), grapes, and olives, none of which existed in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica (pre-Columbian referring to the Americas before Christoper Columbus’s 1492 voyages to the area). The Nephites also supposedly owned Old World domesticated animals (Old World referring to parts of the world including Africa, Asia, and Europe) such as asses, cows, goats, sheep, horses, oxen, swine, and elephants that did not exist in America at the time.

I hope it touches all who see it...it seems impossible to me to be able to watch this and not feel anything or deny its message.

I'm so grateful for Elder Holland and the strong testimony which he so beautiful shares! I also have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know it is true. It contains true principles that will lead us to happiness and peace and understanding in this life.

Not often does an Apostle bear such a strong, emotional testimony. The spirit is strong with Elder Holland. I am so appreciative of the leaders of our church that give so much of their time and are so faithful. We love them = )
