Somarik Green Eisenhower later regretted his decision so there is that. The threat from the soviets was all bluster anyway. The US expected the UK to involve itself in every Cold War intervention that the Americans wanted, yet completely sold out their closest Ally at the cusp of victory. Complete shambles.
Raise the hat and honor to the brave Egyptians. They fought face to face with sophisticated military weapons. Despite their limited capabilities and the lack of weapons. This war is an example of the miscreants meeting in this world

Im from Czech republic and we were never teached in school that we supported Egypt in this war... Im pissed now that our school system doesnt inform us that we were involved in this...
I've always believed that Egypt should have sided with the USA after 1952....none of this would have happened. We had a narcissist son of a ***** ruling the country with a bunch of wannabe- uneducated officers and they introduced the concept of nepotism in Egypt. This concept ultimately ruined the country and its army. Brigadier generals were assigned according to their loyalty and not according to their qualifications. Shortly after that, all of Egypt was being assigned jobs accordingly and the country fell into dismay and chaos. A very sad but true documentary.
This is the sad truth about Egypt. The country had so much promise after WW2. In the 1950s Egypt had the same level of economic development as South Korea. But political mismanagement squandered Egypt's potential.
If the Muslim Brotherhood was in power in the 50s before their corruption in the 70s, Egypt would be a great place to live. It would be like a less sanctioned Iran; it would be like a religious Europe.

4:39 "where his intelligence told him allied offensive would arrive" now, i'm not saying Egyptian itelligence (or Nasser's) was particularly dumb, but one needn't be a genius to guess that the allies were going to secure the Suez Canal... after Nasser had nationalised the Suez Canal!
There was a funny fact about this crisis… The British and French first wanted the Israeli forces to invade Sinai and then drop in as peacekeepers and form a DMZ at the Suez Canal (held by them of course). The terms called for both sides to pull back 10km away from the canal, which kinda sucked when they announced this while Israeli forces were still 40+km away from the canal.
Despite the arms deal with Czechoslovakia, the majority of Egyptian forces were armed with American, British and French armaments.. This created the possibility of frequent accidental attacks upon friendly units for the Israeli forces, as both armies used Sherman and AMX-13 tanks.
While the military action visuals are cool, it feels like it was almost irrelevant to the crisis. The end was basically "oh but whoops the crisis was actually resolved in the UN" and wasn't really covered much. Would love to see a follow up video on the actual diplomatic stakes.
The aircraft taking off from the carrier close scene is the best you guys animated so far. Although i enjoy your videos immensely, i still find the same criticism points redundant. If you guys can just put numbers of infantry, tanks, artillery under the division, and how they changed after each battle, perhaps you'd earn that extra star to take your videos from 4 to 5 stars. Anyway, this channel remains one of my favorites..
Funny thing is. Egypt during that war blocked the canal with ships from both ends. Something the video missed and it was a key factor in keeping the British israel and the French at bay.
RIP To the 172 Israeli troops, 22 British troops, 10 French troops, 1,650-3,000 Egyptian troops, and 1,000 Egyptian civilians who were killed in the Suez Crisis
To be fair with them nobody would've won in Vietnam ( not even the most powerful nation on earth ) , with Algeria technically they won the war but the public opinion was appalled by the methods and the violence so they choose to give it independence.

20quid Dude, Brexit has very little to do with Britain wanting to rule the world. There are various factors, but overall, the people who voted to leave, wanted UK independence from EU. People in Brussels making laws for Britain didn’t sit right with many people, the handling of the refugee crisis didn’t help that either. Many people also just wanted to send a message to parliament and the government, since they felt that those higher ups stopped paying attention to their demands anymore. And the Brexit issue has highlighter the many problems in the inner workings of UK parliament, which citizens wanted to change.
@Marcelo Henrique Soares da Silva It's not about the size of the military or its quality, but rather about how you can leverage it for your political benefits. There was a time the US wouldn't face any serious opposition in most areas by any other power, either by itself or by proxy.- when after the fall of the USSR , both Russia and China could not project their power either economically, politically or militarily outside a limited region. Things have considerably changed since, and considering Russia seems to be on route to getting two of its chief goals completed - dismantling the EU and NATO - they probably won't become better. And it matters less that you can win a battle, and more that there's the possibility of actually going into it, with its associated risks.

@mina samir Only Arabs can sing victoriously after a humiliating military defeat ! 🤣🤣🤣 Pretending and repeating that Egypt won that war against France, GB and Israel (disregarding all historical facts!) does not make it true! 😉 Algerians also pretend they won a war against the French army... 😝 but, as facts matter, can’t name one place where they defeated the French troops. In fact, the only guerrilla warfare that was ever won with 99% of the local guerilleros (fellaghas of the FLN) « neutralized » by the end of 1961. Get real dude.

donald seigel I think you’re ignoring the fact that the canal is squarely in Egyptian territory to begin with, and the canal was built off the backs of Egyptian laborers. GB used Pasha’s inability to pay the loans to seize and colonize the country (illegal) and continued to interfere in Egyptian politics even after granting nominal independence in 1922. seizing the canal might’ve been illegal as a technicality, but nasser was fighting back against British interference in Egypt going back to the 1880s

What I really enjoy is how the narrator doesnt even try to properly pronounce foreign names and just uses his (presumably) US pronunciation! GJ man! GJ! Without the names as text I would not know half the time what he is talking about.

Eisenhower sold Eden down the river while Macmillan stabbed him in the back.
This war is an example of the miscreants meeting in this world
Never heard "leather bifold" said with so much disdain xD

This is one of the best clips I've ever seen from K&G, you're awesome!
Naser in Egypt and Assad in Syria were behind so many tragedies in the region.
Egypt SHOULD have sided with the USSR
@Azzam 111 yeah...
If the Muslim Brotherhood was in power in the 50s before their corruption in the 70s, Egypt would be a great place to live. It would be like a less sanctioned Iran; it would be like a religious Europe.
Once again continuing the series about the wars of my country, Egypt! Thank you very much Kings and generals!

The most interesting thing about this operation is that the most interesting things about this operation happened after it, and especially before it, not during it.
I read a biography about Moshe Dayan, and the discussions and negotiations between Israel, UKread past and France are simply fascinating.
Epic History TV did a great job coverin overhaul history and why Seuz Crisis take place, and as usual Kings and Generals did a fantastic job which I will always enjoy
4:39 "where his intelligence told him allied offensive would arrive"
now, i'm not saying Egyptian itelligence (or Nasser's) was particularly dumb, but one needn't be a genius to guess that the allies were going to secure the Suez Canal... after Nasser had nationalised the Suez Canal!
They were dumb, their leadership was basically like France before the revolution, nepotism and corruption
@ⲫⲁⲛⲧⲁⲥⲓⲁ USA and Soviets kicked Britain out. Egypt was incompetent as fuck
but who was holding it was port said who was making heavy loss to the enemy until Soviet union pressure and usa
Great! Your 3D animation getting better and better.
There was a funny fact about this crisis…
The British and French first wanted the Israeli forces to invade Sinai and then drop in as peacekeepers and form a DMZ at the Suez Canal (held by them of course).
The terms called for both sides to pull back 10km away from the canal, which kinda sucked when they announced this while Israeli forces were still 40+km away from the canal.
Aren't you speaking of the 67 war? This video covers events before that.
Despite the arms deal with Czechoslovakia, the majority of Egyptian forces were armed with American, British and French armaments.. This created the possibility of frequent accidental attacks upon friendly units for the Israeli forces, as both armies used Sherman and AMX-13 tanks.
And thus the sun finally set upon the empires of old...
Quite ironic that "The sun never sets on the British Empire" for it had territory almost on any timezone even controlled the oceans.
I would argue it set upon them in 1918 but for Britain as a superpower it certainly was the end.
Britain still has most overseas territories. More than USA
Who is here since the evergreen ship that got stuck...
Almost 1 million, since the beginning, tks for everything
While the military action visuals are cool, it feels like it was almost irrelevant to the crisis. The end was basically "oh but whoops the crisis was actually resolved in the UN" and wasn't really covered much. Would love to see a follow up video on the actual diplomatic stakes.
British getting away with war crimes nothings new
its true
The aircraft taking off from the carrier close scene is the best you guys animated so far. Although i enjoy your videos immensely, i still find the same criticism points redundant. If you guys can just put numbers of infantry, tanks, artillery under the division, and how they changed after each battle, perhaps you'd earn that extra star to take your videos from 4 to 5 stars. Anyway, this channel remains one of my favorites..
I would complain that the ending was rushed i just realized it was called kings and generals not politicians and politics
I dropped my jaw when I saw those jets taking off from the carrier ships🔥

Anyone here after a container ship blocked the canal?
yup
Funny thing is. Egypt during that war blocked the canal with ships from both ends. Something the video missed and it was a key factor in keeping the British israel and the French at bay.
Another excellent video from my favourite history channel
RIP
To the 172 Israeli troops, 22 British troops, 10 French troops, 1,650-3,000 Egyptian troops, and 1,000 Egyptian civilians who were killed in the Suez Crisis

Another sign that the French Empire was declining was their war in Vietnam that they lost, and the war in Algeria
To be fair with them nobody would've won in Vietnam ( not even the most powerful nation on earth ) , with Algeria technically they won the war but the public opinion was appalled by the methods and the violence so they choose to give it independence.

When Britain and France realized they no longer ruled the world.
I don't this Britain has realized yet. Proof: Brexit.

It's a proud memory that my grandfather shared in defeating 3 countries altogether.
@mina samir
Only Arabs can sing victoriously after a humiliating military defeat ! 🤣🤣🤣
Pretending and repeating that Egypt won that war against France, GB and Israel (disregarding all historical facts!) does not make it true! 😉
Algerians also pretend they won a war against the French army... 😝 but, as facts matter, can’t name one place where they defeated the French troops. In fact, the only guerrilla warfare that was ever won with 99% of the local guerilleros (fellaghas of the FLN) « neutralized » by the end of 1961.
Get real dude.

Paul Cate III The military operations are always in this channel. The Cold War Channel covers the political aspects of the Cold War.
Yeah - in this one, which individual brigade moved where took quite a lot of space. On the other hand, the UN talks and their results, ending the war, more or less dropped down from heaven above without much context and explanations.
On the Cold War channel, it'll be the other way 'round, I guess.

This video was good but ended abruptly, a roundup of why this spelled the end of the British imperialist power was missed.
Your videos are amazing, thank you.
Just wrote my college thesis on the Suez Crisis, can’t wait to watch this lol
We arabs called it aggression not a crisis
Well it was certainly western aggression, we just refer to it as the Suez crisis in the states ساهر الرفاعي
ساهر الرفاعي most definitely aggression
donald seigel I think you’re ignoring the fact that the canal is squarely in Egyptian territory to begin with, and the canal was built off the backs of Egyptian laborers.
@@MrTmull21 And he was made to pay for it. Contract is a contract. Legal isn't a technicality. He rolled the dice and lost and his people paid for it in blood. Don't blame the west.
When Egypt fought countries that had the most powerful weapons, while Egypt had weapons that looked like scrap, even anti-aircraft weapons, Egypt did not possess them.

As an Egyptian it's really bleed my heart💔 At this time, our people in the Canal cities suffered a lot (Ismailia, Suez, and the valiant Port Said).
