But remember the Mitsubishi Evo 9 MR has a weaker transmission.
^^^^^
jdm evo 8/9 gsr also come with the 6 speed
I have an Evo 7. I have been told that I need to convert the AYC to Non-AYC diff if I want to do donuts. Kindly advise.
Nah just go faster.
I can't find a MR anywhere on the market😩
hey so i drive a focus st, its stage 3 by cobbs standards and tuned. and i got beat by a stock evo 10. that lead me to some research and i ended up here. question! is the duel clutch auto faster than that manual transmission for the evo? i know in newer cars the duel clutch trannys are like 10 times faster than a human, so im curious if the older evo duel clutch still holds up to that. and if you plan on making 400+ Hp with the evo would that auto trans be able to hold up to that like a manual would? (assuming you get a better clutch in the 5spd or 6)
Hey so IDK if you realize but I too have a Focus ST. Fun torque cars but at higher speeds you're right not really a match for an Evo due to their larger turbos. So to answer your question the SST in the Evo MR is EXTREMELY fast. It's built by Getrag in Germany and was way ahead of it's time and Price range for a car.
An Evo 10 MR with a tune, intake and exhaust will make 400hp no problem
@@willsanders187 i really appreciate you getting back to me, that MR really impresses me. now youve driven an evo and a focus ST back to back all the time i bet. is there any range where the focus feels anything close to how hard the evo pulls? like say a 2nd gear pull or something. or is the evo night and day faster at all times. and im curious about the cornering how do they match up?
They don't feel the same at all. This isn't all bad mind you. Frankly, 15yr old Mitsu kinda feels like it may come apart on you by comparison to how tight the ST feels.Thats just years of car progress. The Evo 10 felt more like the ST in this regard. My Evo feels much more connected to the road whereas the ST doesn't though... kinda like how my 8 felt vs the 10 too. As for a speed comparison the ST with its larger engine and smaller turbo feels extremely quick...but it never really feels fast
@@willsanders187 wow that is spot on, when people ask me if my car is fast i always tell them that. its nots "fast" but its a quick car. just enough that its fun. thank you for letting me know all that info!
Hands down best explanation. Right now I’m sadly at that part and time where I’m deciding between a 04-07 sti vs Evo 9. Stuck at which is better to invest in and the evo 9 transmission both 5 and 6speed. Sti (engineEj57❌transmission🙌) Evo (engine4g63🙌 transmission🤔)
Can u tell me price this car?
Were you thinking of the KYB struts?
Correct :)
Ash K those are super stiff!
Aren’t the MR in the evo 9 or older all manual? and only the evo x mr came paddle shifters?
All MR’s are manual. The X’s have a dual clutch (paddle shifters).
@@willsanders187 The Evo X MR is an automatic bro, even if they have "manual mode" its like saying the Nissan GTR R35 is a "manual" car, just because they have "manual" mode, doesnt mean they are manual, if I don't see a third pedal then you are a automatic.
I get what your saying but the “third pedal” is to engage/ disengage the clutch. The dual Clutch in the Evo and GTR as the name implies have clutches and if not for the paddles or the ecu (when in auto) they could not shift gears.
Again, I get what you’re trying to say but they are in no way an automatic because even in auto they jerk like a manual. They may not have a third pedal either though...
Newer cars are autos yes technically
JDM GSR come with 6 Speed and AYC
RS 5 Speed no ayc
GT 5 Speed no ayc but with GSR comfort.
Does it matter? Most people are going to make their evos faster.
Nice
Question bro I’m looking into getting an evo, is the MR automatic?
It’s a dual clutch. So while it can be driven in auto mode it’s actually a manual with no clutch pedal. Search Porsche PDK to learn more.
The EVO X MR comes auto, but EVO X GSR is standard, but older evo 9 and older MR are all Manual which is so weird
Imagine a dct evo 9 lol
@@willsanders187 Just confirming are you stating an Evo 9 MR 6 speed has no physical clutch pedal? If so I would have to disagree.
The user supreme however is correct in his response to the original question.
However I believe any Lancer Evolution models should be manual.. and any "automatic, sst" models should be classified as a GTA (Like the auto 7s or Ralliart). Avoids the confusion.
LHD Real JDM r the best ONLY.
Come on people the real Evo’s stopped at 9. Anything after that is just pretending!
2F2F throwback !!!!
Also what you think of the new c8 coming out - Used to have an evo VIII back in the day and am always looking at my old loves the Type R Integra and the Evo but the Vette going mid engine at 60K price tag has me intrigued.
It’s hard to ever really argue with corvettes and the power per dollar. However, aarp membership always deters me so I’d have to have one loud and probably cammed version to make it known I’m not retired ha
