    Also the interior of a MR looks better than most GSRs that looks like the standard lancers. Leather recaros, navi system and subwoofer

    I really liked the way the MR drove. The SST shifts quickly and I found it to be very engaging to drive. However, I couldn’t convince myself that it wouldn’t be a maintenance nightmare, so I ended up getting a GSR….somewhat ironically, I know the guy who bought the MR I was looking at and the SST failed less than 800 km’s after he bought it. He’s now looking at shipping it out to Kozmic.

    TL;Dr I now can't decide between an MR or a GSR.
    I have a '12 Lancer Ralliart. I love it. Still on my first transmission. Thank the heavens it hasn't shattered on me. My biggest gripe? I am driving an awesome vehicle with a hand grenade for a transmission. The Ralliart is sitting at 160k miles. I am looking into getting an EvoX. Im trying to steer clear from the MR because the SST spooks me especially the cost of the diaqueen SSTF-1 fluid ($475 for 4L two cans!!!). However despite the sst being anxiety inducing it is hella quick. I can go to Kozmic and get the $7k overhaul and lessen the chance of my SST bricking itself then FBO, however; the sensible side of me says get a GSR save yourself a headache and use the $7k for FBO, suspension, wheels and tires. Watching your video about MR's has now put me in between a rock and a hard place. You have gained a subscriber from this one vid and I am going to watch more vids about your Evo opinions coz this is really helpful! Cheers!

      @@stevealexx I just liked the sst better, once u tune it it shifts so fast is amazing, Im in full bolt ons pushing close to 400whp for 8 years now and car still strong. To add to your comments, RE: driveability...
    6 gears allows for lower RPMs between shifts, making everyday driving a little more comfortable. (less noise) But, also, shifting though 6 gears AND staying in boost the whole time makes for a much more fun experience! (note... no boost lag, need for Rev match, brake boosting, etc.)
    Consider that 1st gear is actually a rather long gear in the MR. Layman's: 1st is actually a DRIVING gear if you want it to be. This alone for folks who come from DSM world makes the MR a wonder to drive.
    Comment on looks. Though purely superficial, the MR has the ability to make your shitbox look a little more premium. HIDs standard, chrome window trim, cup holder folding lid, heated seats, and the option for full-on leather Recaros (not half-and-half like that which you get in the GSR PP and JDM/CADM/AUDM/GB FEs. )
    They really do retain value better than the GSR.
    I second and third on SST maintenance. It might cost more, but it's not that different from servicing an automatic. (You just want to make sure it's done by a true expert on the Getrag DCT470.)
    (And if you're from Houston... You're in luck. Hint-hint)

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  5 лет назад +2

      Hahaha did you use a cup holder cover as a reason to get a MR!? That’s freaking awesome I love it

    • @slippercream
      @slippercream 5 лет назад

      @@willsanders187 LOL, no, but I replaced the open one in the FE with one that has a lid 😁 Glad you enjoyed that.
      Honestly, I love both of em as it seems a 5-speed and DCT have different purposes. They behave very different thanks solely to the transmission.
      But, on the "Foo Foo" appeal, there is value in getting the additions that come with the more "expensive" trim.
      With aesthetic appeal, I knew it doesn't make much of a difference in how the cars drive. But I do notice that when I pull up next to another Evo and it's a GSR, having chrome this or color-keyed that, it adds to the idea that you have a better optioned car overall. And it shows just the same when you pull up next to an Audi.
      My FE is a garage queen, but I've done everything I can to give it the premium treatment that an MR has. Because when it comes time to appraise, I expect that it'll retain a better value with the aesthetics of a premium trim, than one that isn't. Make sense?

    If I could afford it, I would own 10 MR's to 1 GSR. I've owned an MR for 2 years now, and I always drive it on manual mode, I don't use the paddles, but the shifter itself and the only difference between the GSR and the MR is I don't use a clutch. Yes my transmission light is on and it needs a rebuilt - I would gladly send it to Kozmic or Jacks to be rebuilt, when I get the money. All in all, I love it. It's responsive and robust.

    Have you tested both GSR vs MR on a rolling straight line (making the same power) to say that? Or even stock vs stock? I can understand 0-60 from a Dig being faster, and going around a circuit slightly faster because you eliminate a lot of shit time & potential driver error. But I’ve compared between a few MR’s when I was Stock. And the GSR pulls over the MR in the straights easily. • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  5 лет назад +3

      Yes and in super sport. Harder shifts are actually better. Softer shifts mean it’s slipping more. It’s counterintuitive I know

    • @slippercream
      @slippercream 5 лет назад +2

      technically if you want the clutch packs to last longer, you want to drive it in SS manual. Normal mode runs down the clutches by riding them longer. same as is you have a multi puck / multi plate clutch on a standard M/T, you ride the clutch longer to make the engagement smoother. But as a result, you run them down quicker.
      Make sense?

And I have not had any problems. Properly because it is stock.😀 I must say that I am very impressed with the MR. I thought it was also a nicer car than the GSR.
