I have "3" brand new 120xp out of the $300 16pc set that are bad. Long wait on these. I have offset wrenches, sometimes I really like a flat wrench with the low profile. Good reviews. For my offset SAE I landed on DeWalt- THEY ARE SOLID. and Tiawan. Reversible. Very tough
I got the Wen non-reversing 16 piece, 7mm-22mm set, in the cloth roll. $73 shipped. I wanted good ratcheting wrenches and Im not dissapointed. These are good Taiwanese tools. The only thing you don't get is ripped off.
Nice post sir. I just watched a video of a guy who is selling his snap-on and buying gearwrench, well at least a 1/4 inch set, he didn't say why. I personally do own gearwrench tools and some I flat out do not like to use and I will use anything that works. My son gave me my first set of gearwrench wrenches so I bought myself a few, I saw some on sale, ect so I just regret some of my purchases. I want to add I've never regreted buying good tools.
Thanks for the feedback!! Yeah I have a lot of gearwrench in my box and I’m thinking I’ll have a lot less moving forward. I will say - I’m very very happy with Tekton products - and will likely be adding more of their products to my toolbox too!
It seems like over the last year or two Gearwrench has entered the lower end of the tool market. I remember walking into our local tractor supply, and seeing a 30? piece rachet wrench set for $65. They seemed uncommon, and looking online I discovered a lot of their tools having cheaper variations. Which in itself isn't a bad thing, however their priced all over the place, that $65 set I found to be anywhere from $70-$200. It seems like they are releasing entry level tools, which are getting priced in the wrong tier list, or retailers are pricing them wrong. I would be furious if I bough a $200 set of tools to find them $140+ off (after tax) somewhere else. You expect quality for a price, and with their cheaper tools they have had to cut some corners.
Choose wisely, the Gearwrench from China are not up to the quality and standards of the Gearwrench made in Taiwan! FYI, Harbor Freight as well, they dropped the Pittsburgh Pro line and now just Pittsburgh, and their combo wrenches are made in India! Which can I say it, is worst than the garbage HF sells from China. They still sell a sell from China with the V-Groove feature, and they cost more, and have more consistent finish. BUT, they cheaped out and made them from Carbon Steel, instead of a real tool grade alloy like Chrome-Vandadium or Chrome-Moly. It's ridiculous how China is making such disposable junk and HF execs push it. Even Husky combo wrenches are now made in India! But the price they charge is still for their older Taiwan-made product. Damn!

I find myself reaching for the gearwrench flex head wrenches at work because of the lack of offset. I agree with your assessment.
Yeah flex head stubby will probably be my next addition - especially since I’m about to dive into some engine work on a stub nosed van!!

Yeah, the 120xp libe is so freaking finicky. I had to piece a set together from 3 different sets, just to get a fully functional set.
@@victorhoyt4352 I believe that 100%

Yeah that's what hard with GW these days -- their product line is huge and some is absolute crap -- and other stuff is just money.
Wow you gotta be careful even with the GearWrench tools nowadays😮
I guess the question is wen will I get em?
This is good info! Thank you very much!
Why isn't there a powered crescent wrench?
Thsnks for exposing Grearwrench
Yeah... I'm not happy with their direction
I brought the husky sae and metric from HD for $170. I think they are maid in Taiwan too.
Nice comparison! Just found you, I’m subbed
Wen reversing wrenches are out of stock everywhere. Anywhere you know where to get them?
Yeah I'm guessing they stopped manufacturing them -- wonder who actually made em and who else has rebrands
I have gear wrenches from the late 1990s they were made really well back then the new stuff from China are garbage
Yeah I have a bunch of old Gearwrench stuff too - the quality is going downhill fast.

"China makes great stuff" wow, that's something I never thought I'd hear.
China gearwrench vs Taiwan gearwrench = big difference
