My husband and I are newer to your channel and we love watching you because your positive and because you give thanks every day to our lord and savior. I’m disabled with a back injury and he’s a disabled military veteran and we both were recently inspired by you to start scrapping ourselves. We have been to our local scrap yard 3 times in the last month and made 45.00 the first trip, 39.00 the second and almost 50 the last trip the other day. We also buy and sell on eBay and our first trip to the scrap yard we found 2 things in the trash that we sold on eBay. One was a brand new Twilight Barbie doll in the box that we sold for 70.00 within the first hour we listed it and the other was a 1970’s wall phone we sold for 25.00. We have so much fun together and my husband and I are best friends. God has blessed us with each other and 2 beautiful grandchildren. We include you in our prayers and thank you for providing a channel that has such a positive outlook on life when our world shows so much negative. God bless you and your family and stay positive.

Love the videos, Paul! My cousin and I used to go junkin' every night after work. I was just blown away what people would throw away to the curb. Your videos have inspired me to pick up junkin' again. I no longer have my trusty suburban, so I did the right thing and shoved my finds into my Honda accord ;) I mainly look for things I can resell. I have found a tiller, brand new lawn mower, another lawn mower, a couple edgers, tool boxes, you name it. Of course copper wire too. You should see the looks I get when I'm shoving a tiller or mower into the back seat of my brand new looking 2012 accord with leather seats LOL!! It all cleans up, in the end. Take care!

Paul, thanks as always for the video. When somebody says something like "why don't you get a real job?" etc; I'm always glad to see your upbeat response to it. Plus, with this "job", that you do and share with us, there are alot of us who are uplifted in spirit due to your nature. Thanks so much for that. With all the negativity in the world, you try to stay upbeat. And thank you for praying in your videos. God Bless.

Hey Paul. I commented on an old video, but I was not sure you saw those old comments. I just found your channel in the last few days. There is something about watching you work, and hearing the words of your heart, that speaks volumes. I am a Pastor in Florida, and I wanted to stop and let you know that you are a blessing brother. Your attitude and constant praise offerings are encouraging. Thank you my friend, and keep up the amazing work. May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you richly.

You Tube has stopped showing how many subscribers each channel has. Some of the really old water heaters that sat on stands where bronze tanks but haven't seen one in years. It was good for a $100 bill when we found one. Don't quite see how a plastic tub dishwasher meets the 70% metal rule. You have a real important job that you are satisfied with and not many get to spend time with their children doing it. Amazed at how much white metal racking you collect, that stuff is not cheap. I watch/let run at least two videos each time, washroom breaks on the long ones so you receives some income and tip jar every so often. Your channel is worth it. Your back ground music rocks.

The people who constantly say "get a real job" are really just trying to feel superior above people like you. They don't have an inkling of happiness in them so they have to find people who go against the grain and bash them in order to make their lives meaningful. A sad state of affairs but it's an unfortunate reality that anyone doing anything but wake up, eat, work, repeat until death are for some reason or another worthy of ridicule.

Dear Jack, wait till it's all you know how to do. And, I'm disabled on top of it, but I enjoy helping my neighbors get rid of items that the garbageman doesn't wish for it to go into the truck. It can get stuck inside and wedge. But, there is some items, that your guy doesn't do, and I wonder why. Like, the vacuum. Most of them, just get tossed, and all they need is a good clean out.
I'd like to talk to this guy, but not sure on how to contact him. And, when a person subscribes, what is the cost for each time? Sorry, but still trying to understand this form of entertainment, I guess. But, it's also to learn more. Thanks for your time in this matter. TT04, Iowa.

Ridicule no one. We are not put on this earth to judge one another. We will all be judged someday. But not by one another. Treat people the way you wish to be treated. With respect. Ridicule is just a form of bullying. No place for it.

Jack my thing is if you are scrapping "THINK BEFORE YOU TOSS IT"!! Personally like I was saying above about the toolbox in this video, I would rather find a tool box full of tools and SELL IT for more money then scrap it for mere pennies!!
Another example is this......Three years ago I had some scrap, but not enough to weight anything so I was in the "free" section on Craig's List and say an ad there stating "Free Scrap Metal- Come Get It" I called the guy up to asked when a good time was and let him know I was on my way if he was home, he was tickled that I was so quick to jump on his ad!
I got to his house and he had been doing a "garage clean out" (basically), so when I showed up he had a pile of scrap metal set aside for me THEN a pile of wood, lumber and building materials in another pile that he was going to take to the dump himself!!
After inspecting his scrap metal pile I freaked!! He was throwing out scrap rebar that was about 6 foot long, an old broken garage door opener, some odds and ends of aluminum flashing that was still "new" and in a neat bunch of rolls, and though certainly NOT LAST he had BRAND NEW aluminum "corners" for doing a sheet rock walls in a tidy pile as well as some other random scrap!
I loaded it ALL in my truck and STILL had some room left over so I turned to look at the lumber he was "throwing out"! he had stacks of oak and maple trim, a bunch of base board and door molding and some "odds and ends" of deck parts (pressure treated) and crown molding and so on!!
Long story short I TOOK ALL THAT TOO!!!!
My point is this....I was able to use the wood to remodel my living room at my home, and some of the deck (pressure treated wood), I used to build a few things around my home as well as do a couple "odd jobs" for my neighbors with his "used junk"!! As far as the metal goes the Aluminum Corner stuff used for making corners on sheet rock walls I checked the price at Lowe's on the stuff and they sell "retail" for about $10 each.....I sold the WHOLE DAMN PILE OF THEM for $20 which was about 30 pieces of it!!! All of it was STILL brand new when he gave them to me for "scrap metal" and it was "all profit in my pocket" because I paid NOTHING FOR ANY OF IT!!! And when the guy showed up to buy the Sheet Rock Corner stuff he saw the rebar stack I had gotten told me he was doing some concrete work and I sold him ALL the rebar I had for another $30!!! In the end I made $50 off of scrap metal I would have only made $10 on had I taken it in for scrap metal!! And not only was I happy to help the guy out, BUT I was even more tickled to have MORE MONEY IN MY POCKET for about a hours worth of "actual work" (loading my truck) and ten minutes of posting the stuff online to sell it!!!
Another way I "make more money that being a "stupid scrapper" is I find old mowers that are "junk" and I take them for free when I see them sitting out! If I scrap them I only ever get $2 for a push mower at my scrap yard....BUT.....if I talk to two buddies of mine, usually they will give me $10 for them because they use them for parts in their mower sales businesses, OR they have even given me $30 for decent mowers that don't run at times!!
Personally I would RATHER EARN $30 from junk than $2 from junk....but apparently "that is just me" and too many of "today's scrappers" are too stupid to realize "the potential" of "profit" that they are "just throwing away" at the scrap yard!!!
Lastly making matters worse is my former son in law!! HE TOO is one of those so called "Stupid Scrappers" and a couple years ago he got a pile of furnaces given to him! I asked him if I could have one and he sold it to me for just $10 I was happy as snot about it!! You see I wanted to convert my Miller Gun Oil Furnace to Gas, and these furnaces he was scrapping had the EXACT GUN ASSEMBLY I needed to do just that!! I took the gun down to my local furnace repair shop and asked them to "tune it for me" and they happily did the work and charged me only $30 for the work they did to it!! BUT as I pulled my furnace apart to swap the gun unit out, that is when I noticed a HUGE CRACK in the fire brick inside the firebox....so I had to scrap my 48 year old oil furnace anyhow!!! Keep in mind I paid $40 for this gas gun assembly to buy it from my son in law, and to have it tuned up and serviced to work in my furnace.......BUT I placed the gas gun Craig's List for sale for just $80 because as it stands to buy these gun assemblies NEW or even rebuild they cost between $300 to $800!!!
Long story short I wish I had of bought ALL those furnaces off my son in law!!! I had 15 calls asking me if I still had the thing and I got another 30 emails for the gun assembly as well!!! And I sold the gas gun for $80 no questions asked and had the service paper work PROVING the thing worked and was ready to fit in ANY Miller Gun Furnace Model CFM80!!! And here my son in law had scrapped 30 of these furnaces, all with the guns STILL IN THEM, for just $80 and had he done what I did he would have (could have) earned almost $2300 BUT like I say scrapper HATE MONEY and are too stupid when it comes to what they COULD MAKE and EARN!!!

That's got to be the first time you put a vacuum on the back of your truck, in the UK we either smash the electric motors out or just weigh them in with the light iron, they don't mind as the boys in the scrap yard will smash them up for the motors and in turn the boss buys them after deducting the loss of iron price, it's a good way to keep on the good side of the boys weighing your non ferrous, god bless you Paul, you give me motivation with your videos, I've not worked much this year because of serious mental health issues, lease keep posting those videos

I totally agree with your job theory! My husband and I scrap, it’s enjoyable! We’ve both had the 8-10 hr shifts of what is considered a normal job, for many years. We are much happier and probably more enjoyable to be around, when we decided to just scrap. Does it make you rich? NO! But it sure makes us happier and wiser, when it comes to purchases we make. We do sell some things on Facebook and craigslist, but most of it gets scrapped. We have our copper pile and brass pile and aluminum pile, etc. We live on an older farm with buildings, so we have room to store stuff up til the price is right. We don’t scrap every day, like you do, but we do bring in shred scrap, once we have a truck n trailer full.

Toolbox proves my point of what I was saying in another post on your channel!!! If you scrap the tool box you will only get "about" $2 for it as "scrap metal" BUT if you clean it up and sell it in a yard sale THERE ARE GUYS OUT THERE (like me) that would pay $15 to $20 for a tool box GLADLY at a garage sale and think nothing of it, more so if there are tools in it still!! I was at a yard sale a few years back talking to the owner who was throwing the sale, and I said to him "I am looking for old tools" and he says to me "I have two toolboxes in my garage I want to get rid of that are full of tools! One look at the machinist tool boxes he had and I offered him $40 for the pair!!!! Got home with them an hour later and come to find out, they had many useful tools in them still!! The one had a WHOLE DRAWER FULL of drill bits and I will NEVER need to buy another drill bit as long as I live as I was able to literally FILL four drill indexes with the bits I got from that purchase!! The other toolbox had a drawer FULL of Allen wrenches in it, AND there was a decent pair of $200 mics in it, and a name brand set of digital calipers in it as well!! And that wasn't all that was in these tool boxes as there was also a magnetic base and a couple of dial indicators in it as well as files, screw drivers and some other very "special" machinist tools, like carbide mill bits which I gave to my father in a shoe box for free!!! Long story though about three years later I knew a kid who got a similar tool box FULL OF TOOLS LIKE MY TWO BOXES and all he got for them as scrap was $5 so unless you "hate money" which apparently scrappers do, scrapping good tools that you could sell and make a profit on (because they are literally F**KING FREE TO YOU TO START WITH) is just stupid to scrap it for "weight" when you can make two or three times what the scrap yard will give you for it as "junk"!! But like I say scrappers seem to "hate money" and think it is "better to make $2 rather than $10 or $20" apparently!!
By the way the two tool boxes I bought at the yard sale ARE THE SAME SIZE as the one you just found, and again I was happy as snot to pay $20 each for them knowing there was unwanted tools inside them!! But hey do as you please, and I am just saying a quick post to Letgo.com and you could earn yourself $10 or $15 or even $20 to selling that tool box to a guy like myself who is always looking for a deal on tools!! And trust me some of the best tools I got came from "some guy on Craig's List" that didn't know what he had or what it was worth, and then was "almost ready to scrap it" for mere pennies....but do what you want....you will anyhow!!!!

I agree with your "work philosophy". Since I retired I found I had time to share my talents. I too played in bands for years and have expanded my audio expertise to help design, install, maintain and train folks in church audio. Many don't know why the system that sounded SO good with music is totally unintelligible for the spoken word, which is essential for a church environment as is the music used in praise. What I gain in satisfaction MORE than compensates for any monetary gain.

Rusty tools of quality can be put in a vinegar bath for a day or two, a gentle sanding perhaps a drop of protective oil and it's like new. The YT channel "Restoration channel showed a clip on restoring an old rip cut handsaw in a state where you would have scrapped it. Though handtools of that quality in fair condition goes for fairly good money on second hand market. These old tools can be sharpened over and over which makes them good for those who are into finer woodwork. The modern you buy often have that coating and a "stronger" metal, which is excellent builders grade, the edges last somewhat longer but when it's done it's gone. Same with knives with that old carbon steel, they may rust easily but can be easily sharpened to extremely sharp.

just had a possible idea for you, after seeing you, many times, having to repack the truck. could you attach double dog-gates to the front of the bed to use when you have to go vertical? or some type of accordion-style gates. as i "see" them in my head...they would swing to the sides when not in use. maybe better than rope, maybe sturdier? sorry to "butt-in"! i also missed the morning Ralph thing too! lol thanks for a good video, again.

Hello Paul, I am fairly new to your channel so this may have been mentioned before. Like many I used to do some dumpster diving and recycling and found it profitable to take anything with an electric motor (mostly vaccumes, about 3-4 per week) and strip it out but I also took small furniture and refinished or upcycled it. I haven't done any of this in years as I don't have a vehicle. Unfortunately some communities have passed laws prohibiting dumpster diving and curbside scrapping mostly due to fights and stealing, the latter is why I no longer have yard decorations (a lot of people think if they can reach it it's fair game). While making your videos could you occasionally say a few words on what is acceptable to take and what's not?
Thanks for the great videos and for picking up after yourself.
