I've had a retriever for 7 years since he was a puppy. While they require a lot of effort, their bites are surprisingly gentle. Unlike some breeds, you don't need to worry about brushing their teeth; dental sticks have kept my dog's teeth in perfect condition. As for toys, Kongs are no match for retrievers-they tear through them in minutes. Instead, consider investing in buffalo horns; they're much more durable and will keep your retriever entertained for longer.

I’m glad you were blessed to have amazing four goldens 💚💚 I’m about to get my very first dog, is it ok to mainly exercise a golden retriever indoor? As the temperature around here is ~35c in late night and easily 45c in day 🥲 how much time should they exercise daily? Minimum and maximum so i can plan the schedule.
Truly grateful for your help and sharing your experience 💚🙏

We had no idea when we brought Fidget home at 8 weeks (she’s now 3 months old) that she’d be such a little pirahna! Thankfully our 4 year old German Shepherd took pity, and on day two, he started cutting in and herding her away whenever she went for the ankles. He taught her so well! Before the end of the week, she no longer went into pirahna-mode with us. She does however, play really hard with him! He loves it, and so does she 💕

My little girl is almost 5 months old. She's so big, it's hard to remember that she's just a baby. I responded to a CL ad for a dog needing special attention. I'm retired so I've got time, energy and love. Emmy was totally shut-down, scared of everything from never, ever being exposed to anything. She was 8 months old and had no clue what a stick or ball was for. She froze when walking in a corridor with a turn to it. Mirror images and basking in the sun were new. Traffic was terrorizing. I'm thinking the family who bought her probably got her from a puppy mill in PA. They had her for two weeks. She was emaciated, her ribs and vertebrae were visible and she had no butt muscles at all. She had to have been like this when they bought her.
8 months later, she's a luv-bucket. She went from traumatized at the dog-park initially to a social butterfly and having the time of her life. She's pretty good at walking main st. and she's just experienced going in the water after being afraid. Watching her become a dog has been the best experience ever. The amount of luv that floats around the house equals the fur fuzz balls we now accept.

The cancer rates...we lost our boy last year to lymphoma. He was diagnosed in May of 2020 and we started chemo for six months until he went into remission. He had a resurgence in May of 2021 and after a month of new treatment the oncologist had the hard talk with us of how it was going to end. We said goodbye in July when I had to make the most difficult decision to end his suffering. But even now, knowing that the cancer rates are as high as they are, I will do it again in a year or so and go all in for another Golden.

I have an alien golden pup. He never bit down even when he had baby teeth. I mean never, not while playing, or being held.
Quite a contrast to my 8 yr old golden. When she was a baby, I had to explain my scratches and bites all over my hands and arms. She would “fly” at me with her mouth open!

I’m finding your channel SO helpful! My husband and got our first dog together before we got married. She was a GSD and the best dog in the world. She passed when my daughters were very young. Now that it’s been a few years, they are begging for another dog and they really want a Golden. Unfortunately I now have a debilitating autoimmune disease. I want to say yes to getting a Golden but the more research I do, the more I worry that it’s not the right fit. What’s strange is I always see this breed used as service and therapy dogs. I wish we could get a well trained, mellow Golden that would be a help to me. I’ve always loved this breed ❤

I have a lot of debilitating and painful health issues and after 5 hrs of work and a few hrs at the dog park per week, I’m sapped of energy and often in bed resting quietly. I have a 16 month old Dalmatian and just added a 9 month old Golden a month ago to complete my family. I highly recommend an older puppy over 8 or nine months. He chews every thing he comes into contact with but he is such a great age to rehome into your pack!they get along like puppies or adolescents rather, and we are making puppy memories too! Adopt a pet has rehome adoptions and if you’re fast on the draw, you will have yourself a great find!
