I grew up with a golden retriever/black lab mix. She had the silky longish coat with the feathers & was solid black. Best dog ever. I get choked up thinking of her. She was so affectionate & we did everything together. Smart too! Dad trained her to fetch the newspaper every morning 😂 She'd let me take naps with my head on her stomach when I was little. She was one of those magic dogs you have once maybe twice in your life if you're lucky. Maggie lived to 14 and passed of old age peacefully in her sleep. I still miss her.
My golden is a mix of American and I think field. He’s got a really short coat with a nice main around his neck and slim thick. He’s on pace to be about 100lbs when he’s full grown but I think that’s apart due to his diet which is mainly organ meat/vital large breed and mixed with kibble. He’s stubborn at times and went through a month and a half period of a reactive/fear stage but he’s the best first dog ever.
There's really only 3. American, Candadian, and English. For instance, mine is American, but he was bred to be a show dog, however, he was born with a slight birth mark on his nose so he could never be a show dog.
The British Golden Retriever was described as an overseas variation. What nonsense! The breed originated from the U.K. so it’s certainly NOT an overseas variation.

A Lab and Golden mix is called a Goldador.
I have a field bred golden. He’s dark red and loves to hunt pheasants.
Le meilleur des compagnons a quatre pattes
We have 2 goldens, both of them are Canadian girls❤
There is also the flat-coated retriever that is black.
