When I give my dog a hug while he’s sitting up, he lifts his paw on my shoulder to hug back. He started doing that on his own and it’s the cutest thing ever!
As a man that ended up on the streets after an accident with my dog. I went through hell to keep my dog. A dog having one owner his/her whole life is extremely important. Getting a dog should have an unbreakable commitment. The best thing about a dog is loyalty and that's what I give all my animals. Till death do us part. Bitter sweet endings.
i'm gonna pat myself on the back for sticking to my commitment to my dog through her puppyhood. i'd guess that many would not have, being that she was an absolute nightmare.
Exactly. l've been there done that. I've got 2 shitzus. We're a family. Nothing changes that. I love them and they love me. I'm not real happy where l am but as long as l'm with them and there happy and safe and fed that's all that matters.
Dogs are so amazing, they give us their all, and all for so little in return. The unconditional love, trust, affection, loyalty, prote tion and all the laughter they give us. We lose them so soon, their lives are so short, seems like it's over before we've really begun. I always think that this this is the price we pay for all they give us... ❤❤❤❤
Wow. I'm a professional dog walker. When I saw the title of this video, I thought it would be full of nonsense; things that a person who doesn't really understand dogs might say. But I 100% agree with all of the 26 items mentioned. Good job!
"Dogs can't feel guilt" My dog came down one day slouched over with tail between his legs and refused to come over when called and went straight to his bed and curled himself. I even waved his favorite treat at him, and wondered why he didn't come over. Found out he had poo-pooed on the carpet next to the fire place and I hadn't found out until hours later, when I was wondering why he didn't want to come hang out with me next to the fireplace.
They clearly show some form of anticipation of your reaction when they have done something they know you dislike. Whether they truley understand regret, or if they just dont want to be scolded, they show an understanding of a past action. So they know why they're being scolded.
I'm calling BS on that too. I can always tell when my dog has done something bad. She looks horribly guilt-ridden. If it was just an accident I don't make a big deal out of it. It was my fault for not letting her out often enough.
Yeah my dog had diarrhoea and couldn’t hold it and she ran into the bathroom and was super uncomfortable afterwards because she knows that she shouldn’t do it. Idk if it was guilt or if she was ashamed.
I love it how easy is everything with treats and positive reinforcement :DD My dog only stays and sits when we practice and there's treats. Any other time, she doesn't care about anything :D
Actually some dogs LOVE belly rubs. One of my mom’s best friends has one of the sweetest and friendliest dogs I’ve ever met, Jackson, and he’s such a love bug AND a cuddle bug! At friendly gatherings and parties, he always tries to make sure he’s noticed by as many people as possible. And if he wants a belly rub, he rolls over onto his back and he gives you the “puppy dog eyes” begging look that says “please PLEASE give me a belly rub” and once you do, he follows you everywhere you go. So actually I think dogs not liking belly rubs is actually for just particular dogs, because I’ve been around dogs my entire life and every single one, including the first one I’ve had and the one I have now, all love belly rubs
My dog actually does understand "complex" phrases. If I tell him "bed" he does nothing. If I tell him "sleep" he does nothing, but when I say, "go to bed" or "go to sleep", he gets up and goes to the bedroom and lays on his bed in the closet.
@@vanshikachhabra217 Mine knows "Bedtime, not playtime". If it's late and he wants to play I'll fuss him then tell him the phrase and he takes himself off to the couch.
Same with my dogs , I can say a thing in ' complex ' and very different sentences and they know excately what I tell them . Also they do in 4 different languages too . Im from Denmark and my dogs they understand Danish , English , Chinese and Tagalog ( Philippino languages ) . I Lived in China in many years and now in philippines so I have used all languages just as normal and they simply just understand . I can even ' mix ' a sentence and say something half in Danish and ( example ) finish in chinese and they fully understand it , they even try to ' talk / reply' back by using sounds to reply . Sometimes they can complain if they want something and I say no then they start ' discussing ' with talk like noises and when I for example repeat ' I told it is a no ' they really argue , it is actually funny . Dogs are more clever than many people think / know .
I gotta say, these are all 100% correct as someone who has been working with dogs for years and has many of them. Although one thing you missed is how much dogs hate when you blow on them, in dog language it basically means you want nothing to do with them which is pretty mean. Another thing is don’t take your dog on a walk with an extremely short leash, it isn’t entertaining for them and it isn’t sufficient exercise since dogs needs tons of exercise. If you live in the country teach them to walk off leash, my dogs adore off leash walks. I also suggest clearing out a space in your home for them to have a play area.
Can I just say dogs are way more intelligent than people give them credit for. My dog learned how to open the sliding door herself so now I have to lock it.
I mean, depends what dog you have. My dog keeps running into the wall, then when she notices I was looking, she gives me that look that says, "You saw nothing..." and runs off
Another misnomer is that a dog doesn’t know whether he’s being spoiled or not. You can live in a big house with lots of toys and walks and play time but your dog just thinks it is normal. Conversely, he could be in a one room shack, walked infrequently, 1 or 2 toys to play with. If they have love and affection from their owner, that’s all they care about.
Quality of time & attention are indeed important. Your dog knows the difference between an intentional, focused rubdown where you say how much you love him & a lukewarm distracted pat on the head. Same with walks. I just consider walks with my dog to be for him, so he can sniff & pee on his favorite things. 😹
The more I see of these videos , the more I think my dog is broken .. The vacuum cleaner , she loves it. Always bugging me till I use the cleaner on her, probably she feels it like a kind of massage. Fresh washed clothes, blankets - same story. Doesn't matter what I'm preparing in the kitchen, she sits in 1st row. Hoping all the food will fall on the ground. Forcing her into socializing was something I had to do, but as part of training. And it worked ! Rushing the dog during walks was something she did on her own. I had to slow her down and learn to sniff around.
I had a spaniel that used to sit on the vacuum cleaner when he was puppy! He loved being pushed and pulled around the floor on wheels. All though his life he loved vacuum cleaners!
Don't feel bad most of what was said on the video is case by case. I have had dogs afraid of their own shadow to my 2 GSDs, who love to snuggle, not afraid of anything except birds and ducks.
These videos are total crap. I have Chihuahua and you can mistake her for a plush toy sleeping 20 hours a day. Loves every single dog(the bigger the better) or human and I do not need any harnes or anything, cause she just listens on single gestures or sounds I use for her. She once ran too far and I hid behind the corner of the house, never ever leaves me from her sight again. She loves to sit on my shoulder.
Scientists have proven that dogs DO feel guilt and they know when they've done something wrong. They're pack animals, and as such, these things are necessary. But that said, you shouldn't yell at them for doing bad things, you should instead try to figure out why they're doing the things. Maybe they are bored or understimulated?
I noticed animals also teach eachother things. I had a cat that use to open the gate(and doors that are slightly open) with his paws. And after a while my dog started doing the samething. Edit: also yes they do feel guilt. I experience this from my dog a few times as well as a bunch of other emotions. And they can learn quite alot of words and phrases too.
Yell as in screaming at them no. But raising your voice a bit. And telling them. You know better than what you just did what's wrong with you like to do that that's a bad dog. Or something along that line. We generally have your dog put his head down insane and disappointed and then you will try to please you and get your forgiveness. But whether it be a dog a child or a grown adult. At times we're going to be bored or unstimulated it's a part of life. Teach him how to deal with that emotion. And you will have a lot less problems when you're gone. The dog knows that it pleases you that they watch her home when you're gone. That that is his job. he will be happy knowing he's pleasing you and not be so all the anxiety when you're gone. And I'm having a dog companion like another dog helps a lot as well
I got a dog with no guilt, first one I've ever seen. You take too long getting ready for a walk ? She'll go by her self . Not one fuck to give. She listens though but I think she might be part cat
My girlfriend's dog may be an outlier, but she loves getting cuddled. If you kiss her in her face of her muzzle she won't lean away but turn towards you to lick your face. Something that surprises me is that we can really cuddle her, like fully wrap your arms around and she doesn't show any sign of stress or discomfort. She's been raised with lots of attention since she was a pup, and doesn't really understand 'personal space' though. I don't mind, I love that dog. Also, keep in mind what breed your dog is, different breeds needs different things. Don't dress your husky because it's cold outside, and don't expect shepherds or work breeds to sit in an appartment all day and be content.
My dog is the same way. When he's on my lap, I'll make "kissy" noises and he'll put his nose against mine. He also likes me petting his muzzle too. When we are on the couch together he'll just plop his muzzle in my hand and poke me until I pet him on it. I was always told to get dogs comfortable with you touching their ears/muzzle when they are young. It'll make it easier for vets when they are older. ...lol My dog will let me touch those places, just not the vet. Oh well.
The only one I have beef with is that last one. Dogs are way more complex than we give them credit for. Most of the time, my pups look guilty when they did something wrong BEFORE I find it. They won't let me say hello or play. Thats when I know to look for the bathroom accident or destroyed belonging. Plus, the whole "kissing your dog`s face gives them anxiety" is very much case by case. I have had and worked with (vet tech and pet hotels) many pups that lean in and initiate face kisses
I agree - and it is the same way with my dog and the “guilt” emotions. I am not positive that it is guilt she is feeling, but it is very obvious when she knows she has done some thing that is counter to what she is supposed to do.
Just remember with older dogs, they can't really be trained, they also are more sensitive to arguing, yelling, and they also HATE nerd guns, I speak from experience, dogs are afraid of being shot by the darts, or they just don't like it. Older dogs will be scared and it could make their life shorten because of the stress.
I've always had dogs most of them have been 80+ lbs I've mostly had dogs that are 120 the 165. And I try to get dogs that need work because of abuse. I have never been formally trained but I spent a lifetime educating myself. My family often is referred to me as a dog whisperer. I've learned this being laid back and treating your dog like it's another person it's the best way to go with a dog. Not only can they understand complex commands. But they also have no problem understanding multiple commands for the same thing and the same gesture for multiple commands depending on the situation. For example I can be sitting on the couch and my dog can be in the other room I can have my head towards me and he will come. And standing outside with him I can now my head towards the house and he will go in the house. And scolding is the best way to teach your dog is wrong. Treat your dog right love respect and unconditional love. He will spend his days trying to please you and if you inform them by scolding them what displeases you the time to not do it again. If you let them know what it is just calling them about why you explain to them not to do it no more. Whoever the idiot is I thought of ignore the things you don't like and they will stop. probably has a dog with the worst behavior in the world. The dogs doing something wrong and you ignore it because you don't want to address it thinking addressing it will cause him to keep doing it you are 100% incorrect how's you to know if you don't tell him.
Mine too, even my tools. Caught my dog chewing on my roofing hammer that I accidentally left on the floor in my tool belt. He thought it was a human scented bone I guess.
I'm all for dogs playing together but when an owner who doesn't know how to put their dog on a lead goes for my dog, I'm gonna protect him because he's literally been hurt in the past and has the scars to prove it. My dog does have a jacket because he doesn't like getting hurt. Mine is a weirdo because he loves fireworks, and he has an emotional attachment to the towel he was brought home in as a puppy that we still have nearly eleven years later.
I always seem to come across so regularly owners who walk their dogs off the lead in a dog park close to my home and then their dogs come charging at my 4 month old puppy like they saw a naw chew toy and even try getting their teeth onto my puppy, I get told off for protecting my puppy as the other owner of the dogs just say “they just want to play”.
I have covid and haven't seen my dog in two weeks but I'm told he's gone into a depression without me because he has some pretty bad separation anxiety.
I dog sit over 20 different dogs. Most of the time I only get to meet them once and I’m the stranger coming into their home. I have to get the dog to trust me. Than I need to be able to read that dog. Their person just left and may have separation anxiety and a stranger in their home. I always take the dog for a walk right away. I let the dog decide how much interaction they want from me. Keeping their schedule is why I go to their home. I always adjust walks in the summer. 100 degrees is tough on a dog. This was good information
I've occasionally dressed my dog with hoodies I've hand sewn for fun. Jhonen Vasquez fell in love with her when he noticed her wearing her GIR hoodie in my arms.
I have had dog's in my life for close to 70. Year's andI can assure you that if you talk to your dog they can and do understand language. To the extent that often time's I would have to spell what I was saying.
Really, no kidding. The original statement went as follows. I talked to my dogs since they were puppies and the older they got the more they understood. My dog's usually live to be19 year's and older.
@@lindaedwards2342 They understand single word commands and as others have mentioned they can understand alot of these with time and training. Language especially how you are suggesting it as the concept of combining smaller structures together to describe larger, varied things, including the ability to construct entire new descriptions based on language used previously to describe something similar. Dogs can't do this. How do we know? Data driven studies and no dog ever demonstrating this under observation + mri scans + knowing how many neuron networks a dogs brain consists of. Even without observation studies it would be easy to conclude from the brain that the part for dealing with language is not big enough to do so....nor would it make any sense from an evolutionary side for it to be.
I disagree about the fact that dogs don’t feel guilt. My dog always knew he did something wrong. When I would come home from work he would get off the couch and greet me. But if he had an accident he would hide but it was just an accident. I didn’t punish him I just found a dog walker that would help him during the day so he would not have to wait so long. Much happier dog and happier owner. The dog walker would often take him to a dog park so he can play and when I got home he was too tired to get off the couch … slowly he would stretch and greet me. Thank GOD he never chewed anything but a good bone.
Yep. One of my childhood dogs couldn’t lie. If something was chewed up all you had to do was ask her “Did you do that?” If not she’d look at you. If she did she’d hang her head in shame.
Knowing you did something wrong and feeling guilty are two very different things. Although many owners wouldn't even consider punishing their dog for pooping in the house while they are away, their dog will definitely pick up on the fact that their owner does not like cleaning it.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about dogs - much appreciated! It helps me understand them better and I might even not want to have one w knowing how natural and normal many of their habits are - they deserve to be natural for sure! Thank you so much 👍🧡
Dogs are as different as snow flakes. This video is like a general list of rules to abide by when approaching an unfamiliar dog or until you get to know their do’s and don’ts. They all like similar things and yes they mostly do “Dog stuff”, but I have four different Breeds from a tea cup Yorkie, a French bulldog, a pit bull, and a Belgian malinois. Each one of their personalities are very much different and they still function as a pack! ❤ and can understand fairly complex commands.
No they aren't, they are basically all the same. All dogs are vicious unless raised as a puppy by humans. All dogs will try and kill and eat you if you starve them
Nah sorry but they don’t. He’s likely just reacting to the key words he knows. Dogs just don’t have the mental capacity to understand sentence structure. They may understand for example if you say “do you want to go on a walk”. They are picking up on the words “walk” and “go” because you likely say it each time before it happens. But they have no idea what “want” or “you” means because these don’t have a physical representation for them to relate with an object or action. People like to think their dog understands sentences just because they can pick up on key words within one.
so you have said "this is a tennis ball", "this is a toy duck", "see this basket here?"...."I am going to put both the tennis ball and the duck at the other side of the room and I want you to take only the duck and put it in the basket"? If your dog can do this, you have the only dog in the world which can as this has never been demonstrated under test conditions. If I take my dog for a walk and the dog is ahead and there is options for going straight on, or turning right. I say "go right" or sometimes "we are going right". It understands and goes right. Is this because it understood the concept of "go" and "right" separately? Or is it actually a mixture of the specific command and physical language? As humans we weirdly turn right more and tend to take right turning circular walks, I also probably don't say anything alot when taking the straight option as is no change in direction so when I do it likely means right, regardless of what I say. It is easy to mistake understanding from body language and single verbal commands as actually understanding complex sentences.
I agree with the parts that says dont like loud noises like fireworks, one time on independence day we had left the door to the porch open while the fireworks were going on. whenever one would go off, my dog would run inside and hide under the table. from then on, we tried to make sure the dog was in a quiter room when there were fireworks so that her ears wouldnt get hurt from the loud noise
My dog’s breeder said if you ignore firework/thunder noises they’ll get out of the habit and treat it like the other background noises and it worked for my dog
One 4th of July our dog got scared and ran away and was lost for hours.. All my kids were crying and devastated luckily we found her in a culvert about a 1/2 mile from our house.. She definetely goes in the basement now on the 4th
Dogs can learn and understand up to 200-something words. They can't speak, but they do understand the meaning of some of the words we say. There's a reason they get happy when you say "walk" or "food" and why some get angry or run away when you say "bath". They know what it means.
Absolutely true. Have 2 GSDs and if we say, wanna treat or where’s your treats, to the laundry they go, (that’s where they are) if I say let’s go outside, Ill say front door or back door and they go to the right door. They know let’s go to the mailbox, and want dinner? So many other words and commands too.
Exactly, my dogs go mad hearing 'garden' 'walkies' and 'townage' (my boyfriend says 'townage is it?!?! To them before we go into the city centre lol) They also get excited hearing 'kitchen' Lmao sometimes they like to come to the kitchen and sniff the floor for any crumbs 🤣
@youtube commenter I saw a program about dogs (more than one actually, but whatever). And how is that any sillier than saying a dog doesn't have complex feelings? It's darned pack animals. They need complex feelings to function in a pack. Yet, people say this a lot too. (Maybe because it excuses them to do mean things to their animals?) Also, I've had dogs. They understand quite many words. Many experiments with "talking dog carpets" (or whatever they're called) have been made. The dogs can communicate pretty well for being an animal. You can also search yourself. Also, "up to 200 words" doesn't mean "every single dog knows 200 words". It means some understand way less, but smarter ones can get that many. (Just in case you don't English very well). Dogs have the same level of intelligence as 2-3 year old humans. (They understand about 200 words). Also: "As for language, the average dog can learn 165 words, including signals, and the “super dogs” (those in the top 20 percent of dog intelligence) can learn 250 words, Coren says." So, instead of questioning something you know nothing about, how about educating yourself?
@youtube commenter It's called testing. And science. It's not exactly news. You can find it for yourself. Don't take my word for it. But you're basically saying that any knowledge is silly then? How do we know anything? How do we know how many species there are on earth? How do we know how our brains work? How do we know how many words an average adult human knows? How do we know crows are intelligent? Science, and testing. It's not like it's magic. Besides, you're equally much a silly internet person. You're not special. ;)
Trauma. We had a black lab and there was a Severe storm one time and we had to hunker in the basement, but it has an outdoor stairway and we dragged him down there one time because we had to and he did NOT want to go down there, so you'd never ever get him to go down there. Other animals we'd worry about leaving the cellar door open and them getting in to something down there but not him lol. He wouldn't go within 10feet of the opening.

My dog loves me kissing her snoot she leans in for me to kiss her or looks up for me to kiss her and will do a few times in a row this occurs daily especially in morning and bedtime
Keep in mind this is all general stuff about dogs. Some dogs are smarter than others and have different personalities. Mine loves getting in your face and getting her head scratched. I loved reading everyone’s comments and how much they enjoy their doggies too.
I think things like kissing a dogs face really does depend on the dog. My dog at times likes face kisses and will shove her face into yours so you can shower her with affection but other times she pulls away. It's so important to get to know the dog first and read their body language. When my dog was a puppy she almost broke my nose on several occasions from shoving her face into mine during snuggle time.
My dog doesn't kiss, but he will give puppy hugs (my term, not his lol) all day long. He will come up and put his head in my arm until I give him puppy hugs and a back rub. It's freaking adorable!
Dogs, like people are individuals. I know someone who was so happy to see a dog one time, they bent down to kiss the dog, whom they had never met, and the dog bit her on the face. We have two Frenchies and a Scottie that are the kissiest dogs we've ever known. It really depends, I think, on if they see you as a leader of their pack, because that is their family.
I’ve have met many dogs who will lean their face into a kiss when not grabbed and forced into it. One of my dogs actually enjoyed being pet and kissed on the head and face
@UCOboJwA2AyPsvg4LSd231Kg oh jeez I've had a few uncomfortable situations when I tried to give my dogs a kiss and they quite LITERALLY put their tongue in my fucking mouth 0_o Tha kfully my dogs are all small so tongues aren't too gross (I'd have cried if my staffie had done that, he was a big stinky slobbery mofo lmao )
i have some naighbers that own 2 dogs and everytime they bark they yell at them and they smoke alot the other day i saw her smoking and her dog looked a little sick. i am concernd about them but i hope there ok!
My dog is OBSESSED with kisses on her face, she loves getting a pet on the head, and she absolutely LOVES when we scratch under her ears! Altho other dogs HATE these things so it really depends on the dog!😊 And thx for this video I learned a lot of things!❤🐶 And we all love our dogos
I disagree with the final part of dogs "not feeling shame" or "not knowing they done something wrong". There were plenty of times where I did arrive my home, acted normally as I would always do, and found my dog hiding on his bed or avoiding being too happy on my arrival. I didn't even knew what was up, got a little confused, and only after I did find poop or piss made in wrong places, or some stuff broken.
Totally agree with you. I have two dogs and can tell which one did what by the way they act. If the dogs were just reacting to how I was acting then both would react "guilty", however only the one who is guilty acts guilty.
Exactly what I was going to say. You can come home, not know anything is wrong at all, and the dog is already tucking their tail between their legs and you're like? Wait, did something happen?
My dog knows when she has done something wrong when I came home she was hiding from me instead of meeting me at the door I then found out the garbage was torn and she was hiding under the couch
He doesn't poop. He usually has found something to eat somewhere. I can tell by his face as soon as I walk in the door. I just go to the usual hiding places and yup. Before I can say anything - he has already "grounded" himself. Don't even know what to do. Never had a dog before. So weird. He is so weird. Eats me out of house and home but he is so darned cute. And he is so afraid of loud noises (daughter got as a stray off the street, lots of trauma) I just hate yelling at him so I just let him stay in his self-imposed exile for a bit. SMH.
Saddly some of these are impossible to avoid for me and my family. Like the one that says that I should talk to my dog in a calming voice, my dog likes to go onto the front deck and guard the house. But if we just let him keep on barking than people message us and complain about how loud he is and when he's barking and I try to tell him to stop in a calming voice he can't here me so I have to talk loudly. And my dog doesn't mind a kiss
Yep. My dog got into the trash once. When I came home, he was hiding from me, and I knew something was up before I even found the trash all over the floor.
Dogs don't have human morality, and don't understand why you're yelling at them for some piece of junk (in their eyes) they knocked over. They just get sad you're yelling at them
@@archyneverpicked I never yell at or hit my dog. Some of my human associates used to get mad at me for not whipping my dog for being a dog. But they can sense your surprise and disappointment when they do something wrong, regardless of your reaction. This is what my dog was reacting to. When I saw what he had done, after the initial shock of the trash being on the floor, I gave him love, because I had missed him while I was away.
7:04 Badly timed walks are fixed with protective dog footwear! It took a little bit for my dog to get used to them, but like the video says treats, rewards, and a routine helps them get used to them!! Now we can take on any weather on and terrain!
My dog is walked regularly at regular intervals as we work and school, but this big bougie bear will NOT go out in the rain. He will put his paw out, feel it and turn right back round 😆
I can really relate to this because every time I watch a horror movie with my baby dog She always goes underneath the covers and thanks for all of this stuff I’m gonna try as much as I can to subscribe
My dog just sleeps and gets really pissed when a jumpscare wakes her up. She looks so much more pissed than scared. I think it is mostly because I am really hard to scare. So my fear cannot project very well to my dog if I am hard to scare
I’ve owned rotties for 30 yrs. they all seem to Love having their heads and cheeks rubbed. They always use their heads to rub on us and guests until you pet them. Of course with Any dog you let them let you know how comfortable they are
I have not once ever scolded my dog for using the bathroom in the house, because she's only done it when she was sick or if I was away too long at work. Every time she had the "guilty" body language. Dogs do have complex thoughts and feelings.
I don't smack or hit my dog when they do that, but I let them know they did something wrong, and make sure they know that pooping in the house is not okay. I am still trying to train my dog to let me know she has to go outside.
I have a 2 year old goldendoodle and we've had him since he was 8 weeks. He absolutely loves kiss on his head and nose and liked to be massaged on his head and booty. He's a spoiled puppy and when we stop kissing/petting/rubbing him, he paws us to continue!
@@andersnielsen6044 Ah yes because my dog rapidly wagging his tail in a circle similar to a helicopter and having zoomies all throughout my house definitely means he hates it. You're barking up the wrong tree. As someone who volunteers at an dog shelter and regularly spends time with dogs other than my own, I think I'm experienced enough to know when my actions are pleasurable to a dog and when I'm making them anxious or uncomfortable. Don't try and tell me what my baby likes and what he dislikes. Now if you'll excuse me, my doggo is waiting for me to give him booty rubs.
Love and agree with all of these!!❤️🤩 Especially helpful for a first time doggo parent! I’ve already sent it to a few friends who got their first doggy! All that being said: 11:26 - SCENT!! Not “sent”! My goodness, who edits your videos?? Perhaps find someone who can spell.
@@sarahbartlett1196 That is literally just his accent. You cannot scold him for saying Snoot and not Snout. It depends from where he is from and how he was taught.
He said dogs don't understand complex emotions, not dog have physical traits associated with these emotions. All the emotions you list fall into the natural emotion category (if jealousy is roughly same as envy). They are core to evolutionary success. Guilt is described as a self conscious emotion and requires reflection on a past action and empathy to understand how this may have affected others. Dogs don't have complex enough neuron networks to do this. This doesn't mean they won't react to something they have done in a way we associate with guilt. It is more likely fear, or reaction to your body language.
I also have to bathe my Chinese Crested Freya once a week to prevent another skin infection (as suggested by her vet the last time she got a skin infection). Cresteds have skin that can get clogged by dirt and can cause infections for some dogs. Freya also gets very oily and itchy if I don't bathe her enough. Some dogs require different care.
One of my dogs absolutely loves wearing his jumper in winter, gets excited when I show it to him and he rushes to push his head through the neck hole....my other dog not so much.
Thanks for educating the public. I try and end up in fights with people. All of what u said is common courteousy. People can be idiots at times and we think we have a right to treat animal like crap.
My brother had a dog who rolled in stinky stuff every time he went out. If we bathed him in really strongly scented shampoo, he didn't do it as long as the scent lasted. We bathed him a lot!
My dog would like to add, starting a fire in the fireplace. My dog hates the start up period...he runs and hides until all the popping and crackling stops. Hes all about laying in front of it when its settled and warm. LOL
Giving him a bath every month is not technically "too much" That is how often you should normally give your dog a bath. If you wait too long to give him a bath, he can develop flees. And once those are on your dog, they are a pain in the ass to get rid of. Washing your dog every WEEK is too much In some cases, you can wash your dog extra, like if your dog is an anxiety dog and when she gets scared she tucks her tail under her butt It does not help mu ch that she also has anxiety poop That is fun to clean (Based on a true story)
I remember once when we were watching the fireworks and our dog hid under the bed to feel safe, after that day, we always make her a comfy place in the basement so the noise wont bother her toi much
Suggestions for letting them explore? They seem to like to eat about anything, so my fear is they're going to eat something they shouldn't during exploration.
Keep them on a leash and under supervision. I have a spray bottle to deter mine from eating trash he finds on the street, but usually telling him no and a tug wills top him. You have an enclosed lawn just do a walk around to see if there is anything the dog shouldn't have.
We don't have dogs but when one of our cats was a baby, we were watching Van Helsing and when the wolves started howling, he started crying harder than any cat I had ever heard. We stopped watching the movie and didn't watch it for a few years when he was older and used to loud noises coming out of the TV.
Number 23, even if it may seem a bit aggressive, I’ve learned that 1-it’s not but also 2-if another dog corrects certain behaviors especially hyper puppies, they’re setting boundaries and limits. I always believe that the most effective way a dog will learn is from another dog. As for the smell, I can’t tell you how many articles of clothing my little ones grab and haul tush away from me lol, little thief’s. I went out and purchased an actual pair of slippers years ago but they still went for my ratty old ones. Even though afterwards I wore the new ones for a little bit, they much preferred the tattered very well worn ones.
As someone who had an aggressive dog, trust me that if the dogs are fighting you will know. It's honestly terrifying and nothing like their play wrestling.
yes, they growl and bite eachother. my friend has a pomeranian and so do i and they always fight when thg. my friends dog even lost a tooth from fighting
@@Gl3aming yeah, my dog dog super bloodied up a few times. They're big dogs, so they're fighting included one locking onto the scruff of his neck and scratching, and the other biting at his legs. There was a specific cacophony of noise that would happen every time, including a whole lot of growling and barks way higher pitch than usual.
We did try to put a collar on him until he did struggle to pant then we loosened it a bit but he slipped out of it and ran away once so we then put a harness on him and he is now comfortable when walking or going somewhere! He love it and when we aren't home we come home to him laying on his harness 🥰😂
Can't say I agree with the wrestling match tip. My dogs don't stop. Even if they start out playing, before too long they have teeth out, hair up and somebody's about to get hurt.
Dogs can feel emotion, my dog was chased with a hose as a pup and now hates water, Evey time I pull the hose out he runs away and crys, I call him back and he will sit while I pet him but as soon as i move he runs again, it's a process but he his becoming less reactive, he is also learning to sit on the swing we have in our back yard (he didn't like it because it moved) but with a little encouragement and treats he gets up without an issue for a good ol' cuddle
What am I talking about, I was watching clean freak 0: 50 , whats the name of the place where 2 people , having showers . I just wondering it may look so beautiful , I really wanted to know , if there is any beaches?
First of all, there was two number twos. Another, I went on a vacation and left my dog with my friend. The people next door were doing some drilling and construction stuff, and my dog ran away. Luckily, he had his collar on. I got a call and they told me "If you don't want the dog, I'll keep it." I told him I wanted it and laughed. He told me how beautiful my dogs eyes were! Me, too has never seen a dog with such beautiful eyes. My dogs name was Tazzie
"Being rushed at potty time"... we tell our dog "bathroom" and he goes pretty much immediately. Especially if he knows we're going for a car ride or something else he's excited about.
I just consider my dog's favorite poles & trees to sniff & tinkle on to be akin to NextDoor. He finds out the important info & leaves his updated status. I suspect they know an awful lot more than we think by scent, as far as goings on in the neighborhood.
When I give my dog a hug while he’s sitting up, he lifts his paw on my shoulder to hug back. He started doing that on his own and it’s the cutest thing ever!
That’s so cute

As a man that ended up on the streets after an accident with my dog. I went through hell to keep my dog. A dog having one owner his/her whole life is extremely important. Getting a dog should have an unbreakable commitment. The best thing about a dog is loyalty and that's what I give all my animals. Till death do us part. Bitter sweet endings.
i'm gonna pat myself on the back for sticking to my commitment to my dog through her puppyhood. i'd guess that many would not have, being that she was an absolute nightmare.

Dogs are so amazing, they give us their all, and all for so little in return. The unconditional love, trust, affection, loyalty, prote tion and all the laughter they give us.
Dogs are a lot more complex creatures as we give them credit for.
This does not only apply to dogs, but a range of animals.
that's because he knew what your reaction would be, it wasn't guilt, he just knew what was about to come
Yeah my dog had diarrhoea and couldn’t hold it and she ran into the bathroom and was super uncomfortable afterwards because she knows that she shouldn’t do it. Idk if it was guilt or if she was ashamed.
5:51 I agree not rushing them, but by God when your dog has been spinning in circles for 50 minutes at 2AM you're kinda tired of waiting.
True
So actually I think dogs not liking belly rubs is actually for just particular dogs, because I’ve been around dogs my entire life and every single one, including the first one I’ve had and the one I have now, all love belly rubs
aww mine too
I’m pretty sure unlesss dogs are in pain on there belly’s all fo them love belly rubs

My dog actually does understand "complex" phrases. If I tell him "bed" he does nothing. If I tell him "sleep" he does nothing, but when I say, "go to bed" or "go to sleep", he gets up and goes to the bedroom and lays on his bed in the closet.
Haha same!
@@vanshikachhabra217 Mine knows "Bedtime, not playtime". If it's late and he wants to play I'll fuss him then tell him the phrase and he takes himself off to the couch.
Same with my dogs , I can say a thing in ' complex ' and very different sentences and they know excately
what I tell them . Also they do in 4 different languages too . Im from Denmark and my dogs they understand
Danish , English , Chinese and Tagalog ( Philippino languages ) . I Lived in China in many years and now
in philippines so I have used all languages just as normal and they simply just understand .
I can even ' mix ' a sentence and say something half in Danish and ( example ) finish in chinese and they
fully understand it , they even try to ' talk / reply' back by using sounds to reply .
Sometimes they can complain if they want something and I say no then they start ' discussing ' with talk
like noises and when I for example repeat ' I told it is a no ' they really argue , it is actually funny .
Dogs are more clever than many people think / know .
I think it depends on the breed
Your dog knows *go*
Thanks for the advice, i get to have a pet when im 14 and planning on getting a dog.
My dog learned how to open the sliding door herself so now I have to lock it.
next the dog is gonna learn to pick locks
My dog likes to walk backwards instead of turning around
One of mine does that with windows if he's left at home alone. We tried locking the windows and he broke one getting out to look for us.
I mean, depends what dog you have. My dog keeps running into the wall, then when she notices I was looking, she gives me that look that says, "You saw nothing..." and runs off
My dog fully did a running jump over a baby gate to chase my dad going to work.
Kill the dogs and eat them!

I had to slow her down and learn to sniff around.
lol, my dog is the opposite, he attacks the vacuum cleaner. all dogs are unique.
@@meatmaster8636 True, they all have their own character.
Thank you. You really helped me with my puppy.
I love having a fenced in backyard. Take all the time you want Buddy!😂
Exactly.
Oh well.
❤️❤️🥰🥰 that is so sweet
The only one I have beef with is that last one. Dogs are way more complex than we give them credit for. Most of the time, my pups look guilty when they did something wrong BEFORE I find it. They won't let me say hello or play. Thats when I know to look for the bathroom accident or destroyed belonging. Plus, the whole "kissing your dog`s face gives them anxiety" is very much case by case. I have had and worked with (vet tech and pet hotels) many pups that lean in and initiate face kisses
Same
Look guilty when they did something wrong? Can you put that into English now please? I don't understand American.
That not actual guilt. Thats submission.
Same for my dog, when we get home and say hi and stuff, she is trying to hide or won't go upstairs, so we go and look for something

And all that for the fake China flu. You are probably still alive. Good for u.
that's absolutely awful. Can't believe people fell for the bs, that your dog would have to suffer as well for some nonsense smh.
Having lived with various dogs for decades, I agree with all of this. Excellent list!

Yea. Dogs can feel guilt, that is misinformation given in this video.
@@PersonianOld Yeah you know better then the scientist.
Can I ask, which dog ( breed) is the alpha ?
they all like chimken. Thats universal
No they aren't, they are basically all the same. All dogs are vicious unless raised as a puppy by humans. All dogs will try and kill and eat you if you starve them
My dog just understands whole sentences…he does. Really. Tested it several times. He just does. Even if we are not addressing him directly.
Mine the same
so you have said "this is a tennis ball", "this is a toy duck", "see this basket here?"...."I am going to put both the tennis ball and the duck at the other side of the room and I want you to take only the duck and put it in the basket"?
It depends on the breed, really
To them before we go into the city centre lol)
They also get excited hearing 'kitchen' Lmao sometimes they like to come to the kitchen and sniff the floor for any crumbs 🤣
When I tell my mini schnauzer “bath time” he goes 🏃♂️ ✌🏾 lol
You're not special. ;)
Great information ℹ️

Yes. I totally agree with this
every dog is different...absolutely.
I agree. My dog loves licking people's faces. I unfortunately do not like it at all.
@@arthurjackson7746 and just like people, they don't want someone they don't know all up in their face!😁
@@arthurjackson7746 loved how you explained that
I’ve have met many dogs who will lean their face into a kiss when not grabbed and forced into it. One of my dogs actually enjoyed being pet and kissed on the head and face
Yes, my dog leans in for the kiss … actually have to tell him .. woah slow down buddy we are men ! Lol cause he will try to take it to next base
@UCOboJwA2AyPsvg4LSd231Kg oh jeez I've had a few uncomfortable situations when I tried to give my dogs a kiss and they quite LITERALLY put their tongue in my fucking mouth 0_o
Tha kfully my dogs are all small so tongues aren't too gross (I'd have cried if my staffie had done that, he was a big stinky slobbery mofo lmao )
Yep. Really depends on the breed
@Rick Warren some dogs just like attention. Some don’t. It’s all up to the dogs personality
i have some naighbers that own 2 dogs and everytime they bark they yell at them and they smoke alot the other day i saw her smoking and her dog looked a little sick. i am concernd about them but i hope there ok!
My dog is OBSESSED with kisses on her face, she loves getting a pet on the head, and she absolutely LOVES when we scratch under her ears!
Altho other dogs HATE these things so it really depends on the dog!😊
And thx for this video I learned a lot of things!❤🐶
And we all love our dogos
Yes. My dog knows when he did something wrong. Not that I ever do much about it.
Dogs definitely can feel guilt and know when they have done wrong. That's selling their intelligence short
Yep. My dog got into the trash once. When I came home, he was hiding from me, and I knew something was up before I even found the trash all over the floor.
@@itsnotthesamething Maybe he knew you were going to be mad and just didn't want to get yelled at. That's not guilt.
Dogs dont understand what they did wrong and if they look guilty its them being sad and confused
Chief will flat out say "I don't want to wear it" when I tell him he has to wear his vest to go outside. I got it on video one day!
This really helped me thank you so much 😊
7:04 Badly timed walks are fixed with protective dog footwear!
It would be better if you stop watching horror movies and started living in the real world!
I’ve owned rotties for 30 yrs. they all seem to Love having their heads and cheeks rubbed. They always use their heads to rub on us and guests until you pet them. Of course with Any dog you let them let you know how comfortable they are
DOG'S ARE ABSOLUTE PROOF OF GOD SHOWING OFF ❣️❣️❣️
I have not once ever scolded my dog for using the bathroom in the house, because she's only done it when she was sick or if I was away too long at work. Every time she had the "guilty" body language. Dogs do have complex thoughts and feelings.
yeah ok
I don't smack or hit my dog when they do that, but I let them know they did something wrong, and make sure they know that pooping in the house is not okay.
I am still trying to train my dog to let me know she has to go outside.
I have a 2 year old goldendoodle and we've had him since he was 8 weeks. He absolutely loves kiss on his head and nose and liked to be massaged on his head and booty. He's a spoiled puppy and when we stop kissing/petting/rubbing him, he paws us to continue!
One of my childhood dogs loved having the base of his tail scratched.
No he does not. But he accepts it! Why are so many people trying to project their own feelings into their dog/pets?
@@Nidrizzle If you were experienced you would not try to project your own feelings into your dog.
@@Nidrizzle There is a huge difference in what a dog likes and what it accepts!
Dogs also dislike people blowing in their face as this can really fustrate them and they are more likely to snap at you if you do so.
I LOVE DOGS 🐶❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for educating folks on these issues😊
Love and agree with all of these!!❤️🤩 Especially helpful for a first time doggo parent! I’ve already sent it to a few friends who got their first doggy!
All that being said: 11:26 - SCENT!! Not “sent”! My goodness, who edits your videos?? Perhaps find someone who can spell.
You seem more like a cat lady
@@sarahbartlett1196 That is literally just his accent. You cannot scold him for saying Snoot and not Snout. It depends from where he is from and how he was taught.
Humans make mistakes. It happens. One small letter missing from a word through the whole video is not enough to fire the editor
Our dogs turns around for belly rubs everytime they see me or my family and they are so cute
No complex emotions? I thought dogs could feel jalousy, hate and love. So why not guilt?
He said dogs don't understand complex emotions, not dog have physical traits associated with these emotions. All the emotions you list fall into the natural emotion category (if jealousy is roughly same as envy). They are core to evolutionary success. Guilt is described as a self conscious emotion and requires reflection on a past action and empathy to understand how this may have affected others. Dogs don't have complex enough neuron networks to do this. This doesn't mean they won't react to something they have done in a way we associate with guilt. It is more likely fear, or reaction to your body language.
muzzles are the cutest part of dogs
I also have to bathe my Chinese Crested Freya once a week to prevent another skin infection (as suggested by her vet the last time she got a skin infection). Cresteds have skin that can get clogged by dirt and can cause infections for some dogs. Freya also gets very oily and itchy if I don't bathe her enough. Some dogs require different care.
🥰
Maybe you need to see a holistic vet 🐶
@@marshabowlin1757 it's a thing that can happen with the Breed, they often need to be bathed more than other breeds due to their lack of hair.
This is a great list of things dogs hate, I agree with them after 60 years of have a dog or dogs around me.
Hello how’s the weather going I hope you are enjoying yourself and happy Christmas 🎄 wishing you a happy new year 🎆.
Thanks for making this
I feel so bad for rushing my dogs on our walks when I'm tired
My brother had a dog who rolled in stinky stuff every time he went out. If we bathed him in really strongly scented shampoo, he didn't do it as long as the scent lasted. We bathed him a lot!
1:14 Is that why my dog always eats my dirty Underpants?
💀💀💀 HELP??
If my dog hates a "tight leash" it's totally under her control to stop that. As in QUIT PULLING! LOL
My dog would like to add, starting a fire in the fireplace. My dog hates the start up period...he runs and hides until all the popping and crackling stops. Hes all about laying in front of it when its settled and warm. LOL
I don't care if my dog doesn't like it. He rolls in the mud, I'm still going to give him a bath every month.
Giving him a bath every month is not technically "too much"
That is how often you should normally give your dog a bath. If you wait too long to give him a bath, he can develop flees. And once those are on your dog, they are a pain in the ass to get rid of.
Washing your dog every WEEK is too much
In some cases, you can wash your dog extra, like if your dog is an anxiety dog and when she gets scared she tucks her tail under her butt
It does not help mu
ch that she also has anxiety poop
That is fun to clean
(Based on a true story)
@heckjaw I am far over 4, so...
@Dawson Davis I didn't know that about hair. Does it feel different if you use shampoo and if you dont?
I remember once when we were watching the fireworks and our dog hid under the bed to feel safe, after that day, we always make her a comfy place in the basement so the noise wont bother her toi much
I luv your vids ♡♡ I love getting information on my dogs 😊😊 Thanks to you♡♡

Lol when he says “breaking up a wrestling match”… if I didn’t break up a wrestling match with my dog and a foster dog… my dog would have been DEAD!!!
Dogs explore their environment through sent? That is a Jaw Dropping Fact!
@@RealSaintB Thank you! Great idea.
We don't have dogs but when one of our cats was a baby, we were watching Van Helsing and when the wolves started howling, he started crying harder than any cat I had ever heard. We stopped watching the movie and didn't watch it for a few years when he was older and used to loud noises coming out of the TV.
Anyone who has owned a dog, knows for sure they can feel and express guilt and many other feelings. i call that last one bs frfr xD
They can’t express guilt dummy
You're not an animal biologist, you're just projecting human emotions onto an animal
I agree with you I think a few were bs
Pretty good information!!!
Very great information
BRILLIANT!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰❤️❤️
ocena 10 od 10, najjaci video
My dad's dog's old owner abused him, so he's scared of alot of things, he's also an old dog. I feel bad for him.
Can't say I agree with the wrestling match tip. My dogs don't stop. Even if they start out playing, before too long they have teeth out, hair up and somebody's about to get hurt.
I completely agree. Sometimes, playtime can quickly escalate to a dangerous situation.
Well I mean the vid did say only break them up if they're getting into a dangerous situation. Play fighting isn't inherently bad in of itself
🐶🤩😎LOVE THESE…GREAT GUIDELINES
My dog loves anything clean 😂 tbh she jumps in my clean clothing basket she sleeps better 🤣 Her little fur goes everywhere 😂
My dog just pees
No she jumps in to your clean basket to put her scent back in/on to it. ;)
This is a great video, thank you..
And I thought I was a GOOD dog owner!
Well my brother says shouting at them will help them listen and he says that because I use a calm voice on them.
Dogs don't know what they have done wrong? That's false. They know when they've done something wrong and will even express the guilt.
Exactly.
I just consider my dog's favorite poles & trees to sniff & tinkle on to be akin to NextDoor. He finds out the important info & leaves his updated status. I suspect they know an awful lot more than we think by scent, as far as goings on in the neighborhood.
