Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei (September 19, 1908~May 30, 1975) learned Seiunchin kata from Gōjū-ryū karate founder Miyagi Chōjun, (April 25, 1888~October 8, 1953).
Traditionally, Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei taught it as the second kata in Isshin-ryū karate.
The beginning of the Seiunchin kata is taught with tension and kikō (気功) dynamic breath control (Chi kung).
Seiunchin kata is known for the use of shiko dachi which in Isshin-ryū karate is called Seiunchin dachi. Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei modified the Isshin-ryū karate version of Seiunchin kata, so some of the applications or bunkai are not the same as Gōjū-ryū karate.

Amazing osu 🙏🏾
I trained under Jon Lee from Tuscaloosa Al..I so miss this.
So did I. Also attended a few of the seminars Advincula Master/sensei hosted. I recall him throwing Jon through a wall at the old shelton state when it was on skyland. Also, you can still take an isshin ryu focused class in a few ways in Tuscaloosa. Falcon One is the most immediate way. There may be some other emerging dojos that will be isshinryu first, but also teaches quite a bit more.

It would really be good to see how all the techniques are actually used, actually pressure tested.
Iain Abernethy probably has a good breakdown of several of these moves.
@Rob-lw1uw Thank you for the feedback!
Certainly, not the way we were taught back in ‘72. Especially, the first quarter. More breath control and dynamic tension.👎
