It was fascinating to see the changes in each version. Some of them sounded like cats, some of them had lackluster "power up" voices, others were virtually unplayable. Super cool!
I never knew that monsters from Golden Axe made their cameo attacking sometimes sneakily between the standard mobs.

GBA transformation are top notch! beside the slighly goofie design of the were-creatures.
How in the world did people even play on these systems with it running at like 5-10 fps??😮
Also the PS2 version makes it look extremely painful. It kinda reminds me of the werewolf transformation from Van Helsing

The PS2 version's are so extra lol. Actually, they remind me of how Animorphs described their transformations. The Master System, in contrast, between the dead eyes and screaming instead of roaring, just feel like a creepypasta.

I remember liking the transformations in the Arcade original, but only the wolf one is actually detailed. That's kinda disappointing.
Also, I'll never not be amused by C64 ports of more advanced games. Sometimes, that little breadbox could punch above its weight class; this wasn't one of those times.
The ZX Spectrum version looks dire! There's so much horrendous color clashing! I may not have grown up with the Speccy, (in case the way I spelled "color" didn't give it away, I'm American), but I can't help but love the little micro. And when a game is done on it right, well, again, this wasn't one of those times... The MSX version is even worse as it seems to be a lazy port when that computer had slightly better color capabilities and hardware sprites that just aren't used here.
And the Famicom version... It exists! Such tiny sprites, but what could've they done? Sure, larger have been done in Double Dragon for example, but that game had a limit of 4 enemies on screen to make for this, they couldn't do that for Altered Beast, I assume. At least they give you extra stages and transformations to go with them!

It’s not good with big sprites so they made everything out of BG tiles. Now the sprites are big but it’s choppy af

oye , feliz año... cuidao que hay algún comentario de 40g33k q se cree q esa chica angelical eres tu, XD XD,
buen video, éste juego nunca me pareció tan bueno como lo pintan, Golden AXE, para mi, le da 1000 vueltas, aunque eso de las transformaciones está wapo, pero matar a los boss sin transformacion era una locura.
en cuanto a los 8 bits, commodore muy feo, amstrad es un jeroglifico, y spectrum es digno de meterlo en la maquina ENIGMA que decodificaba mensajes cifrados de los nazis, menudos sprites nen.
Respecto a PS2, mira, te transformas y te da tiempo a ver todos los anuncios que echan en una peli de antena3, q es esto tio? Xd.
Respondiendo a la criaturita, pues aunque me gustan los felinos, me encanta volar, y por eso , me quedo con el Dragon.

Jajaja feliz año para ti también. A mí tampoco me gustó tanto como Golden Axe, de hecho ni siquiera me gustó demasiado. Un juego del montón en mi humilde opinión y que tuve únicamente porque lo regalaban con la Mega Drive... En cualquier caso, considero que es la mejor conversión. Sobre lo de las transformaciones en PS2, lo que pasa en realidad es que he cogido todas las cinemáticas y las he enganchado una detrás de la otra. Fallo mío. Ya añadiré un texto explicándolo bien.
Yo, si me quedo con una transformación, elijo UWH de PS2. Aún no sé qué narices es XDD, pero por lo visto puedes hacer un combo de 20 y tantos golpes que elimina casi cualquier bicho (no logré hacer la secuencia completa en el vídeo) y me fascina ese ataque especial a lo Jojo's Bizarre Adventure que invierte la gravedad.

Hard to understand you, but the footage does all the talking.
Amiga/ST are not on pair with arcade and consoles, obvious lack of colours and lower fps. DOS, using EGA graphics, is too obsolete for 1990. C64 is very decent and playable for a 8-bit port. CPC is stuttery rubbish and i cant believe it was a commercial release. ZX is much smoother but it looks like a dirty mosquito mash pulled over display. MSX combines worst of the worsts - slow as CPC and ugly as ZX.
You miss, in other games Amiga/ST can transformarte bad games into an very good games
