    The spurs didn’t get a superstar after losing to Miami they stuck together and won the next year in a beautiful way,,,

      Which will always piss me off about the Warriors because I bet that team would've came back to the Finals the next year after dealing with all of the trolling and the 3-1 jokes and utterly destroy the Cavs without KD.

    • @tonyruiz347

      They should've had a repeat. Miami wasn't the better team in the first series!

    • @tonyruiz347
      @tonyruiz347 4 года назад +14

      @Anastacio Calimag Jr Miami had a super team already and you still wanted Mike Miller? If it wernt for ray Allens three pointer they would've lost. Funny how that same team almost got swept, if it wernt for Wade's flop on Ginobili the year after. Even Dallas beat them the first year.😂 lebron is a good player but cant do it on its own.

    • @tonyruiz347

      Greg Garcia but weren't they hated for being boring at some point? Like I heard their offense was just give it to Timmy in the post and let him score every single possession.

    • @Mommysbigboi
      @Mommysbigboi 7 лет назад +21

      Itz Cryptecz bulls dynasty gave it to jordon and let him score? 2007 and 2015 postseason cavs let lebron score all their points? So what's the difference if san antonio had a big man doing the scoring and the team played defense, yeah the game was slow and controlled but fundamental basketball as a whole is awesome to see.

    • @politikz4695
      @politikz4695 7 лет назад +2

      Greg Garcia difference was that guards were usually more flashy while Duncan wasn't as flashy. Spurs had a reputation in the early 2000s as one of the most hated teams in the league

    One of the critical mistake Spurs made after 2014 was that it let go of Boris Diaw. He was part of the core of the Spurs's inimitable strength - passing ability.

    • @tyfrerhiug

      Rakisuta01 I agree and they try to build a team under Lamarcus, to succeed Timmy. No one thought Leonard is this great. Last few years spurs made some mistakes at free agency. Signing Old players for high price. Which is unlike spurs at it may cost Kawhi one championship.

    Bout time we start seeing more recognition for the Spurs 2014 team. It should be listed up there among the teams like the 86 Celtics, 96 Bulls, 84 Sixers and 87 Lakers

    • @mayoouran7711
      @mayoouran7711 7 лет назад +34

      Personally liked the 2015-2016 spurs team better, Aldridge was integrated beautifully and he wasn't exposed on defense cos 40 yr old Duncan was still so effective in the paint.
      Manu TP9 were aging but stll contributed. But the biggest factor (other than LaMarcus) was Kawhi's emergence as a superstar, dude lit the league cos he's so good both ways.
      2014 team was fantastic, but 2015-2016 could've won a chip any other year (OKC series was reallly close, and GSW was having a once in a lifetime season)

    • @theartofcompetition5965
      @theartofcompetition5965 7 лет назад +10

      i dont know about all that . but they were in the zone as one unit like i have never seen before. That was literally the finest basketball i have ever seen and the best passing i have ever seen, and the best display of teamwork i have ever seen. It was mostly just being in the zone. and you can tell that was the reason because the next year they tapered off quite a bit. it was because the year before they lost to the heat barely and it really really really stung them. there is like a whole documentary on it i seen before.

    • @theartofcompetition5965
      @theartofcompetition5965 7 лет назад +10

      no way dude. 2014 spurs were fucking in the zone. sure 2015-16 team was more talented but played worse.

      that ball movement in 2014 was so fucking sick.i was watching the 2011 mavericks finals and theirs was very similar. this is how less talented teams beat more talented teams. ball movement and being in the zone focus.

      as a side note. when people talk about lebron losing to the spurs this year. i find it ridiculous. when they blame lebron for losing to this spurs team in 2014. it kind of illustrates where a lot of people get misguided when having the goat conversation. a lot of people consider wins and losses when having the goat conversation and its so ridiculous. this is a team sport. the difference between lebron, or jordan etc is so minuscule. and the 2014 spurs team shows you how much more relevant the team you play on and the competition you face is. In my opinion duncan should be in the goat conversation. if the difference between kobe , lebron, and jordan is miniscule than (duncans leadership) being able to make all the other 12 players on your team minuscule better. to keep it simple look at it like this. kobe avg 27 points per game, tim duncan 23. a difference of 4 points. but duncan makes everyone on his team score 2 extra points where kobes teamates only score 1 extra point ( if that he was a poor leader imo) then thats +12 points to kobes 27 for a total of 39 and plus 24 to duncans 23 for a total of 45

    I think Tiago Splitter was very underrated part of that Spurs team. He was a good rebounder , paint presence and could pass just as well as Bogut when he was on the W's.

      Splitter was a huge part of the 2014 championship run I agree he's very underrated. He was a terrible rebounder, however. He was an incredible defender, great hands and great passer (way better than Bogut), was crafty around the rim, and was exceptional on the PnR.

    Let's face it this is the best team the NBA has ever seen. The NBA promotes superstars like Jordan and Lebron as they rake in revenue from clothing and shoes (like a lot of $$$) The spurs
    didn't do that for them so they are not mentioned and promoted quite as much. This team won the finals by 70 points...that's 70 point differential! ... Before that they beat Portland by 67 and Oklahoma City(with Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka and Adams by a point differential of 63. This is beyond amazing. These point differences tell the story of this team more than regular stats.

    This is what the Spurs need to go back to, this is what has made them championship contenders and the most successful organization of any sport for the last 20 years straight. I hope seeing how dismantled they became when Kawhi went down in game one of the WCF against the Warriors was a wake up call on how they went from the system to a one man team. I have watched the Spurs for decades and have never seen it where if one man goes down then so does the whole team, not even with the big 3 at their prime. I really hope they go back to this kind of basketball, no more just relying in one man to carry them. That's not the Spurs I know, even with the greatest power forward to play the game in Tim Duncan.

    • @aurelienfroment3578
      @aurelienfroment3578 4 года назад +2

      @Chris Williams The thing is that in a way they did something never seen before...
      If we speak of iconic teams in NBA history :
      There was the 60s Celtics which were dominant as hell.
      There was the Showtime from the Lakers and their superstars leaded by Magic.
      The 80s Celtics were strong as hell being able to attack defend against any given team and/or superstar.
      There was the 94 Knicks which were (in my opinion) one of the greatest defense ever created.
      The Bulls during the second three peat were the same as the 80s Celtics : dominant in offense, strong in defense, well balanced between the two sides etc...
      The lakers of early 2000 decade were dominant, mostly thanks to Shaq inside and the young Kobe.
      The Heat of early 2010 were incredible through their capacity of playing high quality and clever defense and good offense through their superstars.
      The Warriors of 2016 (for the regular season) and 2017 were so dominant, defensively and offensively with their ability to play small ball, shoot 3s consistently etc...
      But the 2014 Spurs were the "first" time in history we saw a team being so selfless, able to create better chance of shoots each and every possession only by moving the ball. Whenever it was hard, the previously cited teams would get the ball to their go-to guy and go away (KAJ, Bird or Parish, MJ, Kobe or Shaq, Lebron or Wade, KD or Steph etc...). So in a way, it was the first ever team to play full team-basketball and at a high level or consistency and IQ.
      So I understand why some people say they are the best "team" since all great teams from history are addition of great players without real heart (i'm not saying Duncan, Ginobili, Parker or Kawhi are not great players ^^).
      PS : Celtics 88 are not the best Celtics team in my eyes, I prefer the 86 one :)

    Yeah they had Duncan, Ginobili, Parker and pop during this period, but Boris Diaw role on the team during this period i think is underrated. He could pass and make plays better than a lot point guards in the league at the time, his natural game was this pass, move, cut style.

    One of the many spurs teams that nobody wants to admit would destroy their favorite player because any team with one star playing well will not beat them and the fact that they aren’t even trying to score they are trying to find an open man...they have practice sessions doing that. They focus on extra passing so you collapse the defense and kick it out. Jordan and Kobe can wish they had teammates that made them so good. These dudes drew the defense by going hard at their matchup and if help came they kicked it and they ended up open. The only teams that can beat these spurs are celtic and piston teams because they would push them around and they had length to reach...the pistons would just hit them and rattle them but everyone else in history would have a hard time winning a modern era series against any of the spurs championship rosters because they were all a threat and you leave one open for a few moments and he goes off and now you try to double him but he kicks it out now someone else is on fire lol it’s devastating
