Totally agree with what's going on here...I find myself going for the adios 7 for routine stuff...it does get loaded up with pebbles 😀 all the same size 😀
The sen 8 is a great build and I find myself saving it as to not put miles on it

Based on my love of the Adios 6, I picked up version 7 on a great discount. I think you're quite right in your assessment-it's a nice advancement for tempo/interval runs, but definitely a step back in terms of being useful as a daily. I'll be keeping the 6 in rotation for that purpose.

Yes more a refined pace shoe though I find it makes me run too quick on daily stuff.

Agree. That’s why I picked up four more pairs of Adios 6 heavily discounted. That’s my daily shoe sorted for the foreseeable.

I have five pairs; three EU size 41 1/3 and two size 42. The smaller pairs are for runs 15k or less and I size up a bit when going longer as to avoid any friction around the toes. I do all my running in the 6’s now. All time classic and good looking too. Fav color is the white/real teal. The only thing it’s not great for is walking.

My rankings (based on my own experience)
    #1 Prime X = A+
    #2 Adios Pro 2 = A
    #3 Boston 9 = A-
#4 Adios 6 = C- (50k might not be enough to break the Lightstrike)
    #5 Ultraboost 20 = D (didn't buy to run in them tho)

Adidas launched the Boston 11 world wide in the same week but the Adios 7 ,still didn't appear in the Adidas stores in Brazil. I got mad about that and tired of waiting and ended getting the Puma Velovity Nitro 2 in a very beautiful blue colorway. It is different and less stable then my old Adios 6 but it is also very nimble and more comfortable.

Hey Ed! Back home from the long trip to Asia and I was ready to splurge as I was about to return but the Prime X Strung in my size was sold out and remains unavailable currently.☹Oh well, that's how it goes. But I did add the Adios Pro 3 (AP3) and Takumi Sen 8 (TS8) and I fully agree with your assessments. The TS8 has rocketed up my chart of running shoes collection as my number one at the moment and the AP3 will need more break-in time and miles as it felt rather stiff and less than comfortable initially, but it's started to grow on me with each run.
Putting on the TS8 really does feel like getting into a high-powered sports car and, once you get going, you feel like you're flying with almost no effort at all. Curious how the TS8 fits so well immediately with step in despite its narrow profile while the AP3 seems to need a lot of fidgeting with the lacing to get the upper to conform around your feet. Like you, I still have high hopes for the AP3 to develop into a nice long-distance workhorse but it seems to lack the inherent magic of the TS8.
This experience with the TS8 has me even more excited about the Prime X Strung (PXS) which I'm eagerly waiting for. Heck, I'm checking my email constantly for the notification that the PXS in my size has become available from adidas, but I get the sense it won't be anytime soon after they sold out the first batch on their site. I don't expect the PXS to be just a high-stacked version of the TS8 but a shoe with its own distinct character, feel, and ride. Will get it eventually! Thanks for the great content!

I’m a big fan of the three stripes, and agree with your detailed analysis Ed. The Boston 10 is an odd one. I don’t love it, but have steadily racked the mileage up over time. TS8 and AAP2 are an ‘A’ for me 👍🏻

How would you compare the SL with the Adios 7? Any reason to own the Adios 7 and Takumi Sen 8?
BTW, I found the sizing on the Prime X to be way off...with what is normally a perfect fit in other brands, in the Prime X, it looks like my foot is wearing a shower cap and a half size up which is my comfort zone, my foot has gone camping (in a tent). Pro 2 is similar fitted. What gives?

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  Год назад +1

The SL is not a good shoe. The Adios 7 and sen are superb. No need for the SL. Remember the primex is a long distance shoe. Some extras space is good for swollen feet.

The Prime X Strung is the shoe that got me back into Adidas. I’ve found that now I’ve done 100+km in mine that the initial instability has largely gone away. That could be that I’ve adapted to the shoe or I’ve just stopped noticing it but either way I love the shoe. I thought I’d be seeking out some Pro 3s next but maybe I’ll give the Takumi a try instead

    EDD, great review.
I'm quite enjoying my Prime X Strung. Looking forward to the Tekumi Sen 8...... Just one fly in the ointment.....
Adidas has yet to refund the first
pair of Prime X Strung I sent back.
(only 'cause they were too big)
Adidas helpline is very nice, very professional. They said refunds take 21 business days. Which means November 9th for me.
I'm not worried about it. However,...
Adidas is not doing me nor themselves any favor by dragging this out. Really a shame.
    Cheers

Once I understood the discount policy/outlet availability of Adidas shoes, I become more and more addicted to the superb fit, unbeatable traction and overall quality. Back from my older years (been running for more than half a century), when the choice was: Adidas or Puma ?, aside from national brands.
While not yet fully satisfied by lackluster performance by Boston 11, I found Takumi Sen 8 being the absolute best shoe I ever owned.

I'm doing most of my training on the Adios Pro 2, however, after 300km, I'm considering a new pair for the marathon, I'm between the Pro 3 and the Prime X, I tried the Alphafly, unfortunately, it's too narrow for my foot and I returned it, also considering the new Saucony Pro. thanks again

Thanks Edd. I am mainly a treadmill trainer at the minute with major achilles tendonitus. I think it came about while on holiday in Italy and first major road run. 15k and cained it. I'm 52 and was using Asics Magic Speed. Which were OK for the treadmill, but has been reported they do tend to roll inside for me which can cause injury. Just purchased some
adidas Mens Adizero Adios Pro 2.0 for 119 yoyos which I think is a good deal based on other shoe prices. Fingers crossed.

I am missing a real modern daily trainer in the current adidas lineup. The emphasis is on modern, so all the heavy boost models like the solar boost or whatever are not an option for me there. The adios is great, but not sure if on long term I will stick to this as daily trainer. And the Prime X is simply much to expensive for that category. If you watch current recommendations on the best daily trainers of 2022 here on the different youtube channels, you never find any adidas in it. @@rvmz11 The Ultraboost is very comfortable underfoot, the Boost foam is quite resilient too. The problem that I found with the shoe is that it has a kind of bootie style opening and if you have a high bridge to your foot, as I do, it can get really painful. So just be careful when you try them on.

Here’s an idea; what about a list of good looking running shoes that don’t look like running shoes? Sounds crazy but I’m sure we’ve all thought ‘I’ll run to the pub’ but been a little bit apprehensive about rocking up in our favourite carbon plated zoom zooms. Surely there’s a daily or easy run trainer that makes you fly (but at a moderate pace) and makes you look fly. Love your work as always
