I'm not sure what marine operations those Roman legions performed but I'd like to learn.

      I agree with what you say to some extent but the U.K. has not completely destroyed its naval shipbuilding capability but has significantly reduced its capability due to lack of investment and making skilled shipbuilders in the past redundant because its cheaper to build elsewhere. BAE Systems and Babcock still build great naval ships in the U.K. like, the type 26/31 and don’t forget the two large aircraft carriers and Britains nuclear submarines. Including the new Dreadnought class. More ships are in the pipeline as well, including the type 83 which is a large naval ship. The problem for the U.K., there are a lot of old shipyards left disused around the country which could be brought back into service if the money is there to reinvest in new infrastructure and train up more skilled jobs to build them. It will be a gradual rise for the Royal Navy instead of a heroic rise to former glory.

      @marcsetmais7598 6 месяцев назад

      It needs more than looks alone… Besides that France has enough capabilities to build amphibious ships.
      It is interesting to see if France chooses for smaller amphibious ships, like the UK and The Netherlands. My point of view is that diversity would be the best, with only small amphibious ships one loses capability. Big powers seem to stick to bigger amphibious ships and even smaller countries who never used to have them buy them (Egypt, Turkey).

    • @tonyhawk94
      @tonyhawk94 6 месяцев назад

      @@marcsetmais7598 Yes of course looks isn't everything, it is just a fantasy haha. I don't think there's a need for that in the French navy, the 3 LHD handle the amphibious needs.

The person who destroyed the Dutch military by huge cuts, never met the 2% norm and never served in the military to get NATO SG would be a total disgrace. Can there still be made a difference between ''underwater-priority'' and ''air defence priority'' ?
    Every time, our Navies (the German Navy as well is cooperating with the Netherlands) make this difference, I ask myself:
    Can our vessels make a choice out at sea, as if they were sitting at a green table, smoking cigars and deciding: ''This is not our enemy, because he is attacking underwater....''? Of course I exaggerated this example, but the drones will be everywhere in the future - so every Frigate or Corvette, the Tank-Vessel shown here... They ALL must be capable for air defense AND for torpedo-/submarine-defense... Asked the other way round: How ''differently specialized'' ships still can be in the close future ?

    The LPD's are not that old at all and are still capable enough to be replaced. They can transport LCU's and smaller landingcraft. You can move them further out to conduct landing operations. They are also capable to transport army equipment like Leopard 2 A6, CV9035 and Pzh2000 and bring them to shore with LCU's. This gives the marines support with real firepower.

    Please Dutch return the name of our map to Greater Sunda Island, there was no Java island in Indonesia before. You changed it to Java Island, which means using Arabic letters taken from the word JAWI/JAVI.
    Please Westerners, especially Dutch people, US, NATO return our original Sunda names to YOUR maps. We are not an Arab nation, 1 million people have left Islam and returned to their religion, namely Sundanese.
    We were forced to convert to Islam because our kingdom was defeated by Islamic rebels in the 16th century .
    GET BACK THE NAME OF OUR ISLAND, The island of Java never existed.
    The Dutch must be responsible for turning Sunda into a JAVA island.

      Maybe no one told you this, but the Dutch are no longer in charge of java and indonesia. Havent been for a few decades, so maybe ask this of the java/indonesia authorities.
