Yes sir. I love it. Its a D4505. I worked at Greyhound 2006- 2021 and have recently switched over to local transit. It is a very fulfilling job and for me a dream come true. I will keep those memories of rolling the Hound for LIFE.

Me too. I worked there 14.5 years. Started at 26 and quit just shy of my 41st birthday so I feel like I grew up there. While I am now doing other things, I will always treasure my GH days and the life it afforded me those years I worked there.
I just did a STOP BANG exam to measure my potential sleep apnoea risk. Exercise and nutrition (and subsequent weight loss!) eliminated the risk altogether. Only drinking beers overseas on vacation helps too!. Go back now and complete my medical assessment to drive a coach based in regional Australia (Greyhound here so named after their radiator caps were branded with that name in the 1920s).
Fun fact did you know that the expression the whole 9 yards originated in World War II you see 50 caliber machine gun rounds came in 9 yards segmented belts of ammo to be put into the P 51 mustang Aircraft but during the end of the war the loaders that we're loading the ammunition into the guns started cutting them in half so they were giving the pilots half of the ammunition that they actually needed to take out knots the aircraft so the head loaders returned to their colleagues and say give them the whole 9 yards meaning giving them the whole round of bullets that they needed
the side gunner of the copter would spray bullets to the ground enemies and thus "give them the whole nine yards" - - meaning to let the whole ammo belt/chain cycle through the gun and spare none. so we have a different interpretation.
I became a school bus driver due a layoff, unintended consequence for many going paperless companies like Xerox/HP/Minolta etc are hurting. There just isn't much money in school bus driver pay. I'm a good driver and like you said, I actually like doing it. Think I might apply.

But it's not the same. Many terminals are being cut out, which places more responsible solely on the driver without any type of support. So keep that in mind.

Yea it definitely pays more...I was hoping the difference wasn't huge & it's something I always considered off & on. Besides, I plan to wind down in 7-8 yrs anyway...let the youngsters have it 😂

Well according to you NOTHING. I no longer am employed there so ask me anything and I can tell you. At the time, we were allowed to do short videos documenting our experience as a driver, but for safety reasons we could NOT divulge company info without written permission. So there would have only been so much that I could say. Maybe the title should have been "a moment with a driver." Maybe that would make you happier. Have a wonderful day Sweatpea 1971.
Also...I did a video once I left the company where I talk more about the lifestyle. You are basically on call 24/7, 365 on what's called the extra board. These are the drivers expected to be ready within a 2 hours notice if and when the regular driver calls off or they need a double. I worked out of Cincinnati. So I routinely ran the extra bus to either Detroit, Cleveland, Nashville/Birmingham/Memphis, and Knoxville/Atlanta. You can work 15 hour days, with a maximum of 10 hours behind the wheel. I worked there from 2006 til 2021 and wouldn't trade that time in my life for anything. I left in 2021 and am now happily driving the 18 wheeler.

I was wondering about like can you choose where you want to go or how long you want to stay in a particular region, and do they pay for a hotel if your 10 hour break is away from home, that sort of thing. Been here since 2006- ... Did one year if terminal first. So 13, almost 14 years. 12 driving. My favorite model no longer is in service which is the MC12 of course. The last one I drove was in 2012. My favorite model is a smooth DL3, preferably a 12 speed. Something magical about that number 12.
Earth Boy Sun And Rain, WOW! I almost started to drive for Greyhound in Dec. 1999, (I worked on the platform from 1995-1999), but I chose another route...sigh. I’m still “TRUE BLUE” 4ever, though. 🙋♂️😂💯 Now your bring up two of my favorite models as well. The MC-12 was and is a GREAT bus. I was a BIG fan of them with the Silversides, though. The all white ones didn’t quite catch me....🤷♂️😂 The DL3’s are also awesome coaches. My preference are the ones with the 5 numbers on them. Those 12 speed ones are definitely in a league of their own. Those are the ones I believe that have the 4 numbers that were refurbished in Napanee some years ago.

I've been gone for 2 years now and switched to OTR trucking, so a few things have changed and they were recently bought out. But you will make a living there and it is actually very fun. You will end up making life long friends and know people all over the country. I loved my 14.5 years of service.

I won't tell U not to try it. The new way will be all you know and you might like it. It just wasn't for me. But don't deny yourself the chance. If offered the job...TAKE IT. Let me know a year from now how it goes.

It's probably changed since I left because they were bought out by Flixbus. They have slightly altered training program. Closed most of the terminals. So the experience you will have won't be the same one as I had. I urge you to give it a shot. Make sure you let me know how you do. If nothing else you walk away with a CDL and experience.

Absolutely NOT. When you start you are on call 24/7, 365, day and night. When everyone else is home...thats when you will not be.

Please know what you are talking about next time. The company has many stops that the driver doesn't agree with. But we still have to stop.
