As an outsider perspective, I was in disbelief when I saw Anwar n M shaking hands like old friends during the past election. The same man who put Anwar, his career n family in turmoil. It is no surprise to me this is happening. Anwar should hv known better.

The azmin group left the coalition before tum M resigned or could handover the job. He no longer have parliament majority therefore his position is null. Only then he resigned. He came into interim PM by the power if YDPA. Buy this only valid for short time until the new PM is elected.

The only reason why Mahathir thinks that Anwar is not suitable is because Anwar goes for Malaysian Malaysia while Mahathir goes for Malay Malaysia.
A clear game being played by this old man. I am not surprised if later he would still be the PM and will form a coalition with the party he said he does not want to be associated with which is UMNO. A lot of uncertainties but nothing is impossible in this country where betrayal is a norm in politics.

You fellows are wrong Mahathir resigned because the opposition was attempting a coup d’etat and Mahathir does not want to work with his old party (now the opposition) despite his own party members wanting to form a new government without Anwar’s Party which is a component party inline with Mahathir’s, and containing the successor, Anwar - theres was also a lot of internal bickering from poor members who had their agenda on plate than the country. The opposition haven’t decided post Mahathir’s resignation who their canditate is, they “had” figured that they will form a backdoor government by supporting Mahathir and purging anwar’s component Party and by bringing on their own seats, but Mahathir’s master stroke shows why he is the master, and did not want to take any position that may have a caveat, the orchestration of coup d’etat has NOTHING to do with Mahathir, he just responded so well he has now rewritten the game of politics; looks like he will reunite with Anwar but not without thoroughly combing with a fine tooth comb any infidels he may spot. This is the whole story. Professor you are not portraying the scenario correctly. I am not taking sides but just saying’ based on verified reports.

(now in 60s onwards) to see his downfall. He had his chance to step down gracefully and respectfully and honor like Singapore Lee Kuan Yew but he had choosen the path of being "pull down" and failure and disrespectful and humiliate by his own malay people (more than 83% of the population are Malays). The GE15 will forever scarred and failure his legacy. The results signified discontentment of his constituency on his role in "Sheraton Move" which led to bad Covid pandemic management by 2 Governments after his tenure as PM during Pakatan Harapan as Government.
Dr. Mahathir is fully convinced that Mr. Anwar is not the right choice to be PM of Malaysia. He will manipulate to remain as PM untill new elections held and see whether the people give a mandate to Mr. Anwar to be PM. So that he can wash his hands and say it was not his choice but the peoples choice and in the event Mr. Anwar mishandles the blame will be on the people.

Also, the main reasons Mahathir do not want Anwar as the next Pm is because he is scarred of majority race which is Islam in Malaysia would not get special favor from the government anymore. Well, you know what i think? Is time for them to grow up and stop waiting for special treatment all the time. The real bumiputeras or orang asli is getting robbed for past 60yrs and not making any noise about it. And yet we have the Malay who are always not being grateful for what government has done for them for all this yrs. Is time for gov to start helping the poor people instead focusing on just one race. The majority of Malaysians know who Anwar Ibrahim really is. Which is why Malaysians are rejecting Anwar as prime minister. Pakatan Harapan Party won in the last election because of the Malaysian confidence in Mahathir and not Anwar. After won the election, Anwar start to play dirty by urging Mahathir to give up his prime minister position. Due to the overwhelming urge, Mahathir had to resign as prime minister in order to suppress Anwar's greed to become prime minister in the wrong direction. When Mahathir resigned, the decision of the prime minister was handed to the king. This is called a Mahathir Game 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Rather than carrying out the manifesto on which he was elected, Dr Mahathir took his eye off the ball and also in the process failed to guard his back from members of his own party who were in fact renegades of the corrupt party. Mahathir started straying away into international politics eg picking on India in its internal politics and thereby losing massive income from India from sale of palm oil. He then started trying to head an Islamic group of countries which incl Pakistan the great holder of minority human rights etc. This ended in failure. Having been elected by nearly all the races of Malaysia he strayed into the lobby of people who wanted to give rights to one predominant race. He is the victim of the two-faced politics he was playing. By his own actions he had outlived his usefulness to Malaysia.
