    I think if I were there, answering the questions based on facts wouldn’t be a problem for me but controlling my emotions with some of these offensive questions would be the bigger challenge. Tun Mahathir is superb for smiling throughout the interview. He’s done this before and it is at the tip of his finger. The guy is a political giant after all.

    pre-1997, anwar and tun were working together fine. there was no tussle until in 1997, during the financial crisis, anwar could not come up with a better solution than to follow what other asian countries were doing, and that was to accept the imf loan. part of the imf condition was, no companies in trouble shall be given loans. they must be left to go bankrupt. tun rejected imf offer and gave loans to the companies in trouble becos of the sudden drop in the value of our ringgit. anwar was furious and accused tun of cronyism for saving the CEOs. he also accused tun of giving contracts to his cronies. but he did not mentions the thousands of contracts given out by tenders. he only pointed at the few companies which received huge contracts to create public outrage. during that time, he was already being charged for sodomy and abuse of power.
    first of all, if the big companies were to go bankrupt overnight, who will suffer the most? the rich CEO? no. it is the thousands of workers and their families who will suffer. tun saw the crisis as a temporary problem that did not need to sacrifice so many companies and let its employees suffer. so he saved as many of them as he could by giving them loans. he stopped mega projects and cut govt spending.
    fyi, the loans, or 'bailouts' have to be repaid with assets as collateral. this was not mentioned at all to make the loans looked as if they were given out for free, to make it looked like tun misused public funds.
    secondly, if you are the pm and you wanted the infrastructure project to be successful, who will you give the contracts to? to unknown companies who may take the bank loans and disappear? or do you give it to established companies with good track records? well, tun chose the established companies to assure of its success, but he was accused of giving the projects to his cronies.

      That's what I keep on debating with the fellow people who accused him of cronyism. Seriously, I would follow suit if these cronies of him can get the job done very well, then why not?

    • @blackmamba4965
      @blackmamba4965 5 лет назад +8

      @@GeorgiaAndrea cronyism was a desperate attempt to divert attention away from his embarrassing sodomy charges. the charges were presented with a victim and dna evidence. everything was done according to the rule of law. but as usual, politicians will play the political victim when they get in trouble with the law.
      however, it is possible that he was set up. but the question is, by whom? who will gain if he lost his job? without thinking, they all pointed their fingers at tun. why would tun go through all this trouble to sack his deputy? anwar was not the pm, he was just a deputy. a pm can sack his deputy anytime without any drama. they did not stop to think at all, who else inside umno will gain if anwar was sacked? they have dark characters like najib, zahid etc
      recently, anwar told the world that tun apologised to him, which vindicated his claim that he was set up, that he was a political victim, that he was falsely accused. but tun never officially apologise to him. this was how anwar spin everything to his advantage. this is the type of person we will be having for our next pm.

    15:10 She's questioning about our races now? Lmao read Malaysia's history lady, so far we have more than one races in our country and we live in harmony for years. The issue regarding any races only surface when it come to anything related to politic. They used this to fight against our previous government but beg you pardon after we became independence, there're lots of action made to bring all of the three main races Malay, Indian and Chinese together. Indian and Chinese people may origins from other country but they were there when we fight for our freedom and achieve independence so we accept them and they also participate in the governance of Malaysia since then. 60 years the government voted which is the party who unites us all until now that we recently have a severe corruption issue that Malaysian decided it's time to change the government. We don't want anymore of that in our country. So that's called democracy. We chose who we trust in leading our country towards better future. And when I meant we, is us all Malaysian no matter what races you are. So do me a favor lady, stop sticking your nose into other people country if you didn't know shit about them.

    Tun Dr Mahathir lobbied for Najib Razak to be the Prime Minister before Abdullah Badawi stepped down as the 5th Prime Minister. The other candidate is the current Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Dr Mahathir felt indebted to lobby for Najib Razak . Najib Razak's father Tun Abdul Razak the 2nd Prime Minister was the one who brought Dr Mahathir back to UMNO, after being sacked by Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister.

    The interviewer is acting ridiculous, I've seen the dialogue between them and all i can say is, that wasn't a dialogue, it's a debate. If you're not interested in listening the answer at the first place then don't ask any. What a pathetic way of asking questions to anyone.

    Once, during his tenure, the judges and prosecutors can be bought just like we buy groceries off from the racks in the supermarket.
    It was the late Ustaz Fadhil Noor ex-president of the then PAS who supplicated: “May Allah prolong his age for him to see what he had done to the system.”
    Now he’s making atonement to amend the wrongs that he did to the system before his time to leave this world approaches.

      it is easy for us to say that isn't it? what can the prime minister do if no one made any police reports against these judges and prosecutors? you expect him to just lock everyone up based on hearsay? was he the police who go around the courtyards, the streets, looking for corrupted officials? that is just a stupid accusation my friend.
