What are some of your favorite shade plants in the garden?💚
Uuuum, Idk. I’m just now becoming familiar with what plants are considered shade plants. I have always admired hostas.
Histas are my favorite. So many varieties.

The esthetic is so cool and calming with the green and white shade bed. Lots of different textures and varying shades of green draws the eye in! Hostas are my fave but looking forward to the hydrangea growth! Love from NJ💕

Those giant callas are glorious! Wow, now I'm going to research if they would work well in my Zone 9...a shaded area of course, but our humidity is no joke. I have a small potted midnight blue calla that is on my covered porch and is doing quite well, but ugh I really like that giant calla.

Gorgeous plants. I am a sucker for hostas. I can't grow them since I live in an apartment and only have a balcony garden. My sister bought a house that came with a whole yard full of them and she hates them. I'm like how? LOL!
O wow I am jealous! I love hostas too & there are so many different varieties! Since you are in an apartment you could also grow them in planters if you have the shade, just a thought!😉💚
If you are close to Dallas NC there is a nursery called Creekside Nursery, they have pretty much any hosta you could want. They also have a RUclips channel.

Hi everything is so lovely ! Do the topiary plants do well in the winter with ice and snow , or do you bring them in ? I would love to buy some . I have many hosta plants and would love to collect many more however the deer are notorious here in New Jersey ! I love everything that you have done ! I had to remove most of my Solomon seal because too invasive. Spread like wild fire. I love the foliage though,last until late summer

This weekend is my birthday and I am most excited about having a Saturday morning off from work, so I can go to the farmers market. Do you have drip in the shade garden? If so can you share what size emitters, how often and for how long you water? I am in 7b as well.
Hey there! I do have drip installed in my shade garden! I run it for 15mins as needed depending on weather. You can check out the vid I did on installing drip in this bed😉

I'm normally not a fan of spirals, but I can't imagine anything else looking as good as they do up against your house - they're SO pretty! Your entire shade bed is pretty, and your new entrance pots and shrubs are PERFECTION - no wonder you're so excited! :)

Beautiful. What brand mulch do you use? Ive learned thy are not all created equal. Some are chunkier others are just shredded and dont last. Thanks.
Your garden is beautiful! Such a great start to the season. I can see you put a lot of work and love into growing! I also have a backyard garden it’s the start of my 3 year now but there is still so much to learn and I appreciate your tips, tricks and visual presentation. Those calla lillies are amazing! Did you get them locally or have a recommendation for online?
I bought them 2yrs ago from my local farmers market & have not seen them since! I want more lol. The vendor I got them from told me they can be divided like hostas so that is my plan to have more😃💚💚

I've had them for a couple years now it has been transplanted numerous times (more than 5🤦🏾♀️🤣) but I love them so much!! Check with your local garden nursery 🙏🏾

I’m in a 9b zone & burnt my 1st hot pink hosta. I have it fully in the shade now instead of partial. Hope it comes back with they pretty pink
What was the name of the hand tool that you used to remove grass ?
I hope you get this…what happens with the Calla Lillies in the winter? Did you dig up the rhizomes or leave them in the ground to over winter?
I leave them in the ground & they've come back every year 😁💚

I do have some native plants but I honestly don't even think about what is native when I'm plant shopping I pick up whatever calls to my design eye lol🤷🏾♀️💚👩🏾🌾💕

No it was in bloom the hailstorm knocked all the blooms off

Those blue planters are gorgeous against the white fence and making a semicircle for the other one will be nice. Love, love, love everything in the shade garden. I can't wait to see my calla lily get that big. I only bought one, and now I have a little one growing also. Do you remember where you got your pavers in your front garden bed from?
