I have been informed that the light up eyes requires double tapping the button, hence why mine didn't turn on. I have no idea why XTB chose to implement it this way. I'll put out a short to show this.
I bought this, when I got it and pulled it out of the box I was so impressed. It really gave me that fans toys feel, I recently picked up their inferno and grapple and was like wow! Once I started messing with it a bit the old xtb came through, things not working as they should. Their commitment to the finer details is what makes them a class below fans toys. They have improved but not enough to be considered the best out there. Love the focus on the paint application and sculpt but they really need to iron out those engineering issues. I'm not even gonna bother transforming him, I always like to transform my figures at least once but he will just sit pretty on my shelf and that's good enough for me
Thanks for doing this transformation long-form-- it's exactly what I needed to make a decision on this piece. I'm passing for now. I have to give XTB credit in that they definitely swung for the fences on this one. Good for the hobby in the long run.
All I do is pose my figures in robot mode so he’s perfect to me! He looks great next to their springer, Kup and Perceptor literally straight out the cartoon!
Good (first full) review! thanks! Good you give this a partial recommendation as clearly with such a complex (i think not bad) transformation this is not for everyone. I am very happy despite some flaws with this figure as it is the best Utra Magnus out there. Also there is another transformation video just came out a few hours earlier today which explains in more detail each step very carefully so that when you follow exactly there is no problem in transforming Stack.
How widespread is the cracked waist skirt Q/C problem? Also, I heard one person mention some samples have loose abs and/or waist joints. Do you know anything about those? I'm on the fence about this figure, and those two things are the only potential deal breakers. The shoulder issue looks annoying, but I'm confident I can fix it if my sample has the problem, and while the transformation is hard, I can appreciate it's not the worst by XTB's standards. I also won't transform it frequently enough to seriously stress the parts.
The hip skirt issue seems to be the most common one, the arm issue is less prevalent but I know of at least 3 occurrences, if those issues aren't deal breakers and you aren't one to transform often, I would get one
Wow now I understand why you said to temper my expectations. That transformation looks awful! It’s a great looking figure but it’s definitely one you buy to pose and nothing else unless you like frustrating transformations. I really appreciate you pointing out all the issues so I can decide if I want to get this still. XTB has some great looking figures but again it seems like they need to take a little more time and get things right like they did with their Inferno mold. Incredible job TM cause we can tell that was not an easy video to make!
Don’t get me wrong this figure is a Beautiful piece that I would definitely proud to display in my collection. But hearing about the QC issues and the over-engineered transformation makes me glad I when with their Grapple instead.
You're the first reviewer ive seen that got the rotating trailer hitch working. Everyone else i saw had the wheels unpeg and fall apart constantly and stated it wouldn't work
Been waiting patiently for this one. The initial version of the minifigure mold was pulling up his sleeve but now it looks like he’s scratching his wrist 😭 and And yeah the eye button has to be double tapped to turn on for some absurd reason, Also you can get a nice side to side tilt on his waist too but it can be odd to use. I find it best to lean him all the way forward then tilt him at an angle and place it back in so you have clearance to tilt it. Either way awesome video as always and you got this out so quick, ended up more positive than I thought talking to you 😂

finally a review with a full transformation!!!! been on the fence with this guy cause i wanted to see the build quality. you know how x-transbots are: sometimes the figure is good, some times not. never consistant with releases. thanks for the transformation
Great review, and I applaud 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 you for transforming him i won’t be doing that lol for sure will be leaving him in his bot mode as XTB nailed it beautifully. But I got to give it to XTB for a job well done for sure this one is one of there good releases despite the QCs.
Great video man! You amaze me every time you transform Xtransbots on camera, ha ha. I need to get this one, I have been a little gunshy with this company and have been waiting for reviews before ordering.
Holy crap, that is a ridiculous transformation, but got to give them credit for how good both modes look. I’m more partial to the retro toy color scheme if I were to buy one. Magnus is a tough character to design into a toy. Let’s hope the studio series 86 rumor is true so we can see yet another attempt.
This one looks really clean and I love the scale comared with MP-10. I also like the Robot Mode better than Masterpiece (very cartoon accurate). The human figure from the cartoon episode where the all became humans was a nice touch. Agree with you that the vehicle transformation looked painful. Thank you for the awesome review.
The fact the voice clips go as far as to say their made-up names is honestly just the best thing. It's silly but honestly, I'll take this over just jacking movie and cartoon clips and plopping them in any day. I really hope some 3P companies consider building upon this idea. It's a neat bonus and... well if people don't like it they can just not use it or mod in their own if they have the knowhow.
Ah, phew. Cos I’m not gonna try till there are decent videos both ways 🤣 I missed a bunch in my preview. I didn’t find the double joints on the arms or knees!
Just another reminder for me why I stopped with the MP stuff. If I want to pay high prices for something I can’t transform, I’ll get threezero or flametoys. These over complicated, over engineered designs are not needed for such simple looking bots. Plus a lot of them seem to put the money into the piece count and paint, so we get stuff like plastic breaking or screws not being able to stay in and at this point in the game, that is unacceptable ESPECIALLY from an established company like XTB. Maybe the Fanstoys will be better but I don’t have much hope that it won’t be compromised in transformation or articulation. So disappointing for the people who were really looking forward to this, especially for $200+.
Great figure and great👍 review and thanks for sharing this with us and I love the little figure from Only Human and I love the reference to the great Robert Stack who voice him in the movie🎥 and keep up the great work you do and you rock🤘 and as always till all are one
As always great review TMR! Yeah, I agree with everything said. Am definitely planning on picking him up. Definitely seems like a huge leap forward from Takara MP version. Almost like MP-10 to MP-44.
If did not already have the Takara nor the original Stack, this is probably worth the price they are asking for and would have gotten it. The engineering involved to get it in both modes is complex and fragile but when it gets to those modes, the look is fantastic. It outshines any version out there in both modes. I think it's fragile in a sense that it is composed and dependent of so many thin panels having tiny tabs to form a stable cab. Eventually, some of those panels and tabs will loosen or break and will compromise the stability of that cab and fall apart. The complexity and difficulty of the transformation doesn't really bother me as I do admire how they engineered it and I see it more as a puzzle in its intricacy to solve. For $200, I have the Takara in robot mode and the Old Stack in cab mode and at 8 feet away; I'll never be able to tell the difference IF i get this new Stack. Sorry, Xtrans. I think 200 is a good price for how it looks, the engineering, and features but you are just too late in the game for me. If it goes down to $125 or $150, I might buy it on a whim. At this point, this is more of a, "if I had money to waste" kind of a purchase.
Thank you for another great review! I was totally on board until it got to the cab. That just looks frustrating and not sure the juice is worth the squeeze there. Robot mode looks sooo good though. Think I’ll wait a little longer to decide. If that’s not painted, but just well done colored plastic, then MS needs to use the same plastic for their MP Optimus 2.0. Thanks again!
Great review! Maybe the potential QC issues are a sign for me that I should just keep MP-22 and wait to see what Margh has to offer. Another thing that puts me off is that it seems this figure is just as wide as 22, so I wouldn't be able to create any more space on my shelf to let the other movie Autobots breathe a little more. Shame tho. I really wanted to get this and I hoped for big things from this one.
The reissue fixes the QC issues. It really is a gorgeous figure. I'd rank it higher than any Fanstoys figure in terms of presence. Even Sovereign and Quietus. It leaves MP-22 in the dust
Amazing review, as always, TM! I have the Takara… upgrading to this one. Probably will get the FT version. If FT is the best bot mode, I’m dreading putting the XTB into vehicle mode!
Nice review. I checked tfw2005 to see what kind of pics people posted of their breakages, for a better look. I'm wondering if you had a chance to look inside the rotator cuffs; apparently the white plastic parts inside have screws that have cracked the plastic, some have reported. May have to keep my preorder of FansToys Magnus. Seems KFC/Xtb tend to rush projects out when Chinese New Year is near, which trends with a greater number of quality control issues than usual. If I made a mistake in buying a lemon of a product from Xtb, I won't make it again. Best to stick with releases before November from these guys, it seems. Thank you for your time in putting out this review, TMReviews.
Hi me again. Anyway, so far this is my experience with xtb I owned 3 Xtransbots figures at one time. Boost and Apollyon are garbage. Aegis is good in my opinion. Not fanstoys-level good, but still good.
@@mechgouki7999 Same here. I have about a hand full of Xtb figures; most of which were purchased reissues. I'd usually check the reviews, and tfw2005 before pulling the trigger on something from them. Their Trailbreaker, Blaster, Skids, Reflector, Scourge, Cosmos, Wreck-Gar, Quintesson, and I think that's it. Most of them have very minor problems, like most toys, but a couple are rather good. Been lucky so long as I picked figures that are vetted well after release. This time I took the plunge before waiting; hoping it doesn't come back to bite my shiny metal arse. lol
@@theintangiblecog5157 Ive owned only 3 of their figures, plus KFC transistor and citizen stack. I have also seen quite a number of reviews, and I honestly have to say that I have a very low opinion of Xtb. Their trailbreaker was the only good one I have. Their Windcharger made me wonder what they were smoking when they designed it. And their Springer has god-awful feet. As far as Xtransbots go, I now steer clear of their products. Commander Stack's problems come as no surprise to me. I expected them right from the start, just business as usual for xtb
This is like a throwback to older XTB designs, over-engineered and not fun. No wonder not many reviewers were transforming this on camera, well done for being that brave! I love XTB, and this guy looks amazing, but that Transformation (especially for someone like me who goes in with no instructions) looks like 2 hours of hell, coming out the other end sweating, tired, and with probably more than a couple of broken pieces. He doesn't look THAT much better than MP22 to warrant putting myself through that nightmare. I still have PTSD from transforming their Menasor trailer with no instructions (3 hours and only 1 broken tab, but still) and that guy is NEVER coming out of combined mode.
Throwback? I thought the older XTB figures where the ones that were fun and the newer ones have been the more Q/C problematic. I sort of think this figure is the middle ground, not as good as the Stunticon members, but also not as bad their Kup or Perceptor.
It was fun watching this frustrating transformation. I only collect deceptions for now. You'll get your revenge when Jive comes out,. That one is gonna make me super sad.
Really want to get me a Stack but the reported QC issues are really holding me back. That being said, I really like the transformation despite the complexity.
Thanks for the video Sony. I had to follow yours as well as another because for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what you did to release the upper section of the waist. I also had major issues trying to pull out that double hinged piece under the trailer hitch that tabs into the tires. This was a painful, painful, painful transformation. Worse than the infamous Menasor trailer in my opinion. Now that I've completed it, I'm going to sit back in my lounge chair and wait for Pinhead and the rest of the Cenobites to show up and finish me off.
DUDE!!!! That was one GREAT transformation video. I wish I had waited and watched your video first because you showed me so many things I just missed. My transformation was correct, I just missed a couple of details. Seriously, you made that look easy and from experience, I can say, it is not.
Yeah...uhhh...I saw an English language summarized review of the Youth Version prototype of Commander Stack from German RUclipsr The Nerd Crate Too...I said it in the comments then and I stand by it: "So in a nutshell, they learned nothing from previous messy releases, and worse yet, the transformation is a hot mess compared to maybe even the Citizen Stack from the Keith's Fantasy Club side of X-Transbots..." I dunno. Maybe it's best for me to just hunt down the Toy House Factory "Hyper Magnum" KO of MP22 Ultra Magnus. Oh!! Apparently, there's another voice clip for Commander Stack where he's talking to Perceptor...buuut it's the old Mugen Scope, not the more recent Janssen!! 😆🤣
Unfortunately I can't do this fix, the screw is overtightened on mine and can't be removed to fix the misaligned washer. Since this one isn't mine, I don't want to use force and break it
Great Review! This is the Ultra Magnus for me it has the prefect look that I go for, and I hate the white Optimus thing so bonus there. To be honest he is my least favorite of the Movie Autobots though lol. I think the Human figure might actually be the correct size to the cartoon. When it comes to figures released with MPs they scale to the Alt modes perfectly but not the Robot mode. Spike came up to Bumblebee's abdomen for example in the cartoon.
Thanks for your honest assessment. Watching the transformation brought back all of the bad memories I had of the XTB Monolith trailer transformation. The last couple of releases had me hopeful XTB was getting better, but with the QC/material issues and the frustrating transformation this seems like a step back to their old ways.
I had initially preordered this because it does look better than the MP, but the more I saw the more it turned me off and I ended up cancelling before FT even announced theirs. The transformation looks like it should have been fun and interesting, but XTB found a way to make it bad instead (as they tend to do). That waist joint scares me with how skinny it is. I also just don't like any of the faces they made for it. Fortunately FT did announce one as since then. As for the all-built-in vs armored white prime debate I honestly would like both, hopefully a better all-built-in option comes in the future.
The Transformers look great in robo and vehicle Mode. They have awesome articulation but they are also a pain in a.s when it concern transformation. When I was Young I often played with transformation and taken into consideration what You did, I cant imagine to play it with 15m.of transformation 😂
Easy pass as I'm not paying just to get a defective Transformer. I'm also very happy with both my Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and Delta Magnus so I'm good. I actually like that he's all big and boxy looking.
It looks absolutely fantastic, but man, that transformation does not look fun at all... I was going to get this but I think I'm going to wait for the Fanstoys release
Hmmmm. I have takara delta and have been waiting to decide on ultra. This is a pass for me. Nice bot mode overall but despite being outdated I think i kind of like the takara better. Seeing what ft is planning I think I will wait.
Looks great (as usual from XTB), transformation sucks (as usual from XTB), and the new QA sticker means nothing (which based from their trend, it will be usual unless they do some drastic changes in their QA management). I won't transform it at all, but even just for the robot mode, I'm still not sure is worth it (for me at least). Thanks for the review!
I think I'm going to pass on this figure. Maybe its wishful thinking but I do believe that a company can really do an updated '86 toyline figure where the Prime figure can be partially Transformed yet still fit inside a transformed trailer and still have decent articulation. That transformation looked like a complete nightmare and the overengineering along with QC issues makes me say "nope". I would say I'll wait on the FT's version but that's probably 5 years from now and they're doing the Dreamwave gimmick where the trailer lego parts forms around the Prime figure. Who's next...MMC, Maketoys, the resurrected TE/DS...or will it be an entirely brand new company?
Man X-transbot always have great looking bots. But it seems they always have build issues ever since from Apollyon. They never seem to get it right from there.
Before I watch this, I have to know: you’ve had terrible luck with XTB products and QC issues. Is there anything wrong with your copy or did it break during the video? I just can’t bare to watch.
It didn't break and there is nothing wrong other than a few common issues (loose hip skirt and wonky arm ratchet). The transformation is another story tho...
Alright, having watched through the whole thing, I can honestly say that transforming Stack is definitely case of the juice not being worth the squeeze.
Fiddly nightmare transformation. Easy pass. It sucks cuz the Mangmotion stop motion transformation almost sold me on it, but as usual he made it look much less tedious than it is. Seeing it flop around up for the torso/cab… gives me flashbacks to Alien Attack’s DOTM Megatron.
Yeah I love mangmotion channel but it is a not a realistic view at the transformation because stop motion means the figure is at rest for every picture and not in someone's hands
X-transbots Just cannot seem to get out of its own way as far as overcomplicated puzzle formers. Some might argue that it needs to be complicated but I think they're is a reason that Takara is so good at what it does. I personally think they're a better versions of this figure out there
His transformation is a nightmare, his arms are held together by a single screw just like their springers foot is also held by a piece of plastic and single screw. if you turn mister stacks arms 5 to 6 times forward, behold his arm will come undone. But this dude won't show that part.
Nice review TM. As always. Well, this one and the last few look like XTB is back to typical form of "looks" good but bad engineering and QC. My decision to not by XTB anymore still stands. :( Sculpt breaking articulation joints, like this ab crunch, don't count. Cracks right out of the box... Nightmare transformation... Inconsistent tolerances... superfluous lights and sounds that nobody asked for to inflate the price... Easy pass... I'll wait for Fans Toys and in the meantime Keep my MP
Head articulation is lacking. QC issues are rampant. Transformation is poorly designed. They just dropped the ball on this release. He looks fine in robot mode. But that’s about all it has going for it.
FYI this guy figured out how to fix the shoulder problem. Seems like it's a mis-assembly? Hopefully yours isn't too tight to fix! ruclips.net/video/ZAaJVr5Ew9w/видео.html

If I made a mistake in buying a lemon of a product from Xtb, I won't make it again. Best to stick with releases before November from these guys, it seems. Thank you for your time in putting out this review, TMReviews.
Hi me again. Anyway, so far this is my experience with xtb
I owned 3 Xtransbots figures at one time.
Thanks, there was another reviewer who did a video, but it's very long...
Throwback? I thought the older XTB figures where the ones that were fun and the newer ones have been the more Q/C problematic. I sort of think this figure is the middle ground, not as good as the Stunticon members, but also not as bad their Kup or Perceptor.
It looks like an impressive transformation. I am certainly never doing it.
Lol
Thanks, man. I'll be leaving this guy in bot mode.
Staying with my modded MP which looks and articulates alot better than stock and to me still looks better than xtb. But cant wait to see what FT does
It was fun watching this frustrating transformation. I only collect deceptions for now. You'll get your revenge when Jive comes out,. That one is gonna make me super sad.
Lol
Glad I could help☺️
Debating on getting this do you think Takara will do a V2 of Magnus?
Given their track record, most likely but who knows when
great vid!!! I'm looking forward to getting mine. That transformation looks awful but I'll probably transform it once every few months or so.
Thanks
Great homage to Robert Stack!
DUDE!!!! That was one GREAT transformation video. I wish I had waited and watched your video first because you showed me so many things I just missed. My transformation was correct, I just missed a couple of details. Seriously, you made that look easy and from experience, I can say, it is not.
Appreciate this comment very much
Yeah...uhhh...I saw an English language summarized review of the Youth Version prototype of Commander Stack from German RUclipsr The Nerd Crate Too...I said it in the comments then and I stand by it: "So in a nutshell, they learned nothing from previous messy releases, and worse yet, the transformation is a hot mess compared to maybe even the Citizen Stack from the Keith's Fantasy Club side of X-Transbots..."
I dunno. 😆🤣
Lol
There’s a fix vid for that shoulder rotation out. It’s more explanatory than showing but can help. 7:15
Unfortunately I can't do this fix, the screw is overtightened on mine and can't be removed to fix the misaligned washer. Since this one isn't mine, I don't want to use force and break it
@@TMReviews If the one you get is the same are you going to just simply order replacement parts?
Yep, I'll ask TCP what to do
hmm... I am still interested in this figure, but I'll think I'll wait for a price drop or maybe a version 2
Good idea
Great Review! This is the Ultra Magnus for me it has the prefect look that I go for, and I hate the white Optimus thing so bonus there. To be honest he is my least favorite of the Movie Autobots though lol. I think the Human figure might actually be the correct size to the cartoon. When it comes to figures released with MPs they scale to the Alt modes perfectly but not the Robot mode. Spike came up to Bumblebee's abdomen for example in the cartoon.
Thanks
Is it worth doing a VS with the masterpiece version?
Definitely, they both have categories they will win
The UM figurine smokes rocks...
Lol
I've tried 2 different batteries including brand new ones and neither work.
For whch, the eyes or the sound?
Thanks for your honest assessment. Watching the transformation brought back all of the bad memories I had of the XTB Monolith trailer transformation. The last couple of releases had me hopeful XTB was getting better, but with the QC/material issues and the frustrating transformation this seems like a step back to their old ways.
Thanks, yep, one step forward one step back
I had initially preordered this because it does look better than the MP, but the more I saw the more it turned me off and I ended up cancelling before FT even announced theirs.
This transformation is a fate worst than death🥺⚰️
Lol
Heat up the screw or surrounding area to loosen the screw.
I got the screw out, still couldn't fix it, something is up with the molding of that shoulder
What a transformation
Yep
This should be the new puzzle box from Hellraiser 😂
The Transformers look great in robo and vehicle Mode. They have awesome articulation but they are also a pain in a.s when it concern transformation. When I was Young I often played with transformation and taken into consideration what You did, I cant imagine to play it with 15m.of transformation 😂
Lol
@19:45 the nightmare on elm street arms tho 😅
Lol
Transforming this guy looks like a form of torture.
Easy pass as I'm not paying just to get a defective Transformer. I'm also very happy with both my Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and Delta Magnus so I'm good. I actually like that he's all big and boxy looking.
Looks good but I’ll save my money and put it towards Fanstoys.
I’d rather see parts forming if it would clear better the transform mess.
How does that Jordan Peele movie go?
Nope. He reminded me of Freddy Krueger with the stretched out arms.
Thx for showing us, Sony.
Thanks for watching
I CANT DEAL WITH THAT NOW
Very nice looking but the arm joints look weak, just don't trust XTB, I'll be waiting for FT, my ko mp22 is just fine for now.
Thanks for watching
Ohhh God, starting to all feel a bit like Locke with all these QC issues here 😬😬😬😬
Man X-transbot always have great looking bots. But it seems they always have build issues ever since from Apollyon. They never seem to get it right from there.
This thing makes MP-36, 44, and 52 look like child's play.
The more of the reviews of this figure I see, the less I want it and am ok with my MP figure.
Surprise Surprise QC issues with X-Transbots.
I owned 3 Xtransbots figures at one time. Boost and Apollyon are garbage. Aegis is good in my opinion. Not fanstoys-level good, but still good.
Thanks for the great review as always . Transformation does not look fun at all
Thanks for watching
X-transbots Just cannot seem to get out of its own way as far as overcomplicated puzzle formers. Some might argue that it needs to be complicated but I think they're is a reason that Takara is so good at what it does. I personally think they're a better versions of this figure out there
Xtb should just make statues
They should make articulated action figures that don't transform with Accessories, they would make a killing
@@TMReviews as long as they stay out of flame toys a& three0 way. Their Autobot X will be very interesting
His transformation is a nightmare, his arms are held together by a single screw just like their springers foot is also held by a piece of plastic and single screw. if you turn mister stacks arms 5 to 6 times forward, behold his arm will come undone. But this dude won't show that part.
I definitely showed this, this comment lets me know you didn't actually watch 😂
That transformation looks excruciatingly tedious and difficult
Nice review TM. As always.
Well, this one and the last few look like XTB is back to typical form of "looks" good but bad engineering and QC. My decision to not by XTB anymore still stands. :( Sculpt breaking articulation joints, like this ab crunch, don't count. Cracks right out of the box... Nightmare transformation... Inconsistent tolerances... superfluous lights and sounds that nobody asked for to inflate the price... Easy pass... I'll wait for Fans Toys and in the meantime Keep my MP
I guess I'm happy for those that don't transform their transformers...
Head articulation is lacking. QC issues are rampant. Transformation is poorly designed. They just dropped the ball on this release. He looks fine in robot mode. But that’s about all it has going for it.
That’s all I need going for it but I get how it’s frustrating to others. Hopefully FT eventually drops theirs because the Takara is outdated
".... hairline fracture..." SKIP!
Xtb always has QC issues 😂
FYI this guy figured out how to fix the shoulder problem. Seems like it's a mis-assembly? Hopefully yours isn't too tight to fix! ruclips.net/video/ZAaJVr5Ew9w/видео.html
Tried that, didn't work
@@TMReviews Oh man that sucks. Bummer
