Big Joe was one of the first stars I seen at my very first Rock concert back in May 1956 when I was a freshman in high school. On the bill was Bo Diddley, The Platters, Clyde McPhatter. LaVern Baker, Bill Haley and the Comets, The Drifters, The Flamingos, and the Teen Queens. What an introduction to this rock n' roll to this green white kid! Got my groove by the time I was a sophomore though!
I can still see mom and daddy’s house parties music blasting domino playing friends and family fried fish fried chicken bbq ribs greens and potato salad cake pies mom daddy aunt Betty my older cousins most are dead now but I have the memories of watching and having fun in the 70’s 80’s and 90’s.
This song was used throughout the movie Lakawanna Blues and the scene you describe fits almost perfectly with the first part of the movie. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/GDtsMdh5Iq8/видео.html&ab_channel=DedicatedToTheCulture
Back in the day all those good Mothers would sit out on the porch with a head scarf around their heads and the children would be outside playing and you can hear this music from miles around
Just heard this in the movie "Lackawanna Blues". Although this music is from my grandparents time, I really like and appreciate it. It had me dancing too . 😄
Hi Paul - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I'm always pleased to hear Sleepy's very distinctive voice. Hope you're keeping good. I just buried a neighbour today who died in his sleep aged 67 so I'm somewhat reflective tonight - its all very sobering.
I just love how the people would have a good time with that music the way they dance fast and slow I don't think nothing better been enjoying yourself on the night

Great song and the backbeat is one of the best!As Chuck Berry said,it's got a backbeat, you can't lose it.

A record to play forever and a day seldom equaled never beaten!
