I went to bed hearing just fine in both ears. Woke the next morning and my left ear was so muffled it felt like it was stuffed with cotton. ENT did an MRI and said ear was fine structurally but full of fluid from Meniere's disease. Nothing could be done, just try to cut down on sodium. As a guitarist, I was devastated. No vertigo. No tinnitus. When people talk, it sound like a buzzing bee talking to me in that ear. Can't make out a word they say. This does interfere somewhat with my normal hearing in the right ear as it clashes with the words being spoken. So depressing. I need a miracle from God and will continue to petition Him daily. I believe in Him and his healing power. I must.

Can the cranial nerves be the problem? Why does my neurologist ignore this issue? Before my sudden hearing loss I was having pulsatile tinnitus. Can the cranial nerves be the cause? How can i get a test for this? Will an MRI spot the impacted cranial nerve?
Maybe that would explain my pulsatile tinnitus for many years with my right ear always feeling full. Over the years, I would flush my right ear out thinking it was full of wax, but it was clean. I believe my hearing was gradual, but never paid attention because my left ear was compensating. I would love to find a doctor that has experience with cranial nerves to take a look at my MRI and MRA and give a second opinion.

I have severe hearing loss in my left ear. Went to a top ear doctor in NYC. he said nothing he could do. I bought from Amazon these Atom hearing aids .... $99. Online products don’t give the capability in amplification. They can give you maybe 26dB in gain. Severe hearing loss? I fit those with 50-60dB gains. That can only come with real devices through an audiologist. You are being massively under fitted with your hearing.

There is a common misperception that if one purchases hearing aids online (over the counter) they can get the right product. Wrong...See an Audiologist to find out WHY you have hearing loss.

I stayed in the hospital and dr. used all the treatment they could, even though it recovered a half of the hearing but it is still a medium level lost. Dr. said mine is sensorineural damaged for sure. But I am so used to it now and I take extra care to my precious left ear. A few days a ago, I walked into one of the local hearing centre, they told me I need to do extra care for my ears, since the good one, the left will balance out the hearing with the right, the bad one in the long term, which scared me, they told me to google for info. I am a bit confused and scared since, so far, I feel okay with my adapted hearing and the slight ringing sound over the years. They even told me how harmful it is (if I do not do anything to it) to my brain...
Yes but since it doesn't necessarily help with those with dead hair cells, it's not going to be helpful with LONG term hearing loss. It's recommended by us for those with Tinnitus and SHORT term hearing loss to maybe recover damaged cells.

You need to know if that bad ear has any usable hearing available.

Cranial Nerves are not normally something that kills off one ear. BUT sometimes. MRIs can show that on the 8th nerve yes.

@@DR-di3kt It's possible but not as likely. Sudden hearing loss normally happens in the Cochlea. The 8th nerve will be somewhat more gradual.

i wonder if the good ear will get closed to the hearing condition to the bad ear for neural hearing loss condition.
Not sure where you are going here. When we have one sided hearing loss for medical reasons, it doesn't affect the other side at all.
