  • Ear Disorders Pt1: Middle Ear Infection Symptoms & Otitis Media Causes | Ruptured Eardrum Treatment
In part #1 of 2 videos on Ear Disorders, we will help you understand what might be going on with your Ear Infection, or a Child Ear Infection for your child or toddler. If you have struggled with Middle Ear Infection Symptoms or Outer Ear Infection Symptoms and didn't know how to ask the questions, this is the video for you.
Dr. Scott Young, a doctor of Audiology, will give you detailed answers about how the middle and inner ear areas work and the disorders that can happen. In this video, we will focus on middle ear issues of Otitis Media Causes (middle ear infections) and Otitis Externa Causes (outer ear infections).
Dr. Scott also mentions Ruptured Eardrum Treatment, and how an Audiologist might treat such a case. Audigy Group has provided helpful video clips to illustrate this and educate you about the different parts of the ear and how these infections affect those areas.

Very interesting to watch this. I had ossicular reconstruction, tympanoplasty and mastoidectomy. It took 2 surgeries to do all that. I had 3 failed attempts in elementary school to graph the eardrum so they said to wait till I was older. By the time I went back in high school my ear was had so much infection. It didn’t hurt though cause I barely had an eardrum at that point. I’m so glad videos like this are available to explain and help folks know the things that can happen if issues are not treated timely. Keep up the good work. I look forward to watching more of your vids.

What a great video you taught me so much I am 68 years old and was in a very large explosion while I was serving in the Marine Corps in the early 70s
I wear hearing aids for the last 20+ years and as a marine when we fire our weapons right next to our ears specially, if you’re left-handed, they’re on the left ear and right handed on the right ear so I have significant hearing loss extreme tinnitus to the point of Lots of anxiety when I try to lay
Your video has helped me understand how the year works. I’m suffering now with watering one side in the air and I had the other ear plugged with wax.
The doctors at urgent care remove 90% of the wax and his given me a prescription of the eardrops that I apply three times a day
The reason I went was for the water in my ear, is plugged my ear up
Thank you for such an informative video, and I definitely will be watching more of your videos as they come along

I didn't know until I was a young teen that I was opposite eye dominant with major dyslexia (I knew that last part). Primary right hand with blinking left eye doesn't make shooting a rifle well on the right. I learned then to shoot left and accomplished many things ambidexterously. That was one of my primary study points as I began as an Audiologist along with a complete fascination in military history starting with WWIII and broadening from there. But, when you shoot lefty like I do, the barrel of the muzzle is exposing more of the right ear. Studies bear this out along with my 34 years in the field of Audiology. It doesn't mean you won't have some level of damage on the left but the opposite ear will contain most of the overall damage. Those on ships shooting their 50 cal are shooting in a balanced position where they will notice a balanced hearing loss due to noise.

The mucous fill the Etchurian canal while sleeping flat. Cause blocked left sinus & intake of air. When clean with warm salt water with Soda bicarbonate or few drops of apple Cider vinegar, clear the passage of inhalation including Etchurian tube then sleep. Standing sitting stay normal, also I found vacuuming or sucking feeling in throat during sleep. 😳😳

Week before Thanksgiving had bad earache in right ear all way to jawline. Went to walk in clinic next day (Sunday) and PA prescribed Zpac (I'm allergic to lot of antibiotics) and Ciproflauxin ear drops. Sunday night had severe earache to jawline. Monday i could barely hear in either ear. Monday called 3 ENT's for appnt and all want referral. Tuesday went to PCP and said he'd refer me to an ENT. Thursday i went to a chiropractor who did treatment for Eustacean Tube Dysfunction. This coming Monday have appnt with audiologist. Haven't heard from PCP regarding ENT appnt. Still can't hear good in either ear.

    • @HearingSolutionCtr
      @HearingSolutionCtr  6 месяцев назад +2

PCP is not th answer and neither is a Chiro. You have to have an Audio tell you where the problem is and they can push to get an ENT appt.

At 2:24 your the first person I've seen explain this! My canal is painful and inflamed after some sort of water liquid dripped out. So I used a bic biro pen lid to try and scoop and pop the potential spot. I think it was a burst spot in the canal I've no idea but I get it regularly every few months in this right canal. Now it's inflamed and painful. Weired. Outer ear issue maybe . I won't be trying to pop spots in my ear canal again.

I had sudden onset of what I believe was fluid building up due to my eustachian tubes not draining for whatever reason. Over the course of 5 hours the pressure built up so immensely I thought my head was going to explode. Both ears had a sharp pain that was so unbearable I was holding the sides of my head screaming. I tried all kinds of things to get my ears to "pop" but nothing would work not even that thing where you plug your nose and blow. But after hours of enduring it and not able to stand up (I was dizzy and nauseous as well as in too much pain to do anything but writhe on the floor and rock and cry) suddenly my ears popped and blood and yellow fluid poured out both ears. The pain ans pressure was gone. I went to the ER. They said my eardrums were ruptured. They gave me antibiotic and said I'd be fine. It's 5 days later and I'm gradually getting MORE deaf and also pressure keeps building up again.
I don't think this originated with an ear infection. I think I have a problem with my eustachian tubes.
What should I do? Do I go to an ENT or wait it out (I was told it can take weeks for my eardrums to heal. But I was also told symptoms would get better over the next few days. I'm getting worse as far as my hearing and the reoccurring pressure building)

    • @HearingSolutionCtr
      @HearingSolutionCtr  Год назад +5

It's most likely a middle ear infection. This is dealt with by an ENT yes. I would not wait due to it creating that much pressure. Listen, ENTs have emergency situations that they will get you in. The do these things called PE Tubes. That will fix your problem. Totally worth it! Seen it thousands of times. Get it done and life will get better, as well as hearing will come back!

You really need a good ENT evaluation to find out WHY that ear has been so messed up. I am sorry about their lies. But keep searching about the answers. I will tell you that many infections can be related to allergic reactions. I kept getting upper respiratory infections until I realized that Sugar was messing me up. I need to be off that.

If your ear drum is "busted" it needs to be repaired. If you have an infection in there, it can be taken care of by a Tube if it stays. Ask for an ENT to check over that ear. Once it's healed, you will notice an IMMEDIATE hearing change pretty danged close to normal, unless there's something else. Go call for one in your area.

In the mean time i can barely talk above a whisper could by chance did the patch go to my larnex to destroy my voice? The patch was taken from the outer side of my ear and was flatten out and that was to be put on the hole, can you help me anyway please?

      1. Patches that are not your eardrum (skin patches are great) will fall off.
      2. I cannot help you.
      3. An ENT needs to repatch this with a new ear drum.

i had a month of cold and blocked nose followed by extreme rt ear blockage which eventually led to yellow discharge.. my ent told me it’s perforation off the eardrum due to serous otitis media and has put me on five days course of antibiotics : CEFPODOXIME+CLAVULANIC ACID
And other meds : Anti histamine, Decongestant and Acetomaphines
My drainage has stopped but my ear is super clogged, feels like it’s in water with tinnitus and also pains a bit

You want to get the cold symptoms under control so that your Eustation Tubes aren't plugged. That's good...but the ENT hopefully is thinking of repairing the ear drum which is probably part of the pain. That's all I would say.

Kitty ruptured ear drums are painful but are NOT permanent injury. Many of them heal on their own even if they leave scar tissue on the ear drum. I had a set of twins who had the worst ear drums I had ever seen with scar tissue but still had normal hearing even though stupid physicians who had never tested their hearing told them they had MASSIVE hearing loss. What you see doesn't always harm you. Get your hearing tested first.

    Hello Doctor.
I'm confused if i have middle ear infection or just ringing sound problem. 4 days ago i was trying to clear wax from ear, after cleaning i used my little finger just to make sure if some wax remained,it should come out, while using the finger i accidentally hurt my ear and the next day the pain started, a little bit of fluid came out too and also ringing sound started in ear...i visited a homeopathic clinic near my house and he gave me tablets and ear drop. After taking the tablets my pain has started reducing bt the ringing sound is still there. it has been 4 days since I'm taking the medicines...i haven't used the eardrop btw which he gave me, because I'm worried if it makes situation compilcated. the hearing ability of this particular ear has also reduced because of the ringing sound

i was swimming for a few months and a month or so after quitting i got an ear infection. the pain from it was tolerable at first, but it gradually got worse. my lymph nodes under my ear are swollen very badly, and my ear is feeling kind of stiff when i touch it. i tried swimmer's eardrops, chewing gum, antibiotics, and flushing out my ear with a syringe filled with hydrogen peroxide. the pain and swelling just kept increasing. i began taking midol for the pain, but it'd wear off about 2 hours after it took effect, and i would be in the most unbelievably excruciating pain, so i began alternating between midol and motrin every 4 hours and continuing to take antibiotics. the swelling has gone down quite a bit as well as the pain, it's tolerable now. i have a heating pad on my neck, I'm not sure if its doing me any good though. it's becoming more difficult to breathe, and it's difficult to chew and open my jaw more than a centimeter wide. my mom probably wont take me to a doctor because im not in as much pain anymore, but i don't know whether I'm getting better or just becoming more numb from the medicine and constant pain. (this has taken place over a 5 day period i believe). the pain is worst in my neck, right under my jaw. i really need help, and i am probably just being dramatic and my ear is fine, i just need answers. thank you very much by the way.

I've had my 1st ever ear boil a few weeks ago.
It got so big, it actually mostly ruptured the night before I had my doctor appointment.
The damn thing is still in my ear, but not that big, but obviously I want it totally gone but if it's going to stay the way it is fine with me rather than getting bigger.
When it did pop or rupture about 2 weeks ago, it was very random (I think),
Well I fell asleep for a little bit, When I woke up I felt like there was wetness in my ear & of course someone said I had alot of white pus in my ear...
I thought they were maybe joking, so I took 2 mirrors & angled them to see in my ear, I kinda freaked out a little bit lol & a nurse said not to mess with my ear until after my doctor had seen it, but I tried to use some common sense lol so I tried to clean it out the best I could, maybe too much, cuz I was worried... But I think I did put a little bit of Neosporin cream on it before bed.
I also was using either warm compress, or heating pad for pain, Actually I was also using them "Hot Hands" brand things ppl use for winter, but I wrapped it good with a clean dry dishcloth & even told a couple nurses & my Dr & they said that was actually ok. I was kinda worried they were gonna be against it cuz does say on the package not for medical, but I guess if you're using it carefully it can be ok & I have used then brand things "Hot Hands" for other stuff, especially in time when I can use or get to a heating pad.

      Well, back again with otitis,
ear infection, in my right ear.
It got worse about Monday (November 1st 2021).
Had Dr appointment Wednesday (November 3rd).
I've been using ear drops (Ciprodex drops for a week)
Omg they're expensive, I'm glad my insurance paid most of it or else I would not have paid over $200 of tiny drops for 7 days or less, I'd be surprised if they last that long lol.
Today I felt maybe the drops got in, it's hard to tell if things are getting better...
Maybe very slowly better, maybe to the point I can hardly tell.
      My right ear is muffled.
But right now it almost feels like air rather than liquid.
Since I've had lots of ear issues my whole life on/off, I know some stuff like how to pop
& un pop my ears by blowing my nose, moving my jaw so on...
Nothing is working yet, very sensitive, annoying, irritable, & pain without pain meds.
Feels like I have something stuck way deep in my ear.
      Ughhh...
      Hugz

Normally when it doesn't work, they do something called a myrongotomy. They slice into the eardrum and suck out the fluid and put a PE tube (called doing Tubes) for you ears. You need to push the appt to quicker than two months. Most of your symptoms will drop away. If they don't after that, you need another eval of your ears.

Hi doctor, had an acute otitis media infection 3-1/2 weeks ago from an upper respiratory virus. I Immediately was prescribed a Z-Pak at a urgent care. Followed up with my regular doctor. She gave me Cipro which I realized wasn’t the right medicine. stopped taking it after two days went back to another doctor the next day and got Cefdnir. Still had a fullness with ear popping, So I went to an ENT. He did a myringotomy ( which made my hearing instantly worse!) and he said did not really produce any fluid, but it did seem to relieve the pressure , so he did not put a tube in. I’m waiting to get in audiology test, but in the meantime, I’m not hearing very well out of the ear. It still has a crackling sound especially in the morning when I open my mouth or swallow. Do you think there could be any stuck fluid behind the eardrum that might be causing this issue or swelling ? I’m afraid of permanent hearing loss -thank you.

If you had a rupture in your eardrum, if it's small, then it will heal on its own. If it's large, it needs to be surgerically patched. Either way, you will hear again without ringing (if that is your ONLY problem in your ears). This is fixable but you must see that your ear can either heal on its own or needs to be surgerically fixed.
