I think everyone can see that it wasnt on porpuse what Aasbo did , you know Field is a machine so you need to give everthying you got on the chase , not to mention the initiation by Field was like a two step one , so threw Aasbo a little of the line , so i think its just stuff that happens , ofc it sucks but i think the atitude that Field had wasnt the best either
Shoutout to Matt for holding it in and doing his best to have good sportsmanship. If you keep up with his interviews over the years (maximum driftcast is great) you know the intensity in his head in that moment. I was pulling my hair out, cant imagine what he was feeling.
Hopefully Matt and Drift Cave can bring the back to true for the rest of the season. The vette has progressed awesomely thru the years and with Vaughn away and the rest of the veterans still breaking in new cars, this might be the year for Matt or Odi to take it all the way to the top.
@@nickwilson5707 I don't see a feint, I see him lining up the car, placing it precisely where he wants to be, before he initiates. It's bumpy in that stretch also, see when he leaves the cones.
@@joefields719 Then you might need to look over many times? Instead of initiating he does a right left then right to initiate. So the car following also was ready to initiate on the first right, but that does not happen. The rule is the lead car has the right of way, but then again it also states you have to do a Chaseable run. With his faint\flick\correction what ever you call it, i see it as harder to chase.
@@mfortyturbo2 the definition of flick it's to do a Left Right to transfer the weight of the vehicle to induce oversteering. That it's one of the acceptable way to initiate a drift in FD.
@@mfortyturbo2 And on qualifying if you look closely both drivers are flicking on the initiation. Aasbo just make a mistake and push to hard to make up for it.
This was a big crash… for FD. Nowhere near as dangerous as in most Motorsports. Sure it was a bad crash that cost Field some time and money, but I feel that this crash is almost being milked and over exaggerated. Johathan Hurst suffered en even bigger crash and broke his foot, doesn’t hear much about it.
EXACTLY! this is a scratch compared to rally crashes (yes I know there is more money and such in rally) but still, this is the most prestige filled drifting series on this planet. This is no biggie. With that said, I am biased, i am Swedish. And since drift week 1 where matt had a discussion with Luke. Matt is in my eyes a big yerk + crybaby
Okay yeah asabo fault for the crash but field didn’t have to have such a attitude to asabo he himself said it was his fault and that he apologized I mean it’s formula drift things happened I get he’s pretty furious at the moment but cmon man don’t gotta have a attitude
Freddie shows up to drive and gets paid. Matt built his whole program from the ground up not to mention he built the vette himself and developed that chassis HIMSELF. So for it to be written off after round 1 is beyond frustrating.
@@MichaelSmith-cx6qm You gotta understand tho when you do formula drift or drifting in general your going to expect these things to happen its not new to anyone there.
you can see the rage radiating of matt after the crash, dude was rightfully pissed especially with a car that dialed in
What’s crazy is that last season Matt field and aasbo had a collision and it happened again, this is a rivalry in the making if it’s not already made
Yes I remember, the one on initiation. It was also very controversial..
Formula Drift is the best car sport
Hell ya!!!! NASCAR lost me to FD
Nah FD is best

His attitude wasn’t the best but I really don’t blame him. Especially after the work he put into it this offseason

At 0:44 it looks like Aasbos car fails to initiate on first attempt. Looks like his car wasn't performing as well as needed.
If you watch field does a little fake feint that throws Aasbo off on entry and gets him stuck on the inside

Would be interesting to see if there going to be more flipping finger in this round. After Matt`s rant last round he better do no mistakes.
Matt Field feinted with a late initiation if you wanna get technical. Looked like it threw Aasbo’s chase line off. Matt wasn’t perfect either.
Definitely splitting hairs, but he did hang on the wall a bit past OZ1 from my perspective
Fredrick said we leave this in Long Beach…. When Matt’s on your door - we will see then
Hope Fredric fixes up that vette and can go on to battle. If not come pick up my c5 and get back out there
The Supra clipped him hard and threw him into the wall.

Theres salt (as there should be) but its part of the competition. Not on purpose but still sucks

I mean, I guess the easiest way to eliminate your competition is to crash them with poor driving.
Do you not know who Fredrick Aasbo is? Poor driving lol.
