It won best animation at the Golden Globes and was the first Latvian picture to win anything at the Golden Globes. It's Latvia's nomination for the Oscars in best international picture, but may or may not be selected among the five final movies selected. It seems highly likely to be nominated for best animated picture. All his prior movies were done with the director doing everything: editing, music, CG. This is the first movie he's done where he has a team (Latvia, French, and Belgian). Most of the animators came from France and were young animators due to the limited budget. What the animators lacked in experience, they made up in enthusiasm to create a great movie.

I’m glad there’s someone who isn’t here to be hypercritical of a fraction of what the video says. Sometimes when people say things they are taken in a different way despite the intention. The wild robot was still a good movie, heck an exceptional one. Even if Dazz didn’t click with the feeling of the dialogue, he still thought the movie was great.
Thanks for brining this up to my attention Dazz. Love the animation as well as artstyle choice within this movie so far. I also have the wild robot in my list of movies to catch as well this year myself.
I watched Flow without knowing anything about it and it was amazing, more emotional than I thought and didnt exactly end on a fairytale high note either. highly recommend it
That’s it! I’ve reached my breaking point. You were one of my favorite movie reviewers… but you fell into the “negativity gets views” cesspit!! I’m done. Either reverse this trend or I will be unsubscribing. You don’t have to be negative towards every mainstream movie or show. Reviewing is criticizing the bad and uplifting the good. You sir, are not a reviewer anymore… You’re just a critic. Do better. *Be* better!
I actually learned of this film earlier this month thanks to a tweet. Namely the fact that the entire movie is made in Blender and rendered in Eevee! Stuff thats more commonly used for video games and that certainly explains some of the visual style. But logistically too it makes a ton of sense. I've actually been to Latvia myself, I went there on vacation in the summer of 2023. Its a wonderful place, with beautiful towns and the capital city of Riga is a hidden gem of a European city! But it is also very small. The entire country only has a little over 2 million people living in it, and their economy isn't huge. So of course they cant afford to go the way of the big studios in bigger countries, and instead had to think outside the box. But that has really resulted in something beautiful. Btw if you want some reccomendations for international pictures to look out for, then as a Danish guy myself, I think the Checkered Ninja movies, 1 & 2 could be interesting for you. Especially as a third one is in the works. They're also all dubbed into English already, with an all Irish cast actually. I'm sure it'd be something worth talking about, whether its for the good, the bad, or the absurd in these movies that would never fly with an American production. Just... keep in mind one thing. Their english dub is distributed by the same distributor that Saberspark has beef with. The one that nearly took down his channel over a Ronal the Barbarian review (Oh yeah theres that film too lol.)
its a beautiful movie you guys should watch it. but it is very sad, like very sad. its a very unique style in visuals (visuals look amazing) and overall, no narration or anything.
At one point, the cat swims to the giant statue of a cat: this means they are never far from home. One reason there is no human for the cat could be that "some owners who relocate believe [wrongly] that cats are so territorial that they leave cats behind when they move." Which is a sad, sad reality. Anyway, gorgeous film, not to be missed
As a sky fan who also can't wait for The two Embers, I personally can't for this movie . If you don't what Sky is or what The two Embers is, "Sky: Children of the light" also known as "Sky cotl" is a game about making connections through the screen by not having you talk but instead they have you emote as a way to communicate with other players, and The Two Embers es is an animation project that's based off sky and is also mesnt to expand on the story of it, but the best part of the animation project is, it's going to have no voice acting, instead having everything being shown through body and the eye movement. So I personally can wait for Flow and TTE because I love the idea of a film with no talking
honestly between this and The Wild Robot its very hard to pick the best animated movie of the year, I might just give the edge to Flow cause of how unique and artistic it is, you dont see something like this made everyday and it deserves all the appreciation
Flow looks great but there's no need to punch down on another beautiful movie in order to praise Flow they are both movies representing a hopeful direction for the industry and hating on Wild Robot for something it never promised just kind of sucks
When I've seen the trailer a while ago, it seemed suprising to me that it doesn't get any like ANY attenition comparing to smthn like The Wild Robot ect., so there we go, now it does :D
I actually saw a trailer for this in theaters a week ago. There was a problem though, the audio was messed up, and the music was missing for the most part. So for a majority of the trailer it was silent with random animal noises here and there. And then there was this moment where the cat broke a long period of silence with a loud meow, it felt so random and my theater just erupted with laughter. I might see it just because of that experience.
My country made it and we got to watch it 1st💪💪💪💪💪 I watched it in the cinema and IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE Latvia rocksssssss
Great reboot of a vignette from Brono Bozzetto's amazing 1976 Fantasia Parody: Allegro Non Troppo "Jean Sibelius's Valse triste: a solitary cat wanders in the ruins of a large house. The cat remembers the life that used to fill the house when it was occupied. Eventually all of these images fade away, as does the cat, just before the ruins are demolished." ~Wikipedia
Finally! People realize his takes aren’t fact! Because they’re not! Half of the time he doesn’t know what he’s talking about! He’s the only person i can watch and hear “halfway through the video” and feel like it’s been an eternity!
I loved Wild Robot but while I understand the point Dazz makes, the fact is that all of us kind of expected to have some form of dialogue. Not just because it’s a mainstream studio release but it’s one of the elements from the original book the movie took. Honestly if you really wanted an animated film that is completely dialogue free, watch Robot Dreams
The long legged white, orange faced bird is called a secretary bird, a african bird of prey that is known for its long legs that are used to kill snakes in a fast pace, even venomous ones.
Seems like it’s taking inspiration from Noah and the Ark but it’s probably a future. Where we humans melted the ice caps and flooded ourselves to extinction.
The besta nimation film EVER! and the best movie-sotry for a dacade!! it will not gets only your heart.. but your mind and soul too! Wild Robot is great too but... sorry... FLOW is just a MASTERPIECE of immage and cinematography that Disney can only dream of! When you watchit you will worry about the safety of the animals from the first seconds to the end... and it is all done ( 95%) with realistic animals that have to survive without humans that are simply (spoiler) gone!
Lmao bro is still salty about the wild robot not being a silent film that its living rent free in his head and has to put it down every chance he gets.
Honestly, even if this trailer got me, and like how this really seems to be silente. I'm still concerned this was only a techo demo or like those old animals documentaries
I’ve seen the film and body language is used to communicate most of what the animals think and feel. Even if there is no dialogue, the characters speak to each other through their movements, their expression. They have their own challenges and character flaws. I hope this helps you with your concerns but if you’re still not interested in the movie, that’s fine too.
I completely love everything about this movie and I absolutley cannot wait to see it. However, it is reallyyyyy bugging me that the cat does not look like he's underwater, given the meticulous details in the movie already 😂😒

The wild robot was still a good movie, heck an exceptional one. Even if Dazz didn’t click with the feeling of the dialogue, he still thought the movie was great.
LATVIANS, ASSEMBLE!!!
👇
I could hear the Rito Village theme and Colgera theme playing in the background of this video, very fitting, indeed.
Thanks for brining this up to my attention Dazz. Love the animation as well as artstyle choice within this movie so far. I also have the wild robot in my list of movies to catch as well this year myself.
Bro do you just not like the wild robot?
Calm down
@@RandomRobot15 okay 👍
The cat character reminds me of Kitty from Little Kitty, Big City for some reason
its a beautiful movie you guys should watch it. but it is very sad, like very sad. its a very unique style in visuals (visuals look amazing) and overall, no narration or anything.
flow
At one point, the cat swims to the giant statue of a cat: this means they are never far from home. One reason there is no human for the cat could be that "some owners who relocate believe [wrongly] that cats are so territorial that they leave cats behind when they move." Which is a sad, sad reality. Anyway, gorgeous film, not to be missed
as a latvian glad we got to become such celebrities
I can't WAIT to see this movie !
Just saw it in theaters
honestly between this and The Wild Robot its very hard to pick the best animated movie of the year, I might just give the edge to Flow cause of how unique and artistic it is, you dont see something like this made everyday and it deserves all the appreciation
I'm having such a hard time not slapping this as my favorite movie ever.
Blud had to change the title
I’m seeing this on Saturday. I’m in the US. Excited for it.
Flow looks great but there's no need to punch down on another beautiful movie in order to praise Flow they are both movies representing a hopeful direction for the industry and hating on Wild Robot for something it never promised just kind of sucks
When I've seen the trailer a while ago, it seemed suprising to me that it doesn't get any like ANY attenition comparing to smthn like The Wild Robot ect., so there we go, now it does :D
i saw this so many times on my recommendation i love it
but i think the wild robot is good too
I actually saw a trailer for this in theaters a week ago.
The wild robot literally does not work as a movie if they can’t talk to each other
My country made it and we got to watch it 1st💪💪💪💪💪
I watched it in the cinema and IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE
Latvia rocksssssss
I'm currently making a short Comedy Horror film for University and this just inspired me to go all out on the visuals
Don’t complain about a movie if you haven’t seen it, the wild robot would not at all have worked as a silent film
I actually want to see it hopefully its as beautiful as the trailer
Great reboot of a vignette from Brono Bozzetto's amazing 1976 Fantasia Parody:
Allegro Non Troppo
"Jean Sibelius's Valse triste: a solitary cat wanders in the ruins of a large house. The cat remembers the life that used to fill the house when it was occupied. Eventually all of these images fade away, as does the cat, just before the ruins are demolished."
~Wikipedia
Finally! People realize his takes aren’t fact! Because they’re not! Half of the time he doesn’t know what he’s talking about! He’s the only person i can watch and hear “halfway through the video” and feel like it’s been an eternity!
I'm just here to enjoy the Secretary birb. I love those guys. 😅 Please be kind everyone and stay safe out there.
Bird
@@ASM-99 Birb ftw.😍
Big leg pretty plumage bird ❤
Feels like a video game trailer due to the artstyle lol
Yes i am latvian and its now mentioned
He about to get sandmanned
I loved Wild Robot but while I understand the point Dazz makes, the fact is that all of us kind of expected to have some form of dialogue. Not just because it’s a mainstream studio release but it’s one of the elements from the original book the movie took.
Honestly if you really wanted an animated film that is completely dialogue free, watch Robot Dreams
I watched the movie and it's buetiful
The long legged white, orange faced bird is called a secretary bird, a african bird of prey that is known for its long legs that are used to kill snakes in a fast pace, even venomous ones.
It feels like what the original plans (from inspiration) were gonna be for the wild robot...but regardless, dialogue or none at all, it's still good.
The best animated feature Oscar is going to be highly contested again this year.
Just got Golden globes as Best animated movie! ❤🎉
This looks wonderful. I'm looking forward to it!
WHAT!? Please say it is before may I want to watch it sooner than later 😭
If you can afford, you can come to Latvia. They have screenings for this film in every cinema here.
I had never heard of this film, but I want to see it now.
Dude if you read the books than you’d know that the animals are supposed to speak
Showed the trailer to my mum earlier today, we’re so excited to see it together!
I just watched it, it's cute. Family movie night, and the kids and chatter because there is no dialog.
I DIDNT MISS IT HA HA TAKE THAT I WAS AHEAD
Seems like it’s taking inspiration from Noah and the Ark but it’s probably a future. Where we humans melted the ice caps and flooded ourselves to extinction.
Wild Robot was a movie where I actually liked the talking animals I think they handled it well without making it cringey
Man this guy fell off 💀
real asf, last three of his videos i’ve watched have been clickbaity and/or poorly researched like cmon 😭🙏
What happened to this channel in the last year? Why are we just back to random complaining again?
I can't wait for the next trailer of this film to come out, and it reveals there are talking animals.
the overall style makes me think of stray
Cat goes on adventure and makes friends after getting unwillingly thrown into an undesired situation
I love how everybody just turned up on him
Ngl, I thought this was a game at first. It reminds me of stray.
Flow looks like a high quality video game. It reminds me of the games that game company makes like sky and journey.
I love climate-fiction especially something like this
I can't wait!!!
I originally thought it was a video game. Still want to see it and so does my kid
I completely love everything about this movie and I absolutley cannot wait to see it. However, it is reallyyyyy bugging me that the cat does not look like he's underwater, given the meticulous details in the movie already 😂😒
A flood with a bunch of animals seems rather Noah to me. I wonder if there's a connection!
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. Stop beating up on Dazz for having an opinion just like you. Also, he isn't beating up on the Wild Robot that much. Calm down.
Seen the movie !!! Its amazing. Im so glad its getting more attention
We haven't had a film like this since Spirit, the movie and not the awful series. I'm excited.
I think what you meant was that you thought the wild robot was gonna be and what you would have preferred
