The Blue Line runs on a 9km bridge that crosses the lagoon at its deepest draught since it's close to the Port, making the bridge the third longest bridge after the October Bridge in Egypt and the Third Mainland Bridge in Nigeria. But before the Lagos Metro line is the Abuja metro line that connects the airport to the City centre running over 30km, completed over 5yrs ago.
For Lagos, the sections are subdivided into colours covering specific sections on the state, the next in line is the Red Line which covers 37km with 13 stations and is currently at over 92% completion and projected to be ready before year-end.
Lastly, both Blue Line and Red Lines are directly funded by the State Government of Lagos, and not via any infrastructure loan from China.

My brother, we Nigerians are not over excited, because it’s a project we were over due to have in Nigeria, Nigeria is a country with a lot of resources that no African countries should see our back, just like In entertainment industry, look at South Africa well developed, a country that was struggling with apartheid, they were fighting and destroying properties, while we were free and doing nothing to our economy, the politicians and military were busy stealing money and buying properties abroad, sending their children to overseas for education, medical treatment, and leaving our education and medical facilities deplorable, that’s why our youths are running away and the best brains leave the country, please I couldn’t continue staying and watching what was happening in that country, I had to leave the country. I see Tinubu coming to America to tell Nigerians who are established there to come back home, with all the properties he acquired from being a Governor in Lagos, is that how Lagos should look like, no Nigeria will leave a country that he is making 7million naira a month to Nigeria where he or she is going to be paid peanut.

    Stop the COMPARISON.
NIGERIA IS NOT COMPETING OR COMPARING WITH GHANA.
    Nigeria is moving way ahead.
It is only Ghana that has gotten it into it's head that it can compete with Nigeria.
Ghana still does not get it that they can't compete with Nigeria.
We don't say NAIJA TO THE WORLD, without a reason.

This is why he's now the President of Nigeria, he has results to show for his work. We also have similar stuff in Abuja and Portharcourt at a lesser extent, Kano also planning theirs. Ghana can't compete with Nigeria, we are not competetors, the size and population of Nigeria is overwhelming. It's important to know that that $1.2 billion is severely inflated by the people in government. They pad up budget estimates with seventy percent more money. It's the worst kind of corruption. China built a 27-kilometer rail line with less than $350 million dollars and Nigeria built theirs with $1.4 billion dollars. That's crazy.

The train in Senegal is for long distance travels, if you see the interior you'll see the difference. There is room for standing in a Metro line, but you can not stand in Senegal's train cos it's a long distance travel train.

Please stop comapring Ghana with Nigeria. You should compare with just Lagos. The rail itself is fully funded by the Lagos state govt and has abt 5 different phases, blue line, red line will start before December, its about 96% completed, then the green line, purple line etc.
PS: lts an electric train too and its capable of also using DMU engine as well....a fantastic move from Lagos. There is also a 30km completed in Abj,that should start operations by next year,Rivers state also started one and its still unfinished. There are mini countries in Nigeria capable of holding their own and yes we are all moving up positively together.

The light rail - is not a federal government initiative. It's the responsibility of Lagos state - which has the most infrastructure in Nigeria and is allegedly the fourth largest GDP in Africa. This rail line has been on the cards for over a decade - Lagos state at one time wanted to buy second hard carriages from New York - I think that was under the Fashola administration. Time has gone by and they realised they could get a far better deal from the Chinese, who can build metro rail and intercity rail in their sleep.
The design, construction is Chinese led, the funding is Chinese. The supervision and training is Chinese - in short it's a Chinese project that Lagos state where able to negotiate.

Lol, the blue rail in Lagos is owned by Lagos State. The Nigerian government never contributed a dime to it. The FG of Nigeria rail line was constructed in 2015. And it runs from Lagos to Ibadan. From Abuja to Kaduna, another from Edo State to Delta State. Anything within the state is done by the state government. And anything that connects two states is done by the FG. That is what the law says. Another one is being constructed from Katsina state to Niger Republic, the ancestral home of Former president Muhammed Buhari.
