    Not business folks, tech gurus or innovative young minds.

      I can assure you that you are wrong my brother! I don't know if you are on the continent or overseas but I've been back for 15 years now and I can tell you for a fact that there's real wealth on the ground here that has nothing to do with politics! Nigeria has a population of over 150.000.000 people how many of those dyou think are into politics? But when you see the amount of wealth on display in Nigeria it's not just sustainable that politicians are behind it all

  • @LionRoarTeaching

    The fact that "politician" was arguably the most mentioned word in this video speaks volume about our country 🤓

    • @aframaco9491
      @aframaco9491 Год назад +5

      That , actually is an often repeated lazy summation!
      For a start, there is no such thing as a "politician" in the true sense of the word!
      Most people who go into politics are often people who have had previous different careers !
      And of course only people of means mostly go into politics in the first place!
      Lawyers, ex military generals, bankers, businesspersons and even doctors all get involved in politics!
      But many Nigerians don't seem to take on board that politics is very transient!
      Politicians win elections and lose elections , they can be impeached, their tenures in office do come to an end!
      Additionally, court tribunals can upturn election results and sack any incumbents!
      Instinctively, most politicians, like most Nigerians actually do like to retire to their home states .
      All told, politicians along the three tiers of government are not up to 20,000 individuals!
      So how can 20,000 or so people own or occupy over one and a half million homes in Abuja??
      We are too quick to buy into these tropes of corrupt politicians dominating our society!
      👊🏾🇳🇬!

      This is why the country is never going to move forward. Politicians are living like celebrities in a country whereby millions cannot afford one meal per day. Majority of them made their money through corruption benefitting from the country cake. If we have a good country like the United States or Britain then most should be in prison by now. They don’t even pay property taxes or contribute a dime to the economy.

      "The smartest students pass with 1st Class & get admission to medical & Engineering schools. The 2nd Class Students get MBAs and LLBs to manage the First Class students. The 3rd Class Students enter politics, and rule both 1st and 2nd Class students. The failures join the Army and control politicians who, if they are not happy with, they kick or kill them..... Exactly and it's just 1% of people here who live like this. Mostly Northerners and people in government. I laugh when people say Lagos is better than Abuja. Yes, but only in terms of an environmental yardstick- traffic, crowd, etc. In reality, Abuja has A LOT of very bad roads. Only the expressways are developed. 99% of people here aren't rich. They're barely middle class and just surviving. There are hardly any good opportunities here except you're in government, employers don't pay well, businesses aren't doing so well because people are unwilling to pay for things. Everything is "expensive" to them. People are relocating en mass from this same Abuja Lagos people are running to, to the same Lagos they're running from. So ironic. Lagos is the place to be in terms of opportunities, career growth, businesses, talent, etc. Abuja, if you're not Hausa, Muslim or connected to any elite Northern circle, things will be very difficult for you to break into. It's strictly who you know and who knows you. The real movers and shakers are in Lagos, not Abuja as most people think. 99% of people watching and commenting on this video don't know that the have a 0.000001% of attaining anything like this in Abuja.

    You can get a lot for your money in Abuja, at least from a UK perspective, wow! Compared to London, even the most expensive properties in Abuja are still a fraction of the price of equivalent sized properties in London in similarly exclusive neighbourhoods . I live a short drive away from a road called the Bishops avenue in London which is for the uber rich, where 6 and 7 bedroom houses routinely sell for anywhere between £25 and £40 million depending on the size of the lot. £1 million in London will get you a very average sized 4 bedroom house, in a very ordinary part of London or it can buy you a 3 bedroom apartment in a reasonably exclusive area.

    There’s definitely much to admire about the beauty and infrastructure in Abuja. It’s the people that make it a very special place. With all that said, there’s NO WAY IN HELL that I’d pay some of the prices I was seeing! Just because of its size, I can see the Queen Lillian going for about $800K USD depending on internal amenities etc, but it’s right next door to some extremely mediocre looking apartments. The beautiful waterfront apartments with a view of dirty water ain’t werkin’ fa me. The developers should consider using the non-toxic water coloring. The beautiful homes next to highly substandard properties and garbage stacks in front of the entrance makes a case for major price reductions. I’m not saying they need to be extraordinarily cheap, but surroundings matter.

      All these places you mentioned are in Abuja, even the lake side you see here is a large outdoor recreation area. And as for the lake, I wish it's allowed to show you the real color of the lake, I've been on a boat across it and it's way clearer than what it is in this video. Everything is carefully planned in this city and most things that makes it family friendly is put in place.

    Sorry for those with illegal structures in Abuja. Wicked Wike as Minister of FCT Abuja is going to pull everything down....

    • @sylviasworld9397
      @sylviasworld9397 Год назад

      He is not wicked. El Rufai was known for the same thing, when he was FCT Minister.
      In sane countries, you are not allowed to build illegally and your building still stays up. You MUST get approved planning permission and stick to those specifications.
      There is an Abuja Master Plan for a reason and an engineer or from Aegis or AMAC must come to your plot and approve your building plan, according to that master plan. Even if its a small encroachment, it must come down. Nigerians love lawlessness and illegality and like to dare the government. They can do that elsewhere, not in the FCT. Far too much money and hope was invested in building the FCT, for it to be allowed to descend into another Lagos. No Way!!!

    Abuja is like New York where you see wealth and skyscrapers but you're unaware of poverty in some parts of Brooklyn, Bronx, and some parts of Queens. Please guy, people like us in America are not amused by those stolen public wealth buried in those mansions. Keep your story to yourself while Nigerians figure out how to afford garri, bread etc.

    Abuja is what Lagos should be. It is spaced proper, stores/houses not built on top of each other. People not crowded in the streets, clean, proper sewer/electric, proper designated residential/mixed use/commercial areas. Imagine if Lagos was built like this.

      Remember, Lagos has the smallest land mass in Nigeria having the largest population in Nigeria. How will you expect such city to have wide roads like Abuja? The only way out is railway networks. But thank God the government are putting that in place for citizens.
