  • Performing ceremonies in the Military Disctrict of Washington and funeral services in Arlington National Cemetery requires precision and dedication. Upon arrival, all soldiers E-6 and below spend three weeks training hard in the Regimental Orientation Program, learning everything from uniform wear and appearance to the specialized Drill and Ceremony conducted here in the Old Guard. This week's Behind The Scenes showcases the instructors of ROP, and how they prepare soldiers to be the best. (U.S. Army video by SSG Jake Hughes)

Wow, Happy to see this program is still in place . The original instructors were all assigned to Congressional Escort Duty out the Pentagon and still held positions within the Regiment - It's been 25 years - Keep Rocking

Delta Co 1997-2000, it is a lot of long hours and dedication, but looking back totally worth it! Old Guard Soldiers retain their military bearing after leaving the required 36 month commitment. Go into this with your all and the rest of your life will be set to the highest standard.....unless you shitbag, then you get what you give.

That’s the point, there is about 10x as much knowledge to learn here than during boot camp or basic, so the instructors need you to focus on becoming proficient rather than under pressure, but I will tell you that this is way more nerve racking in my experience than anything I’ve done.

“Rifle manual is the basis of all we do here in the Old Guard”……unless you’re in caskets. 😅

🤔☝️I Would Beg To Differ On The Training Of Your Agency Vs The Training Of Ohio State Marching Band. Although I Realize You Don’t Have Marching Formations Like Ohio State Marching Band I Am Sure That Upon Watching And Learning About The 2 Groups I Would Be Interested In Seeing Both Groups Compete For Best Performance In Precision Marching.

Today's kids could use this. I firmly believe in the military as a life changing function. But you got to want it and apply it. Life may suck sometimes but you can get through it if you apply yourself. Hard work never killed anyone. Unless they were just flat ass lazy and wanted it all for free. And yes u know there are freeloaders out there.. God bless all branches of the military... I spent 17 yrs in . I'd go back in a flash...
